The Void is a great dude. We sometimes get blackout drunk and we find ourselvs stealing gas masks from the United-Confederation while dual-weilding Golden Miniguns that we stole from dwarfs. Good times...

Now that you mention it: the roof trap is actually the best vanilla 'trap' in the game:
- It only costs 5 material (as opposed to 65 for a spike trap)
- It damages all pawns caught under the roof when destroyed (as opposed to just the pawn who set it off)
- The amount of damage dealt to each pawn is typically more than the average (steel) spike trap.
You should definitely make a video where you investigate this.

I'm kinda surprised at these unorthodox traps that abuses the game mechanics.
The last two pros comfortably put the wall trap into IED section of defenses.
That trap was very smart never thought abut using a wall like that
Plus they have to spend time breaking it, which slows the advance down and breaks them up somewhat

I've lost count of how many mechs i woke up this way and got left to clean up the rest after.

he should try this against the void faction, and ONLY the void faction. Walls will be merely a concept with those guys around.

Ha I planned to play against the actual void, but unfortunately the mod hasn't updated to 1.3 yet
it would probably depend on how long it takes for the void to select one of it's raids with colony wipe as the objective also i'm pretty sure most of the monsters are immune to roof collapsing from memory of a pre ideology playthrough.

Taking the Cannibal Meme is a very good way to cheese Void when he sends constant raids and natural disasters to destroy your food supply.
The raids are your food supply.
Also use the Autopsy mod to remove all the Void faction's organs.

@@chainsawplayin To be fair, on base settings, you get only a small % chance to get the organs untouched if you use herbal medicine or basic medicine. And you need to try to take the organs as soon as the raid stopped because there is only a few hours left. Only using glitterworld tech gives you proper times and good chance to harvest a lot of organs.
Is it possible to change your ideology memes after some point with mods?At first cannibalism would be useful if you're fighting organics,but against killbots going transhumanist would be better (since you have a big endles supply of electronics)

@@TheGrimKleaper I had Randy sent me a thermite raid on day 45, it wasn't a pretty sight. Btw, where is the VOID faction? Also, this strategy will not work against sappers, sorry, but the mid and late game are different story than this early gameplay.
@@zlatanzejnjovanovic5847 VOID faction isn't updated sadly. Also, the strat isn't meant to survive the end game raids. For mid-game, however, you can abuse faction relation mechanics to stall raids until they starve with friendlies
Two minutes in, and I already know that “ape slayer” is going to cause problems.
Malnourished is kinda similar to hypothermia or heatstroke, it’s a debuff that gets more sever with time and takes time to go away, though very quickly.

Haven't tried this storyteller, but sick channel dude! Funny thing about smarter building, it's super unlikely but they still can build themselves in. It happened to Me today lmao
Our local community has frequent challenge run like this to test the metal of our strategy, but the qualifier is 300k wealth or 4 in-game years (but you must escape the planet). It's only at that point that your survival strategy is truly tested and proven valid.

I'd like to see him try the wall mid game. Once enemies start carrying fire axes they absolutely rip through mountains. I had some tunnel through 7 deep of granite in 26 seconds the other day.
It's hilarious, that even to this day, we are still subject to discuss. VOID is eternal.

Also, this video gave me a good idea for my playthrough.
The building a wall and 5x5 roof trap works better if you use a column. Columns have higher value and beauty but less hitpoints, and they can support roof for something like 7 blocks in every direction. This means raiders are far more likely to attack the column, they'll destroy it faster, and the kill radius is much larger. You can also use wood columns and build incendiary IEDs next to them to make the columns fall faster, if you have a mod that adds thick stone roof then you can make the trap far more lethal by building those instead of normal roof

It’s safe to say that this is by far the weirdest Rimworld game I’ve ever seen.
The void raided me 4 days after I downloaded the mod, imagine my surprise when they came at Mach 10, broke down my military checkpoint, walked past my mines, and blasted my farmer in the legs and lungs. Safe to say I reloaded the hell outta that mess

Thanks! To my knowledge, having a full wall off bugs out sapper AI. With breachers, I can never seem to get mechanoid ones. Non-mech breachers aren't a problem because tribals don't have the DPS to get through the walls, and everyone else uses grenades which causes them to hit their allies, bleed out, and flee

So any reason why just building a wall stops the enemies from getting in? Unless I missed something I have no idea why this works.
If a raid isn't a sapper, then the game tracks the amount of damage they've dealt to buildings, if it exceeds a certain amount based on colony wealth the raid will instantly leave. By simply keeping your colony quite poor this value can be low enough to be less than one stone door. But if you get a drop pod raid or a sapper raid you're quite screwed
