The Imperium has *excellent* logistics for the circumstances.

    • @tau-5794
      @tau-5794 Před rokem +27

      Yep, for every 1 Imperial Navy ship there's 99 similarly-sized civilian commerce ships, often nearly-automated and taking short pre-planned jumps through the warp instead of the faster, but more perilous journeys military forces have to take. Then there's all the system defense ships around every planet, which cannot go FTL but make up for it with heavier weapons for their size, and the fact that even feudal planets with minimal guidance (every month put X tons of material at the spaceport to sacrifice to the god in the sky) can mine enough resources to make a 5km ship in 12 years. The reason why Imperial ships often take so long to build is because many dozens at a time are constructed in each spaceport, and old, destroyed ships are continually salvaged, repaired, cleansed of chaos, and remade, all before factoring in the lengthy rituals and double-checking to make sure every part is in proper order.

      Aye they get hammered and things are likely to move slower than the lightning fast Empire but even if Star Wars ends up on the offensive they'd have to grind through entire world populations that are ready to fight down to the last man reinforced by SMs leading them both strategically and on the battlefield.
      One or two of their worlds don't even have a surface to bombard into dust since the Tyranids beat them to it. They live out of giant caves.

      You're as high as the Japanese leadership during WW2 if you think the Empire 'has to' assault heavily fortified imperium worlds rather than just bomb them until they present no credible naval threat and possibly leave a small naval garrison to ensure anyone left in cover beneath the planetary surface never leaves or just, you know, completely avoids those world and hits worlds less well entrenched with an overkill number of naval assets with hilarious local superiority. Or, you know, use any of the many, many superweapon projects they developed even in Disney cannon to avoid potentially messy ground or space combat entirely. Context is key: the Empire was a militarized police state with no credible external threats that was more concerned with knocking down Joe Q. Public and keeping him there than another similar sized polity seeking its destruction through conventional interstellar war. In other words, you're actually seeing the empire explicitly not firing on all cylinders like they would be when fighting someone like the IOM that could apply the external pressure the IOM can. Once Palpy understands the size of the problem, the IOM's only hope of not being consistently defeated conventionally is for them to use their more developed and better special forces to assassinate him and cause the Empire to schism like it did in cannon. A credible and very easy strategy compared to all other options for either side admittedly, but it's still very much the only win con for the IOM because trying to conventionally fight a similarly sized foe that's much more adaptive with much better communications and travel and logistics and that advances at a much faster rate and is much more standardized just isn't a path to victory just isn't it.

    • @warherojango936
      @warherojango936 Před rokem +7

      @@VunderGuy Issue with that is assuming everything does go smoothly for the Empire.
      All it would take is one move in space by the IOM to catch the Empire in a surprise boarding action to capture Imperial ships or secure a vessel with functional hyperdrives. I'm sure the Empire could win at a distance in space but once a Terminator boarding squad gets aboard a Star Destroyed I'm not liking the Imperials chances.
      If and or when that happens it's over for the Imps since despite their techno heresy the IOM aren't beneath using anything to achieve victory even if it damns them.
      For everything to go perfectly for the Empire you would need somebody like Admiral Thrawn to be running the show and if he's around then somebody like Guilliman could be around too. Star wars would not control the air by any means, even the shielded fighters in star wars don't compare to air units in 40k, which you are obviously ignorant of. The imperial guard alone has more types of fighters than the entire star wars universe has, and they all boast a machine spirit bred and augmented for aerial combat both in the void of space or in atmosphere. They often have heavy armor and weapons that would turn atat walkers into plates of metal spaghetti, and that's just the guard. And if you think star destroyers have a chance you obviously haven't watched the movies from your own universe, where simply moving within the radius of their shields leaves them vulnerable to attack, meaning boarding torpedoes filled with thousand year old, battle hardened, super human warriors can just get inside without even having to fire a shot, then paste the entire crew. The one hope for space faring star wars ships would be to retreat from every planet the imperium of man shows up to, their ability to traverse space without the use of the warp being their only true advantage. Though the imperium wouldn't care, much like in any number of the crusades waged by the imperium, you don't need to out maneuver your foe or beat him to the punch if you can simply drop a single bomb and eradicate their entire people planet by planet, until the only option for the enemy is to face you.

