    The guy I met over 8 months ago and i thought was an adorable person turned out to be a liar. His words didn't match his action. He even confessed this to me and said he was horrible at relationship and asked to be patience.
    I tried so hard to be patience but it seem to get worse with many small lies and it was really upsetting me.
    I just finally told him he lied to me from the start and I could no longer be friends any longer with him.
    This is disappointing and very sad to me because I really liked him but I can't deal with a liar.

    Finding out that someone lied to you simply sucks. But instead of getting into a screaming match, it's helpful to find out why they did it in the first place.

    My 9-year-old daughter (who loves your videos) has just seen the title of this video. She has a perfect answer to "Why do men lie?"

      Theodore Ey Usually to protect the person's feelings.

    • @kylasacha
      @kylasacha Před 9 lety +2

      Theodore Ey I think that deception along with dishonesty is a whole other issue. For instance, a person who cheats on someone and orchestrates a deception around their unfaithfulness has bigger issues than someone who lies about, say for instance, their past to protect someone's feelings. I'm not sure if that makes sense? I'm an incredibly honest person by nature, and the only time I've lied in a relationship is when I knew that the honest answer would be something that would deeply hurt the other person. I wasn't completely honest because I knew that they wouldn't be able to handle the truth. And from that instance I've learnt that in a healthy relationship you shouldn't need to cover up any aspects of yourself for the sake of another person's feelings...you should be completely yourself and allow things to take place naturally. If you are completely honest and they can't handle it then that is unfortunately their issue (speaking about your past in this instance...things you can't change.) I hope this makes a bit of sense? :-)

    • @kylasacha
      @kylasacha Před 9 lety +3

      Theodore Ey Oh yes I absolutely agree with you there. Dishonesty in general is wrong. I think the thing which frustrates me most as a woman is how men will often cover up for each other in the whole lying thing, whereas I've never known a woman to cover up for her female friend. Maybe I have a certain level of understanding for someone who lies to protect someone elses feelings, which may come across as less of a selfish act, than someone who lies to gain something with selfish motives. And I'm not saying that men or woman do whichever more. Unfortunately the people in the world are losing their character more and more each day and its very difficult to spot people with genuine integrity these days. Thats why I really enjoy how Matthew Hussey explains how to recognise someone with true integrity. I think this is a debate that has many views in numerous directions. ;-)

    I know some women who barely say a true word,it's not just men. I think it comes from wanting to impress somebody. Rather than saying what they think ,they say what they think they're expected to say.
    Also, I'm really impressed by the Jamie Cullum answer. I agree; passion is a beautiful thing. Especially when its for something creative because I think creativity is like an extension of the soul.

I can relate to the perfect timetable for studying as well, so thank you for that quote on your desktop. You really have an amazing mind (to sum it up shortly ;)). I also really enjoy how you incorporate humor into every situation. I would've loved to talk to you in person and just listen to you. I hope to develop to be as mindful, fun and humoristic as you in the near future.

  • @and_were_just_supposed_to_4110

    I love the idea where guys send in videos along with the girls. It really brings in all different kinds of perspectives. Speaking of perspectives... Of course I love when Matthew answers pure relationship questions... But I also really love the addition of more general questions tying it into relationships but also very relative to life in general. I've found that those types of questions are sometimes the most insightful because one can compartmentalize life- everything from relationships, to career, to travel, to family... Whatever... It all connects.

    Matthew. . Thank you for this video on insecurities, organizing and why do men lie. I had to pause this several times to write down the saying you keep on your desk top.. it is so me to try and get everything perfect before I start doing what I am supposed to be doing and never getting it done in a timely manner due to the fact I too busy preparing. I just broke up with a guy who constantly lies?? on LITTLE things?? there have been a few big things too.. I could not understand why lie about anything? after listening to your answer it opened my eyes to his reasons for lies.. and I truly knew a year and a half ago this man was not for me.. there were so many red flags and I ignored them? He has constantly lied over the stupidest things, he has cheated right in front of my face and still lied about it? I am so hurt and angry at myself for being so stupid. Thank you again.

    I watched this for the title...and, indeed, it was the "small "innocuous"" lies just adding up. I never called him out on it bc I could not prove it from long distance. Some things just didn't make sense, and also there was a pattern. As you said, because he wanted things both ways. Ending it doesn't hurt any less, because I really care(d) for this man. But, in the end it was the "small straw" that finally broke the camel's back.

(An incredibly redundant statement 😀) I always strive to be 100% in everything I do and then I end up getting burnt out and passive. But I also have the mentality that you should always do everything with that drive because it conveys that you care and it's worth something to you. However, I think Ill take your advice to your younger self and don't go full fury force off the bat and expect perfection.

    Matt,and others, let me tell you something about insecurity and aging. When you get a bit older and have made something of your life (on your journey) the insecurities are less present. HOWEVER I am now beginning to focus on what things I had done, and sometimes you second guess, and the "would have's" occur. That is the flip side of the insecurities of your youth, simply because you don't have the mileage on your wheels and you are still learning. Now, in the youth of the elder years, we see what we messed up on, and regret can be there. But, if one is not too hard on themselves, we can also see our accomplishments. They should stand alongside and not be ignored. The regrets, hopefully, can be fixed. If they cannot be fixed or amended, they might be learned from. Now I teach them to young folks, hopefully they might listen. That is the role we must play as we get older..

    I adore Jamie Callum and he is a jazz musician out of place in this day and age and that's why I love his music and his personality.

    I love this video! Recently I was madly in love with someone. He portrayed himself as kind, loving, accepting. Something out of this world. But when I looked up his name on Facebook I found out that he had a wife. Although I don’t know it is the truth, I feel used, manipulated, stabbed in the back and really broken. I don’t know what to do.
