I saw Watcher at home and I really loved it, I heard it was slow so I was worried I’d be bored but I thought the tension was so great and I was always on the edge of my seat even if it was just Julia walking around or the two characters talking, I also love the tension that the unknown language added as well as it’s pay off

I watched the Watcher at home, and I absolutely loved it. Maika Monroe was so good and the small details like her tears staining her silk blouse or the stalker leaning slightly into her personal space at the movie theatre are just CHEFS KISS.

No, no, no, you are never too harsh! As a critic, you must be honest. My favorite critic of all time, the late great Roger Ebert (I'm old!) could really skewer a movie. And some movies I liked he totally ripped apart. And I love your sense of humor ("....the horror graveyard where horror movies go to die" LMAO). Stay true to yourself! Keep the faith!

I think when you’re open about liking films that are often critically panned, you earn the right to be critical of movies people often like. You’re super honest about your taste and what works for you and doesn’t, and you’re very self aware when it comes to your “guilty pleasure” movies. Opinions are just opinions and these are just movies. I always love hearing you talk about them.

I'm gonna have to watch this.
That reminded me when I was 14 and went to Germany with my grandma.
She's from Schwetzingen and speaks both German and English, while I only knew English. So her sisters, their husband's, and their children all only knew German.
When we had dinner my grandma would be talking to them laughing and I'd just be sitting there like, "ahaha but not really knowing anything they were saying.
I'd keep asking my grandma to translate, and they'd ask her to translate for them. Which got tiring for my grandma of course.
There was one day where my grandma's sister's kids (I'm better at math than family trees so whatever that is in relation to me lol!) But they asked me to spend the night.
They said we'd all go to this castle and garden area, get food, and then drop me off in the morning. My grandma let me go, but I was definitely anxious.
They had a German English book to try and translate, but we played chess together and although we didn't understand each other's languages we still had a great time.
There were definitely times though when the loneliness of not knowing what anyone is saying and being a teenager myself I was insecure.
So at times I wondered, "what if they're talking about me?" But that quickly went away because they made me feel very welcome and my grandma is an amazing woman.
I wish I valued that trip better though. I was gone for a month and of course because I'm 14 and had a bf (if you'd call it that) I got homesick.
About the 3rd week in I was really missing home. They had amazing ice cream there, but a waiter tripped and spilled coffee all over me lol.
They had Eminem on the radio which I thought was crazy cause that night I was hanging out I was singing to the song and they were shocked I knew all the words. So that was funny.
I enjoyed seeing all the animals at the zoo I went to. It was an open place so as I was walking through this garden area I had a peacock befriend me and follow me side my side the whole way til I left.
I got to see otters playing and going down this waterfall type thing up close that was adorable to watch. I got to get super close to the tigers and watch them feed, which was so much more different than I was used to back home.
Now that I'm older I wish I could do it all again. I'll always remember that trip. I couldn't imagine having someone watching me in a situation like that though. I already felt isolated and was anxious. It would be truly awful. I'll have to give Watcher a watch.

Always stay true to yourself. If you don't like something, then you don't like it. It's better to be honest and authentic than to try and say what you think people want to hear. Besides, you always try to acknowledge any good points about a film even when you didn't like it. You also explain *why* you don't like something. So, no, not too harsh at all. As a Cronenberg fan, while I don't consider Crimes of the Future as one of his best, I did enjoy it. It's the kind of film only he could make and I admire his unique vision. I agree about Watcher. I went into it expecting a much more stabby kind of horror film but found myself engrossed in a very effective suspense film, one that oh so gradually builds up and keeps you guessing. And then ends with an explosive, dynamic climax. A pleasant surprise.

Hi Sarah, I sincerely enjoy your videos. I was wondering, I know you aren't very well-read with classics, but I love to see your thoughts on Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, I love to see you compare that book, with the adaptations like the 1949 Disney film version and the Tim burton version. Also, I want to let you know is that you might have difficult time reading that book because of the language, the book was published in 1820, so the language is different than how modern books typically read. I know you aren't into animated films; I love to see your thoughts on The Adventures of Mr. Toad and Icabod Crane 1949 film, that version (I'm talking about the Icabod segment) is narrated by Bing Crosby.

i would suggest alien isolation as a videogame. i loved it and it takes roughly 32 hours to get through but has some really nice visuals and a decent story. it takes place in between alien and aliens and follows the daughter of ellen ripley as she sets out to get reassurance and answers and ends up as usual realizing that she is not alone out in space lol. as far as a movie i just watched suspiria and loved it but was extremely confused and want a review on that if possible. thanks!

Yesss please review horror games occasionally! Really enjoy a bit of a different medium now and again. Your partner should totally pop in and join in the discussion perhaps? Like what he thought of the game play and whatnot 🙂

Your so similar to me… except I could be your mother… I love watching my son play video games !! I can’t play worth anything but my love for them is so real!!
    It’s so fun watching.. 🤣🤣♥️
I loved the Watcher too!! I didn’t know anything about it going in at the theater .. I think that’s why I loved it so much.. It felt like I was watching an old Alfred Hitchcock movie.. when I left the Theater I was so satisfied .. hadn’t felt like that in a long time!!
    Great review!! ♥️♥️

the fact we havent even gotten a house tour of photos for BB yet is odd, like the cast i get because covid happened last year and someone had to leave before they entered so they are playing it safe, but no house tour or photos??? idk its odd to me but i hope last season was a sign things are gonna get better because BB has been very not good in the past few years and 23 was a nice change lol
Also LOVED the quarry, im even more scared of horror gamest then horror movies lol but that game was just right for me and i enjoyed it, cant wait to see your review of it whenever you get to it!
and just side note: im REALLY hoping July gives us the Halloween Ends trailer, ive been dying to see SOME sort of footage lol

I saw black phone but at the same time did literally forgot about. I was trying to think of the last movie I went to see which had been less then a week before and it took me a good ten or so minutes to remember it was the black phone.

I am 95% like you when it comes to watching but not playing horror games. I have played several but mostly I watch. The Quarry is great and we burned through it but Until Dawn is absolutely their best imo. My favorite horror game to watch/play is surprisingly Dying Light 1 and 2. We played through number 2 three times in a row for a month. So fun.

A fairly easy one that my husband and I played recently is Little Nightmares. I thought the atmosphere was great and there were only a couple of sequences he had to beat for me lol

I would love if you made a video of you playing The Quarry, but I understand if that's not possible. I've watched several people play through it and their decision making and reactions were so fun to watch.

solstice was my very first horror movie as a scaredy cat little preteen and it scarred me so bad....i was too scared to be in the shower alone for YEARS my poor mother had to stand outside the door 😭😭
i rewatched it last year and actually came out as a lesbian to my mom during it so it's honestly crazy how this random teen horror has been intertwined in my life throughout the years!
