They're actually called "Secret Denmark", and yes they are one of the preset nations who appear with fantasy random new world. They're always a zoroastrian ogliarchic republic.

It's Paradox's nod to a famous screenshot of a broken mod, where nation adjectives got jumbled up, thus "Secret Denmark" appeared in Greenland
Once had a CK2 game where Denmark had a child of destiny. I have no idea how, but the next time I looked at Denmark it had been conquered by muslims. He assembled an army of adventurers to retake his throne, lost, converted to Islam, and lived out the rest of his days in North Africa as an unlanded courtier. He was known as Uyyaid "the Great."
Last time I generated a random new world (I deleted the fog) and a nation was an English Evangelical (in 1444) monastic order and their adjective was Mormon.
There was also Vinland and an advanced Burning Empire.

It always seems like the random new world never generates enough land, and is too far away from Europe and Africa. Colonial ranges are designed around the actual placement of continents, so changing that too much results in the colonizers being unable to reach things for a long time
That and the AI will not colonize provinces which aren't upstream of their home trade node.
This is why you'll never see Ming or Japan colonize Louisiana or Eastern America, but only the West coast and Mexico.

There is a mod that ensures larger continents spawn before the small islands and actually makes this somewhat usable.
The real cursed content here is flat dev.
I remember this DLC being a bit of a big deal because it took the idea from an EU3 mod that randomized not only the Americas but also Africa and 'Straya which was neat to see being supported officially. Also this was the first EUIV DLC, it made people very optimistic about the DLC that would come after it

You got unlucky. There are at least like 3 huge landmasses that can ben generated.
Yes that's still too few, but they are there and when they do spawn tey are decently fun to play, and the AI will interact with them.
I had this one game where i played a custom nation on a random continent and beside the normal colonisers, Navarra, SARDINIA PIEDMONT (they never form), morrocco, the ottomans, and OMAN tried to colonize!
in the ongoing anime Vinland Saga the main character is Thorfinn and hes goes to Vinland 11:42

For me random worlds were ruined when they went from actual random worlds to randomly chosen and placed select pieces.

I was super excited for the feature, but was disappointed because no matter what craziness it gens, you always end up with less overall land. If it genned more complete continents instead of random island smatterings I would actually use it.
Plus, incompatible with Vic2 so no Grand Campaigns

I know at least one of those mods are now integrated into the game, but even with them you still end up with like 1/10th to MAYBE 1/2 the total land mass at BEST.And as noted, you can't do anything with the world after that because Paradox refuses to just give us Vicky 3 already goddammit

I don't remember where I saw it, but one randomly generated map looked like two different examples of a class project the teacher would show the class. The southern hemisphere looked like an A+ project and the northern hemisphere looked like a D-.

After watching this video, I played around with the Random New World some and man is it shit. I found one New World that could almost have been interesting, the twist being that the New World is closer to Asia than Europe, but there was only one medium sized continent and a smattering of islands, way too much open space. That is the problem with the Random New Worlds, too much open space.
It'd be interesting to see what could happen if you could set parameters to the New World, like setting up a world in the Civ games. If you could set it to generate an archipelago, or a couple of continents, or a giant landmass, the might make it a lot better.
Knowing Paradox, though, fixing something that has been in their game almost since release would be a $20 DLC.
Actually since EU4 is using a flat projection of the earth, this long stripe of land is very wide at the equator and very narrow at the poles.

I looked at the mythical places that this feature puts in the game on the EU4 wiki mixed with Wikipedia research and it had some neat stuff there. The Chinese one is based off of their mythical island version of Heaven. It also has: Lost Balkans, Secret Denmark, Order of St. Joseph, Lemuria (a scientific theory super continent that expanded the entire Indian Ocean dating to the 1800's). There's also an Egyptian one called Kemet based off of Heyerdahl's theory that the ancient Egyptians could've crossed the Atlantic if they wanted too, a nation based off of the Lost Templar fleet that fled France when the order was disbanded in the early 1300's, the lost tribe of Israel and even Atlantis itself.
Not going to lie though, as someone who loves Ireland, I wish they would've included the mythical Great Ireland based off of indigenous tales that they told the Vikings when they were in the new world of a mythical land of white men who acted like the Celts of Ireland.

Anhalt is the strongest German nation, Transoxiana is THICC, Mamluks took out the Ottomans, Saruhan controls Greece but not Saruhan, Transylvania exists, Poland chose a local noble, Aragon is Spain, Venice formed Yugoslavia, Sweden is taking out Muscovy like nothing, and FERRARA is about to form Italy!
Oh, and lets not forget how Byzantium is an OPM in Athens.
In my first eu4 game Transoxiana is even thiccer they're like the new mongol empire and Russia was partitioned between Sweden Poland and Kazan...

Any time I play as a colonial nation, Europe just explodes. It's like the AI has no idea what to do when they can't reach the player and mess with them. I honestly bet if you made a custom nation on a normal new world, you'd see similar AI shenanigans.

The last time I checked out random nw, I found the worst was how janky the trade routes were. They were just non-sense with crazy choke points you needed to control or you were shit out of luck.

Used to play rise of kingdoms, it is a really good game. Only problem is if you do not log on for one day you are screwed and way behind everyone (there are a lot of fresh servers) and you have to start on a new server.
Same happens on Civ4 Colonization, New World is almost always 3 small islands
Vinland wasn't a fantasy land, its current name is Newfoundland, when the Vikings landed they called it Vineland and settled until they were forced to leave due to hostile natives and supply issues
Those guys were all basically living in a bigger Serpent's pass.
one of the interesting things about Vinland is it is oe of the few ways in the game to access the norse religion

The High American has the same tech penalty as the Western tech group. 0%. Thats what makes it special.
Also, High American doesn't give you European units. Vinland has them because they are European.

Tbh in HoI4 I only play with the ‘random countries’ mod.. because it’s just far more interesting. And in the end you had an amazing experience in a war nobody else has ever seen before.
