    I’m way late again but, I believe the raked wingtip on the 767 came right after the decision to put a raked wingtip on the 777-300. It came about the same time. The later 767 configuration came about the same time as the 777-300. So, as you mentioned, any 767 with the tall winglet is an older/ shorter configuration and the winglet was put on as a retrofit to improve fuel.

    When you load cargo, you are never supposed to move it all the way to one end of the plane or the other. Move a pallet in, move it just to get the next pallet in and so on. That way you don’t tip the plane. Most planes have an automated cargo roller system that moves the pallets for you.

    • @BigJetTV
      @BigJetTV  Před 4 dny

      Another great piece of info 👍🏻 but I have to say, I’ve been inside freighters being loaded (no names 😉) and they have loaded all the way forward/back. I guess with the new electrical systems it’s easier and maybe why they use the tail stand more often 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • @ArnoldAaron
    @ArnoldAaron Před 6 dny +2

    Just to point out, Jerry....Rudder is not required when on the final approach....the crab angle into the wind occurs naturally, as long as your track (path over the ground) is headed for the runway when flying along the localiser (runway centreline). The wind naturally causes that crab angle, as the wind carries the aircraft sideways. Then, just before touchdown, the pilot flying kicks in a little rudder to straighten up the aircraft with the runway (which we can often see in your footage), at the same time counteracting any sideways move with opposite aileron. The bigger the cross wind, the more you can see these effects as the aircraft touches down.

      Thanks Arnold. I got it confused with adding left or right trim in an engine failure scenario. Thanks for the feedback and please keep that kind of info coming 👍🏻

    Yes, there is very easily 2 sides to the nonconforming parts situation. However, You NEVER put nonconforming parts on a new build in the factory except for a very well understood and negotiated condition with the FAA. I know this….a very long time ago i put used engines on new MD11s in order to keep the factory moving because Pratt and GE did not have the new engines available yet for the new airplanes. That allowed us to fly the planes to another location for the final installation. The FAA was involved throughout the entire process.

    A true 747 freighter has a shorter upper deck, a door at the nose, and a door behind the wing. A passenger conversion just has the door behind the wing.

  • @stevenb7779
    @stevenb7779 Před 6 dny +1

    A nonconforming part does not mean it’s a bad part. Simply, the part is out of conformance to the blueprint specification. When that happens, a tag is written and engineering provides a disposition. Many, many times, the engineer comes back with “use as is” meaning, install the part. There could be additional instructions and etc. But, with the tag and disposition, that part is now documented and tied to that specific aircraft….full paperwork trail. This is not uncommon. A supplier gets it wrong or something happens during the build process. Engineering runs their tests and assures the use of the part will not change fit, form, or function. If 20 parts come from a supplier with a nonconformance, instead of scrapping them, can we use them until the supplier get’s the fix in their process to assure future conforming parts? Very clear and strict process for this situation.
