I grew up watching this video on repeat as motivation to keep working hard. Years later I'm lucky enough to fly the F-18 myself. Thanks for this man.
Well done!.. we used to get RAAF F-18 planes here in NZ👍🇳🇿
Being diagnosed as a diabetic at age 14 pretty much destroyed my dreams to be a pilot in the military, so it's always a thrill to see video from people in the service. Thanks for sharing your experiences with the rest of us!
As a previous member of the VFA-15 Valion maintainers, This video ROCKS! Its very inspiring, especially if your a maintainer. Seeing this video just made me miss the Valions "tear" lol.
im 16 and i plan on enlisting to hopefully be a pilot and with any luck fly f-18s this video is great inspiration to me to keep on a good path and to go along with it
thank you for you service as well as for giving me inspiration
WOW! Totally awesome! That lake at 2:50 reminds me of a time I was at a retreat in the Wenatchee National Forest in Washington... looked up just as I heard a roar coming through the valley to see a gorgeous Hornet banking about 200 feet over the water... come and gone in a blink... totally awesome!
God willing, someday I will be you. This kind of flying is indescribable.
That POV was awesome! Thanks Boss!
Man, he just flicks that thing like it's a race car. There's gotta be some crazy skill involved in that.
This is Valion Pride Knowing him making you a Valient Warrior Go Valions Go Valion Pride Amen.
Fantastic ridealong ..thanks for filming.. not a bad office to work in...
It always amazes me...My dream was always to get one chance. But I'm stuck on Boeings and Airbuses. This is the closest I get. Thank you
my grandfather was admiral Steven Alen Kunkle i was just going through some of his old stuff (i had his helmets old torso harness an his bomber jacket/ it all fits me) (hes still kickin) but i was lookin at some of the patches and callsigns he was vfa 15 during desert storm he also went to top gun (yes i grew up thinking it was a movie about him) im 18 now we dont talk much ive never really heard stories but this is super cool to see
My dad was in this squadron from 1988 - 1990
beautiful shots!
5 Stars. Awesome video especially since I grew up in the northwest and was stationed at NAS Whidbey for 11 years.. I prefer the sound of the jet as opposed to music but it was a good choice of music at least.
Looks and sounds like the Valions from my era.
Thank You, I like it very much
What an incredible ride!
Good stuff! 5 stars!
@0:49 WOW... That jet moves away fast. You guys have wicked good eye sight~!
awesome video, congratulacions.
aeronautic saudations
That name's familar and I know we've crossed paths, but can't place it. I will indeed be out in San Diego in September for my younger brother's wedding (also a Super Hornet pilot). Dad, uncle and Grandfather, all Naval Aviators, will be in attendance as well. Maybe we can do a group push to the Midway Museum!
Navy should be always proud of this elite squadron Go Valion Pride Go.
freakin awesome
My War Birds........VFA-15 1990-1993

Valion '80-'84 (A-7s) Outstanding video!
"U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates wants more UAVs. Already he has said that the next generation of fighter planes -- the F-35 that took decades to develop at a cost of more than half-a-billion dollars each -- will be the last manned fighter aircraft."
I can understand why they made that decision. its such a shame, especially when you see a video like this.
thanks for posting. How fast at the 2min mark and where were ya, if you still recall?
I enjoy some low level flying with my Lancair from time to time...but somehow, it just isn't quite as fast as that Hornet of yours ;)
