    The model used is an Eonon unit with Android 6, 2 gig ram, quad core CPU, GPS, Wifi, USB ports, reverse camera functionality, bluetooth and typical Android functionality.
    This guide should be very similar for the various different branded aftermarket Android head unit's out there, although fitting and exact wiring may differ.

    Did you ever run into issues with your code reading on the OBD2 or VAGCOM ? I managed a good install of my android unit but I am trying to connect to my code reader but it will not work. I've heard it could be a k line shorted and we just need to remove the wire. All helpful input is appreciated. Have a great day!

      Hey, thanks for the feedback! The headunit has been great so far, I have one issue in that the FM reception is pretty much non-existent, I can't tell if this is a FAKRA issue with head unit, however I stream all my music/radio now anyway.
      In terms of everyday use I have music playing within 30 seconds of starting the car and with EQ balance it's enhanced the quality of my audio set up (well within the limits of the stock equipment).

    I have this same unit and on a Audi B6 and the radio would pop when I remove the key. I had to try a Line Out converter, but that lowered the volume. I could hardley hear it. I ended up trying an other Line Out converter, but the same result. I switched to ground loop issoloator, and now its louder, but I still have lots of back ground noise (buzzing in the back gound). now trying to fix that. Did you have all these problems? I have bose radio and am using the factory amp.

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  Před 5 lety +1

      I pop the antenna adaptor in at 3:08 and it's brief but I show the wire layout at 4:15 - I found the FM reception to be poor and when I looked online it seems to be a mix of different adaptors/boosters but also potentially the Audi aerial itself being broken.
      I have a very high data allowance so just stream everything tbh as it's better quality.

    Hi - very new to all this, could you give me a link for a compatible head unit please?

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Mike, I can but will really recommend you check some bits first against anything I give you - there are a few types of A4 stereos so you need to make sure whatever unit you have will work - I think the type I had works with most. The other thing is Android units are always moving on in tech so power of the CPU's and ram change, back when I got this is was over £200 but think now an equivalent would be under £200.
      This is the closest I've found www.ebay.co.uk/itm/32GB-2GB-Android-8-0-Head-Unit-Car-Radio-DVD-GPS-SAT-NAV-OBD-DAB-for-Audi-A4-S4/192831195839?hash=item2ce5a28abf:g:F8cAAOSwFCpbqdWS:rk:35:pf:0
      There are others for £160 or £300+
      I would recommend before purchase checking about the rear amp connection because it's the thing people seem to miss with these units, in the video in my version (hopefully the one linked too) I've used the RCA's which feed the rear speakers.
      Hopefully this helps.

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  Před 3 lety +1

      Did you fit the canbus box? Without it, it doesent know powers off. Also there are two live sources and you could pop the pin and swap them. I heavily suspect it's the canbus box though as you can set stuff like stay on for 2 mins after keys removed

  • @DemonChicken316
    @DemonChicken316 Před 6 lety

    So I am having an issue with it powering on?
    Could this be due to not connecting the antenna wire?
    Or, could it be because I have my car coded for an RNS-E?
    I have a b7/8E with quadlock connection

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  Před 6 lety

      Make sure the canbus module is plugged in. I had that issue too the first time. The power signal comes over canbus.

      @DemonChicken316 Před 6 lety

      i definitely do, thanks

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  Před 6 lety

      That's odd - it is painful but I'd contact Eonon, the power on signal comes over canbus and if you go for a DIY set up it's messy.
      Double check the wiring diagram against a pinout for the stock head unit.
      I've known people with RNSE switch to these without hearing of issues - ironically RSNE's tend to sell for a reasonable amount too.

      Yea it's odd you have to connect the RCA's to each other, so on the harnesses there are RCA's that need connecting which output to the rear I think they are this way in can you run an aftrermarket amp.
      So basically you have the plugs that go in, one has some Yellow and white female plugs and the other the male, connect them.

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  Před 6 lety +1

      There are a few options but depends what you are after.You can get Single Din adaptors to take a normal stereo but you'll need to research the correct harness (different ones for bose/half amps/full amped).
      Also I know there are pop out android head units - downside they might cover the coffee cup holder/hazzard switch and esp button (worth googling some install pics).
      The other option which is more involved is going double din dash conversion and grabbing the bits off a car being broken up - there's a few people who have done it on the B6UK group.