      @@seemslegit6203 and blasters may use plasma tech but they are designed for combat with soldiers wearing armor that bearly stops a lead bullet. Sure larger laser and blaster weapons may compare with a plasma gun, but the standard readily available blaster doesn't make several entire men explode into a fine red mist the way a plasma gun does. And considering storm trooper armor (storm troopers not even being the standard troops of the empire) isn't really made to repel blaster fire, but instead solid projectiles, I wouldn't try to make the comparison that a blaster could kill space marines, who have a decent chance of surviving legitimate plasma guns anyway. Also have you read star wars lore? Blasters suffer from really pathetic lethal ranges, due to energy loss over distance. Space marines engage at ranges that blasters can't even kill at. The imperial guard lasgun, often referred to as an angry flashlight in 40k, has a lethal range of almost triple the e11. And yet your trying to convice me that a bunch of regular people in white plastic, who couldnt hit one farmboy at 50 meters, have a chance against a marine. If I were you I would stick to the logistics argument made by the stormtroopers in the video, it's realistically the only chance the star wars universe has against the imperium of man, which Is probably one of the only factions in 40k that star wars has a hope of even denting. Because even if the star wars lore breaking myths you just stated were accurate, 40k only has to raise you nids or orks.

As for armament I would put the Mega Battle cannon roughly on par with the main cannons on an AT AT in terms of raw firepower per shot and possibly even range, but has severely noticeable disadvantages. It’s a munitions based weapon which means it’s not guaranteed to be loaded with the optimal shell type on contact, it’s more susceptible to environmental factors and harder to aim even given the fact that they’re rocket assisted. It’s also a much slower firing weapon and it’s only real advantage is the fact that it’s turreted, although it’s traverse speed isn’t particularly great and At At’s have demonstrated pretty deft maneuvers to bring itself into proper firing arcs, I’d encourage watching the clip of an At At quickly pivoting to shot down a Snowspeeder in Empire Strikes Back. Unless the Baneblade really gets the drop on an Baneblade, in close enough quarters where aiming isn’t as much of an issue and it can bring its demolisher cannon into bear but far enough away where it’s gun can elevate to attack it, it’s generally going to be at a significant disadvantage. Especially since given the height difference the AT AT would generally be firing down onto the top armor of the baneblade, which is as a rule one of the weakest points of a tank’s armor

    What folks seem to forget is that while yes the Imperium crushes the Empire in ground battles, the Empire absolutely crushes the Imperium in naval warfare. In the time it takes the Imperium to build 1 Battleship the Empire has built a couple dozen Star Destroyers with full compliments of escort fleets, fighters, bombers, and supply ships. Additionally hyperspace travel and FTL communications means the Empire can be anywhere at any time and the Imperium just outright can’t catch them. With probe droids any Imperial ship that falls out of the Warp away from the rest of the fleet has maybe a few hours at best before it’s jumped and torn apart like a buffalo fighting a pack of lions. Even if the Imperium can draw the Empire out into an open naval battle it still loses, because while an Imperial ship has enough firepower to take down a Star Destroyer, they simply cannot bring said firepower online fast enough compared to the Star Destroyer. And of course TIE fighters and bombers make absolute jokes out of their Imperial counterparts. They’re faster, more maneuverable, pack comparable firepower, and they are vastly cheaper to produce.

However, there were Tau assets already in place. Bulwarks of armour and shields, the KV128 ballistic suits had stood silent sentry while the desert exploded. Don't exagerate, depending also in the size and what are you talking about like imperial knights are among most fast but among most small of the titans and this is also because are made to be durable and dangerous when eldars titans are not so durable but are very fast and to you said everything what is wrong, humans are still enough fast but is i think faster at running than orks when space marine can run with average speed of 60km per houer but they can run faster at 100km per houer but not none stop like at the normal speed and eldars like their vehicles and daemons and psykers are out of question because they ignore the laws of logic. Back to my point about imperial knights is to imperial knights walk faster and can also sprint like hound titans what are very fast who can also sprint and i think you understand to they can destroy an AT-AT without to be something too fancy. But talking about faster than light travel is to depends because to with warp travel you won't reach your destination in hundreds of years because the noble navigator will navigate making to reach his destination in a few days if is hard to travel because of a warp storm or something but they can reach also the destination even before it had even leave like you are going somewhere and you arrive much more soon because the time don't exist in the warp and plus to is corrupted can make you to go too soon or too late if you don't have a navigator to know how to travel to arrive at the good moment not too soon or too late.

      The thing is Star Wars has never been clear about that. There are often remarks by characters about programming the nav computer to avoid flying into a star or something. So if they really are entering into some sort of other dimension or whatever why would it be necessary to navigate around planetary bodies? Even if it isn't entirely true because of the lack of clarity I just decided that Star Wars basically doesn't leave real space. Especially when compared to Warhammer.

