red sweet candy is probably guaba flavor in spanish called guayaba, tons of sweet are made of it on ecuador, there is a paste like cube called membrillo i really like to eat from time to time and also the guayaba mermelade (jam) is one of my go to for cheese and butter sandwich. there is also guaba juice.

I’m from USA. My boyfriend is Brazilian. We have been staying here in Brazil. But I’ve been researching Cuenca for s few years for my retirement life. We will arrive in cuenca on 1 February. Those hot dogs look like what they create here in Brazil. Just about everything and anything is piled on top of a hot dog and bun here in Brazil.
I'm sure you will love Cuenca. I think it's just heaven on earth. It truly is my happy place. My husband said that was one of the best hot dogs he's eaten and he is not a big hot dog fan. It was. When we were here last year I wasnt acclimated to the elevation yet. There are sooo many stairs here, the score was stairs-100 Sandy-0..it was a hot day and I got down to the end of a flight of stairs and there was this beautiful lady selling this green concotion. I didn't care, i bought it and the first sip was salty and sour, my body was like "Thank You" My second sip was OMG this is sooo good and then there were shavings of mango in it too so I got to eat something all in the same and it was wonderful. This trip I learned they call it a Mango Michelada..no beer in it. Thanks for watching and listen to me ramble about this beautiful green dyed drink. P.s. I'm pretty sure you would love it too.

You are very welcome. We researched Ecuador for a little over 10 years before we took our exploratory trip. Initially we were going to check out Cotacachi and then changed when we started reading about Cuenca. I'm so glad we changed our trip, we instantly fell in love with this beautiful city and have made some amazing friends we now call family. I call Cuenca my Garden of Eden. There is so much to do, so much to explore and when you just want to relax.. the parks are all so gorgeous just to sit back and absorb all of Cuenca and nature's beauty. yay! I've got all of those and several others on Eric's list to try. The tortillas look so good, they're on the list too. I wish I could try them. I'm going to try and find a place that does all vegan equadorian food so I can enjoy the culture as well. Or make it myself and do a side by side comparison with Erics.

the boiled eggs had ground cumin, black pepper and salt. You can put that mix on regular boiled eggs and you get the same flavor.

I would appreciate if you would do a few analysis videos to help out people who are on their way as I am in November. Costs and logistics. Just simply appreciate the big brain you have and needing some direction for housing with pets allowed.

This was on Cuenca's Independence Day which is the whole week of November 3rd. But they have a lot of festivities all the time where the local vendors are out selling all their goods and great food.

We are very close to El Vergel. I asked our Airbnb host if this was the El Vergel area and he stated they just call it by the stadium. In our video from last year..best views from Cuenca we have the airbnb link listed in the description. The terrace is amazing. Quiet? It is a quiet area for the most part. I guess it just depends on where you are from. If you are from a rural area maybe not so much, if you're from a bustling city then maybe yes. I've lived in both..a big noisy city and the quiet you can hear a pin drop can't see your hand in the dead of night country and the vibe and expressions of Cuenca are right up my alley. Well that's not a very nice comment. Do you never barbecue outdoors? If not you're missing out on some great flavors. But anyway, I had no digestive issues at all. Everything was delicious! As a certified food handler I can assure you as long as everything is prepared and held properly (temp wise) it is completely safe to eat. I know what I'm doing, and what to look for safety related.
