  • You know that little small Polish nation state that's a puppet of Austria in Victoria 3? Well from the moment I first opened this game I knew one thing, and that was that I wanted to reform the Polish Lithuanian commonwealth starting as them. This was an impossible challenge in Victoria 2 but in Victoria 3, its a lot easier.
    Join me as I restore the once great Polish empire starting as Krakow. An uphill battle against Austria, Russia and Germany.
    Hope you enjoy this video.

    tbh I'm fine with multiculturalism working the way it does, like in reality the rate of immigration for places like the USA and Brazil are still massively too low compared to the rate at which they grew irl (also in your case I don't think it was too crazy because the main people moving to Krakow were just in the Austrian market and even when you got bigger your most populous cultures made sense), but it shouldn't be so easy to get. Like Intelligentsia are massive goodie two-shoes for the entire game who just like everything good even though in reality they were big supporters of nationalism, 'scientific' racism, and eugenics.
    Like a group who in game terms would be represented by "Intelligentsia" completely fumbled the Hungarian revolution of 1848 because they supported a policy of "Magyarization" of other minorities in the Austrian Empire who would have otherwise supported them.

    • @wilhelmu
      @wilhelmu Před rokem

      in reality inteligentsya were also the main proponents of communism and anarchism in russia and china for example.
      but I guess that reality doesn't fit your narrative. the truth that educated people were drawn to all kinda ideologies while poors didn't even know how to read
      also, nationalism in the 19th century wasn't right wing or authoritarian, it was associated with liberalism and right of every person to decide their fate was seen as synonymous with right of every nation to be independent.

      @CraftsmanOfAwsomenes Před rokem

      @@wilhelmu What the hell are you talking about? "My narrative"? No, I'm just saying every single thing that we consider good should not be associated with only the intelligentsia because it's historically inaccurate depending on time and place and it makes the IG overpowered. You literally agree with me on this based on your own words, but for some reason you felt the need to phrase it as an attack. "Um akshully the Intelligentsia also did other stuff!" is not a coherent response to that because I never said "this is everything the intelligentsia believed ever".

    • @wilhelmu
      @wilhelmu Před rokem

      @@CraftsmanOfAwsomenes your narrative was that inteligentsya was predominatly conservative and nationalistic, while it wasn't
      your other narrative that steams from it means that if inteligentsya was conservative, then non-inteligentsya was not conservative and thus responsible for most of liberal and progressive and socialist movements in that time periods. If we look at non-inteligentsya classes, that leaves us with landed elites, uneducated capitalists and the working class. Out of these three, only the working class would have predominant interest in changing the established order.
      Thus, your implied narrative was a socialist myth about uneducated workers pushing communist ideology in europe. nothing further from the truth: both marx and engels were inteligentsya, as were famous communist leaders like Rosa Luxemburg or Lenin.
      Kropotkin, main theorist of anarchism, was also a highly educated aristocrat.

      As for Nationalism, it was not associated with right wing authoritarian ideology indeed. Instead, it was a radical idea that people can build identity on national and not class or family blood ties, and was closely tied up with liberal notions of self determination. Hardly a "non-partisan" take.
