Welcome to our channel. All the weapon systems are like books. They tell us their stories. The Weapon Detective investigates these books, reads between the lines, analyses, and tells the untold. At the dawn of the Second Cold War, the fruits of new projects give us clues about the future. But current weapon systems also have their own stories. You can find in our videos technical information, historical backgrounds, what happened during the development processes, combat experience and political projection. Let's investigate the weapons together when the Second Cold War is rising.

@@TheGreatMarathaArmy Rudram 2 and Rudram 3 are air-launched ballistic missiles. They are hypersonic at the upper altitudes, but DRDO's own posters of this missile clearly state that the terminal velocity of these missiles is Mach 2.
SMART is indeed based on Pralay, and like I explained, both of them are ballistic missiles. Ballistic missiles hit their peak hypersonic velocities at high altitudes, typically above the stratosphere. And you read those speeds of Mach 5 and Mach 7 and think that those are the terminal velocities right before hitting the target? That is obviously wrong. Let me explain:-
Take example of _ANY_ ICBM. Be it Minuteman III or Agni V. Both have a top speed of Mach 25, but that is before the re-entry vehicle encounters the thicker lower reaches of Earth's atmosphere again. Once the reentry vehicle encounters high air resistance after entering the Mesosphere and then Stratosphere, it rapidly bleeds-off energy insomuch that the terminal velocity of an ICBM just before it detonates a few thousand feet above the target is just Mach 2. Yes you heard that right, even though top speed of the ICBM has been Mach 25, its terminal velocity is Mach 2 to Mach 3 (depending on reentry angle). Don't believe me? There is a paper titled "Data for ICBM reentry trajectories" by the RAND Corporation. It is available on the internet and if you know how to read a graph, you can corroborate my claim that terminal velocity of an ICBM is Mach 2 to Mach 3.
The first Indian missile that the media mistook to be hypersonic was the Shaurya missile, on which the INS Arihant's K-15 Sagarika missile is closely based. First tested in 2008, Shaurya missile was not exactly a pure ballistic missiles, because it is powered almost throughout its trajectory (if its range is limited to 750 km). This is called a depressed ballistic trajectory. If you study DRDO statements about the Shaurya missile, even it attains its top speed of Mach 5 after climbing out of the Stratosphere of Earth. But it had to climb out of the Stratosphere to do this. And the target is obviously inside the Troposphere, so when it starts to near the target, it will have to dive through the Stratosphere and then the Troposphere and in doing so, it will bleed kinetic energy like any other ballistic missile, meaning it won't be at Mach 5 when it reaches its target. So in effect, even this missile was not a proper Hypersonic Cruise Missile. And the DRDO scientists that worked on this project clearly stated this to the media.
*A truly hypersonic cruise missile is one that uses either a RDE or a SCRAMJET engine and one that employs highly temperature resistant materials in its skin. This allows it to remain hypersonic even during its terminal phase, while inside the Earth's troposphere. A true testament to a nation's mastery over aerothermodynamics and material science. And India is already close to achieving this without any help from any foreign nation. So be proud of that, instead of making bogus claims about Rudram or SMART being "hypersonic."*
BrahMos 2 is something we shouldn't waste our time with. India has moved on from those years where we needed to buy Russian technology for extravagant sums, much to the chagrin of our taxpayers. This time, India has developed its own Hypersonic Cruise Missile technology through the two parallel scramjet engine programs of DRDO and ISRO that I mentioned. Now, we don't need BrahMos 2. Our LDHCM that DRDO is developing will be better than the BrahMos 2.

Not that I hate people's criticism on comment section, but remember that Indian National Congress following Gandhi-ism limitted mostly all Armed Forces mobility. Costing LoC and LAC of India to Pakistan and China for "peacefool negotiations"
"A fool's errand of Congress that compromised National security" according to now PM Narendra Modi..
Hence you see our PM more aggressive in 10 years just because of National security interests, ignored for nearly 60 years..🇮🇳🙇

It can go to more than 150 NM plus it's supersonic, so the PLAN vessels will have a hard time intercepting it.
