You revealed your secrets! This is awesome, empowering others to experience the same joy as you got from these mods! Thank you!
Hehe, not really secret, but it's a build philosophy that seem to work well.
And yes, definitely interested in why you set your shocks this way (especially at the front). This is the most condensed and best explained SCX24 modding video ever. I can't wait to try out your mods.
Glad it was helpful! And I will add shock setup video to my list.
Just wanted to say a thank you for sharing your setup.
I tried to replicate the idea on my Mini-Z 4x4 playing with different weights, mountings, setups and testing different weight distributions, 60-40, 55-45 and 50-50.. I can definitely notice how well the car climbs with 60:40, but due to the hard-body and high COG it tips forward too easily, 50-50 lost alot of climbing ability, I finally settled on 55-45 as a good balance for my car. This setup actually lost some overall weight, which reduces stress on the servo and motor, I quite enjoy the lightness in driving.
Pls keep doing what you do, love all the details, analysis and actual testing to back up the mods, not just adding as much weight to the car as possble. Thanks again! Now, let me go order that SCX24!
Thank you for the kinds words. 60/40 is an ideal weight distribution, but I look at it as a starting point to fine tune from there. The end result will differ based on all the characteristics as you stated. I am glad that you found a weight distribution that works for you. Definitely pick up SCX24. I still believe it to be one of the best mini RC crawlers. Can't wait to hear what you think comparing to Mini-Z.
I had searched your previous uploads for exactly these information! Thanks for sharing your secrets - another great vid from you. Happy holidays to you and all SCX24 fans :-)
Awesome, thank you!
Excellent video! Simple, concise, common sense upgrades. My C-10 is set up similarly and works great.
Great to hear!
@@BigSungHobbies I've installed the Crawler Innovations micro "soft" foams in the front wheels. They'er very wide! I cut the foam to match the width of the RC4WD foams. (You can almost get three from one) There is a noticeable difference in tire conformity and I found the crawling ability to improve. I think you'll be happy with the results. :)
@@hilltoprccrawlers1979 Thanks for the confirmation. That's what I expected. I know that it's really wide. I plan to cut in half which means that I can get foams for 4 tires. Great deal.
Exelent tune axi24, great work my friend!)🤩💥💯👍👏
Thanks ✌️. Greatly appreciate the comment.
I would like to hear about the angle on the shocks. We have been "playing" on lunch at work and the jeeps are killing me in speed and climbing. The tires everyone has are stock, but the Cherokee seems to have a slightly larger tire. And I mean very slightly. Maybe 1/16 of an inch. My c10 just like yours but no mods yet. I enjoy your videos! Please keep it up!
Hmm the bigger tire size will make a bit of difference, but they shouldn't be able to kill you in speed and climbing. C10 has much better center of gravity, so it's very intriguing. As for leaning the shocks inward does three things:
1. It makes the spring a softer rate
2. You gain more wheel travel with the same amount of shock travel
3. It lowers overall ride height of the chassis.
@@BigSungHobbies I seem to be able to climb better. Actually I can climb a more aggressive angle. I am also interested in those tires your running!
My recommendation would be Pro-Line Hyrax 1.0" right now. If you do decide to go with RC4WD, give either Patagonia or Rock Creeper a try.
Awesome RC and great upgrades
Thanks 👍
Well done, you get a 🏆 of excellence
Thank you very much!
got a deadbolt for my birthday and I been looking for some wheels and tires
Deadbolt can use a bit bigger tires than C10 version. I really like Proline Hyrax on my C10, but it will be too small for Deadbolt.
I like it, it's pretty much how I do it 👍
Thanks. I love your paint jobs by the way!
Hi Big Sung can you please make a video on why you have set your shocks up this way I have a C10 and I would really like to know why you set up your shocks like this. I have ordered some rock creepers and have done most of the mods you explained in this video. Thanks a lot for making this it has really helped.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will think over it. At a high level, I have done it this way since I come from 1/10 scale world. We mount the shocks upside down to help with lowering CG. The benefit might not seem much, but every bit adds to the overall effect. So I automatically applied that to SCX24. But then the saving is so miniscule due to overall weight. But I found that there is a side benefit. Having the body at bottom helps with keeping the heavy grease/green slime. The leakeage happens as the shock rod where the shock compress and extends. By having that point up, it really helps to keep them in. Those are the positive effect, and there is no downside, so I would recommend this mod. Hope that helps to explain the reason.