      @@Full_Moon_Studios actually it is covered in the old star wars lore. If you want a tl:dr, warp drive is actually based on retrofitted rakatan tech and design. The old drives could only travel to dark side nexi, and required a darkside adept to navigate and operate the drive not unlike a 40k navigator, but with a much higher reliance. 26k years later and the new hyperdrives can be run by anyone. The problem of "scattering" in hyperspace comes from gravity, since you're using a parallel dimension to reduce mass and travel ftl. Issue being that if you hit something that is solid while you're superaccellerated and molecularly unstable... Well. To use a 40k term, warpdust. Therefore there is an old hardcoded rakatan failsafe that forces the ship out of hyperspace if it detects a gravity well. That's how/why star wars interdiction/gravitywell generator tech works. It's actually a really interesting part of the lore that's very rarely touched on outside of the EU! At least, interesting to me.

    Both universes are terrific and deserve their fans. In a one on one, the Galactic Empire gives the Imperium a good krumpin’ every time. Their logistical efficiency, capacity for faster-than-light realspace travel, bureaucratic top-down uniformity and the active involvement of their Emperor are all incredible advantages. Not to mention their ability to produce whatever they put their mind to without first searching out STCs to be able to do so. The bottom line: the Empire is a galactic force on the rise, while the Imperium is one in the grip of decline. The Empire also has access to the greatest commander: Thrawn. I’d imagine that Thrawn at the helm of the peak Empire would even give the 41st Millennium Necrons a run for their money.
    In any case, funny video!

    • @yonneye2427
      @yonneye2427 Před rokem

      Except for the fact that no matter how far the Imperium declines, no matter how inefficient, it can never fail. The imperium reason that the imperium hasn’t fallen is the remnants of its previous might, it has access to technology that will last for tens of millennia and can destroy star systems, it has trillions of citizens on millions of planets, a battle in single system in 40k contains more soldiers than all of Star Wars combined. The inefficient bureaucracy doesn’t matter when it is literally too big to fail. Thrawn is displayed as a genius but saying that literally anyone in Star Wars could beat even a single half decent planetary defence force is stupid. In 40k the most basic of weapons that are given to tens of millions are equivalent to Star Wars’ anti tank weaponry. The strongest ship in the empire doesn’t hold a candle to the Imperium’s void shields, macros and lances. The Necrons’ weakest weapon breakdown atoms, their “super weapon” the celestial orrey allows them to literally control all stars in the galaxy. If the Necrons wished they could destroy any non immortal force in either fictional universe. The imperium used to be at an equivalent level, Star War and 40k cannot be compared. At least Star Trek and 40k have similar levels of technology, Star Wars is but a child in comparison.

      @@yonneye2427 Having studied both universes for a long time, I have to say your thoughts on technological imbalance are quite off. I don’t believe the blasters in Star Wars are any weaker than lasguns, and the same could be said of Turbolasers compared to Titan or warship weaponry in 40k. In what way are void shields entirely superior to force fields in Star Wars? Or Ray shields? If you factor in Legends, the powers of the force give a decisive edge to the Empire as well, as Sidious would be more than capable of ravaging entire fleets with force storms. In any case, the Necrons almost certainly have the edge versus any other faction, but in the current setting their division makes them vulnerable, or at least not overwhelming as they otherwise would be. The celestial orrery is an interesting note, but irrelevant. They have yet to use it for a reason - the consequences to the Necrons themselves, indeed the stability of realspace, would be far too dire to be used except in the face of extinction.

    • @yonneye2427
      @yonneye2427 Před rokem

      @@emperornapoleon6204 Blasters create tiny little puffs when they hit something, turbo lasers take multiple hits to take down a building. Lasrifles blow giant chunks out of any unarmored surface they hit, most titan weaponry above scout titans can level small parts of a hive city with relative ease. Most ships from the more specialized factions in the Imperium can purge or even destroy entire planets in mere moments, singular macro cannon shots are larger than many smaller Star Wars ships. These also aren’t just small ships they have the population of towns or small cities. If the Necrons were actually losing they’d bring out their big guns, the celestial orrery was only an example of their power. A single mid sized Necron dynasty has plenty of less galaxy destroying weapons that could easily destroy any weapon the Empire could control, the Necrons even had a better version of the Death Star. Political instability and division cannot be used against 40k factions without also applying it to the Empire, the moffs are hardly cooperative outside their particular sector(s) not to the empire can’t keep a tiny little rebellion at bay. The Imperium does absolutely everything they can to survive 40k, the Empire wouldn’t last a second.
