I've never been a hardcore LP fan to be honest. My ex best friend used to listen to them all the time though, and I know plenty of their songs - I fondly remember her turning on their live dvd from texas 2003 whenever we hung out. I never listened to the newer albums either, because I just stopped listening to other than the stuff they play on the radio, and got lost in the generic stuff. So I haven't been listening to other than that for a long time now. Which I regret. Those songs say nothing compared to what LP has to offer, and other bands in the rock genre and so on.
Because of that I feel kinda bad for mourning Chester, why? I don't know. Maybe because "you never appreciate things until it's gone". I feel bad because I never took the time to look up and support the new things they made - I just never took the time. And time is a valuable thing, right? I feel sick to be one of those who mourns Chester but never appreciated him for what he made today, and not only the old stuff which I remember from my teens.
Chesters passing hit me HARD, like really hard to be honest - for not being a "hardcore LP-fan". I've been feeling down for a couple of days now since his passing, only it took me a few days to really process what had happened. I've been thinking about my relationship with LPs music, and about his family and friends which he left behind. He seemed to be such a good, genuine, caring person and an inspiration for so many people, and I find it so heartbreaking to loose such an individual, especially in the way the world lost Chester. I've been crying, alot - and I've never reacted so hard to a "celebrity" passing on. But Chester was different, he touched so many, and it is so sad that our shitty world has lost another individual that makes life a bit better for people - not to talk about his family and friends who lost a loved one. I still find it hard to grasp that he is gone, and I really feel that am missing a piece of myself for some reason, which, as I mentioned before, is strange since I never labeled myself as a "hardcore LP-fan". But he did indeed touch me through their music in some way, obviously. I feel an incredible guilt and emptiness.

anile. You literally said exactly what I've been going through. We are the same in pretty much everything. Chester is the 1st celebrity I've ever cried over as well. I wish I had kept up with them too.
I only listened to "Numb" and "In the end" because those songs really described me at a certain point. The last time I heard "Numb" was when I was out with my friend last weekend. As soon as it came on I completely jammed out again because that song applied so much to my life and I relived those emotions.
It was then 4 days later he passed away, and everything came flooding back. All the emotions were mostly full of shock, confusion, and guilt, because up until that point I never checked out his newest songs to listen to. It's because of that that I never realized how much he was truly hurting and how much those songs still apply to my life.
It's clear to say that this past week and even now I'm still completely torn over him and I too have cried a lot. After listening to his One More Light album, in addition to his other albums, it feels like I lost a friend that I never gave enough time to be around for. I feel like I don't deserve to be crying over him like this but at the same time after listening and learning to all that he went through, how can one not cry over him?
I just hope that by now he has found peace, wherever he may be. And I hope you can find peace within yourself too with not feeling bad about not listening/being a super-fan like other people. You're not alone.
anile. it's almost like reading my own story. I had barely known his last name before I read the news headline saying "Chester Bennington dies..." and it really hit me harder then I thought it would. I feel ashamed that I didnt care more, that I didnt keep track with LP music, that I didnt go to any of their concerts.. Since his death, one day hasnt gone by that I wouldnt think about him and the stuff that he had to go through to make this decision, and also trying to understand why.. People are so fake with their R.I.P Chester because I remember when Linkin Park released their new songs, they keep blabbing about "NOT THE SAME MUSIC AS THEY USED TO KNOW" etc. and the old "FANS" disliked the music video. I already knew that that song was about mental illness and what he's going through was really HEAVY. You didn't appreciated what those songs was all about when he's alive and now they come back and be like "OHHH, It's meaningful now" I can't even put into words how i feel today. Since I heard about Chester's death I've been suffering inside so hard... but I wouldn't let me cry bc my friends and family always say "I'm too dramatic" or "too emotional"... Until CZcams brought me to this song. Then I couldnt control myself and started crying front of my sister. I'm so heartbroken. Only god knows how much i'll miss hearing him sing. I still can't believe the amount of pain he was carrying alone... 😔
Me too.. It's been hard to process.. I am a grown man unaffected by most things but I find myself on the brink of tears anytime I think about it or listen to their music. Amazing how he touched so many of our lives in such a personal way we feel as though a family member died. Wish there was something we could of done for him.
Cameron Dombroski yes, it became a personal loss for so many people... I think we did save him in a way all of this years when he was channeling his demons trough music we ended up loving. But even if the odds seem to be in favor, there are battles that can't be won. Sooner or later our battle will come too.

You really look at all the lyrics differently now. Even the name of the songs. Been listening to LP for as long as I can remember. When I was going through difficult times their songs would always somehow give me a release and be the catharsis I needed. I feel so much for Chester's family and friends he leaves behind. With what must have been a lifelong battle of clinical depression, if there's any solace it's that Chester is finally at peace.

I have epilepsy. You have no idea how this song tore me apart the first time I heard it last month when my brother showed it to me. I sat and cried.
I could never understand how some people can be so devastated when a singer dies, until a few days ago... It hit me so hard, and I never was a "real" fan, just appreciating the music of Linkin Park and Chester's voice and the deep lyrics. I know it sounds like a cliché, but this guy saved my life when I was a teenager (I'm 32) and even in my twenties the music helped me so much I can't really put it into words. It's as if he has cried out stuff for me that I could never express.
I'm highly sensitive and I don't care if you believe me or not, I could feel the sympathies from all over the world, I totally knew I and a million other people listen to the same songs right now, and we all feel the same... I could sense it, don't ask me how or why. Then I searched online and I found all these comments, the people are feeling me and I am feeling them and we all have been feeling Chester whenever he sang for us. Guys, we're gonna make it. In whatever situation you are - you're not alone.
I kind of know everything is always right and according to God's plan, we just don't see it.
My Dad was a musician too (Guitar) and he passed away last november. Chester's kids are in my prayers, as well as his wife, and every one who is reading this and feels the same! God Bless.