Very good!😁
Thank you! Cheers!
“60” is not a threshold, rather it’s just another point, here. Don’t overthink it.
I agree. I look at it as a starting point to fine tune.
Any input/ opinions on the Treal high clearance 4 link for C10? I’m considering high clearance next but am stuck at what the best material would be (aluminum vs 3D printed vs brass etc.) and if I should go ahead and do an aluminum or brass skid while under there. As far as metal drive shafts I plan to pursue that later on.
I don't have personal experience with HC links from Treal; however, their products have been very solid and I don't think you will go wrong with them. That being said, I have been using custom high clearance links from @rcsteve710. Although it's a bit costly, I have been very happy with the quality. The nice thing about it is that you can get it custom, and I would go with brass front and aluminum rear. As for skid, I don't see a reason to change out from plastic. Plastic slides better than aluminum and/or brass. Hope that helps.
Do the Rc4wd tires fit on the stock wheels good? Thanks for the content!
That I don’t know. I changed both the tires and wheels. I didn’t want to deal with ungluing the tires from the wheels.
I see this is the green c10. Can these upgrades be for the silver one too?
Of course. They are the same under the body. Enjoy the modding it.
@@BigSungHobbies thanks. Just bought the silver one last week. My first crawler
Great way to start! Welcome to the hobby!
Where did you get the bungee cord ?!!
DSM Off-road sells them.
I think ill keep mine stock
Nothing wrong with keeping it stock. But there are free mods that will make it perform much better if that is what you are looking for.
Where can I get one of those bungee cords??
DSM Off-road sells them. Great product.
Do you have links to the 3D printed parts you use?
Unfortunately I do not have a link to the high clearance links, but the LCG battery is from thingiverse. Just type scx24 and you will see it.
@zachary That file is for Deadbolt. It needs to be modified to be used for C10 and Jeep version.
where did you get the replacement curved links?
A friend of mine 3d printed for me.
How tall are the stock tires?
C10 has smaller tires than say Deadbolt, probably measures just a bit shy of 2 inches tall.
Where did you get the green bungee

Would you be willing to sell your rc4wd wheels when you get the printed ones
Unfortunately, I already have someone that is interested in my local club.
@@BigSungHobbies yea no problem there a hot item right now
I’d stay away from the stamped steel rims they are cheap for a reason hard to install and they don’t keep a bead
@@ptshyu2 Using the paper clip method it's pretty easy to install, and I have had no issues holding a bead with RC4WD Rock Creeper tires. But I have heard that on some tires, it's very difficult to mount and keep the bead. The quality is a bit suspect though as one rim came with 2 screws that are loose, while the rest 3 rims were perfect. Blue locktite kept them in place for several months though. My biggest thing was the overall rotational weight, thus going with another option.
@@BigSungHobbies I have two or three other sets those wheels just never get used constantly losing beads on my Baja claws
My stock motor only lasted a week
Mine is still going strong. How much does yours weigh? Any wheel weights?
No weights just stock i used it like 2 to 3 times thru out the day on that week it stopped working, it suddenly came to a stop
That's too bad. It seems like they are not very consistent.
@@fredo7482 maybe something is binding or too tight .?. just something to maybe check...
@@MrMrsregor Definitely don't over tighten the wheel nuts. That will be an easy way to kill the motor real quick.
Yo shocks suck. Get the telescopic ones you'll buzz
Kinetic Double Barrel really only works with external limiter. Flex isn’t everything for my style of driving. So far stock shocks modified with preload and dampening is working out well enough plus it’s free.
My scx24 is 320 grams
Love to hear what upgrades you have added to it. Stock C10 is 230g, so you have added 90g to it. Are you still running stock motor or have you upgraded?
All Electronics are stock ill upload a vid for u
Vid is posted
@@fatjoecanadian81 Thanks for the video of the Deadbolt. Looks like a lot of the weight is coming from the wheel weights.
@@BigSungHobbies i have upgrades coming and im making the front longer and 4 link