I am the same way. Never understood how people could be devastated when a singer dies. I been a long LP fan, I mean long fan. Every album felt like it was speaking something that I was deeply going through. It helped me through my abuse of my parents, the bullying at school, and depression. And I cried when I heard about Chester's death.

He was severely depressed and after the death of Cornell, he found it very difficult for himself. Then people started insulting the band and him for the music he was then writing. With severe depression it can only take something small to tip you over the edge.
It's a shame some people stopped appreciating him and his music while he was still alive, such a tragic loss.

The whole album isn't bad at all. I came here because I just listened to it and this song is, along with Sharp Edges, one of my favourites. I understand how hardcore fans might be disappointed because they want the sound from 2000 but honestly.. things change.
1. LP is a band that can make music however they like. They need to feel comfortable with it. (I seriously read a comment saying that a band needs to respect the taste of fans and needs to do music old fans like... Wrong!)
2. Just because they made an album some hardcore fans don't like doesn't mean they sold out or betrayed anyone.
3. Hating this band now for one album you dislike because you're stuck in 2003 is fcking immature.
4. If you go to their concerts, they will proooobably still play some of the old songs you love, the band is still the same and still has the same energy
5. If you don't like one album, listen to the other ones. No reason to get butthurt and start hate speeches everywhere.
Somehow, people are suddenly becoming pros in music business and psychology, commenting on why the band has changed, how this reflects their personality and what this does to fans who stuck around for ages. Bullshit. They know nothing. They are just mad that the sound from 2000 is being "taken away" in this album. This happens. Remember how many people turned their back on Avril Lavigne because she grew up, wore more dresses instead of ties and baggy pants and sang more uplifting songs? Even though I was disappointed in 1 or 2 albums, I never spread any hate about her. I still went to see her live, I am waiting for a new record. And it has been 15 years now, I am still supporting. When she was wearing her old clothes for a video and did a little more rock in her songs, some fans loved it, others said that its sooo 2002, immature and embarrassing, she needs to grow up. You cannot please everyone, apparently. Still, no need for insulting. What I mean to say is: Control your hate!

This song and the other symphony song by Clean Bandit is so good ❤️First heard these 2 songs in PES 2018 and since then,these 2 had always being my fav songs
One More Light has become so difficult to listen to since Chester's passing. The lyrics are those from a man who seems to have already given up, and every song has this foreshadowing feeling of what was to come. OML is literally an album saying, "this is it guys, this is where I stop." And while it's not the most popular or most liked by a long shot, I'm happy to have something that really slows down the pace and explains what Chester was thinking and feeling on a personal and deeply emotional level.
While we mourn his death, Linkin Park is one of those triumphant groups that can adapt to so much...perhaps we will find some closure in the coming months.
Linkin Park will forever be a beautiful story burned into our minds; one that was blessed with high energy, fun times, weird twists littered among the nostalgia, and ultimately, a reflection of the reality beneath the music which makes us hear it so differently the second time around. But I'm almost certain the story isn't over.

That day I was so happy because early morning I went to get tattoo for the first time in my life with my brother. My brother had already planned for his tattoo but I have no idea at all. And then I remember of my fav. band Linkin Park. I am 21 years right now but then I am Linkiner since I was on school. Every time when I get a chance to listen to music I used to listen to linkin park. So, I was so happy that I got Linkin Park tattoo on my hand. I was feeling awesome. After I get that tattoo I was listening to linkin park music continuously and then me & my brother went to restaurant to eat some thing coz we were hungry. Then while we were having our lunch, I cried cried & cried coz I saw a post saying R.I.P. Chester . I was so broken at that time coz I had a dream watching Chester live in front of me in my life. That day I was totally broken and out of my mind. I cannot forget that day never ever in my life. I am missing him so much. I cannot forget him my legend.

The sad part, for me, is I was actually planning to go to their concert coming up this year because I really enjoyed this album. I had it on repeat while doing my summer semester assignments. Then we got the news that Chester is no longer with us. Only the real fans understand how difficult this is to fathom. I knew Chester had a condition that he was trying to battle, I know it must have been hard for him to cope. I grew up listening to Linkin Park. I have all of their albums (NOT BOOTLEGGED). So it kinda hit home for me when I found out the news. This album, even though people hated it, sounds amazing; unfortunately, it makes me question if it was his suicide note and no one really noticed. Coincidence? Maybe. My condolences go out to his family and friends, they are the ones actually impacted by this. RIP Chester. Gone but never forgotten.

I feel really sad for Chester, I always liked Linkin Park and all of their albums and I never cared about their change of style... because it wasn't such big change = it was natural evolution of band... it was still Linkin Park! (my favourite album is A Thousand Suns... that one is pure masterpiece for me)
but with this last album I don't know... the change of style this time, was really big and I think it is their worst album... It was first time I was dissapointed in LP album... but yeah, I finally listened to the album and well, 5 songs are great (Good Goodbye, Talking to Myself, Nobody Can Save Me, One More Light and the best song on the Album - Sorry for Now) These songs are really great... but I found the rest exact opposite...
