      Yeah I'm trying with him - It's more so I have the data to prove McLaren's 2019 wasn't what it seemed. if given the car, I do think Ricciardo could be super quick. But I don't think it's there just yet. regardless, a creeping midfield puts significantly more pressure on lewis. think of the undercuts now ricciardo can play with. He'll be a lot closer and within his windows significantly more. i'm stoked to see Ricciardo force Merc's pit wall fumble a bit. I like ricciardo when he has nothing to lose aka 2014. he will make mistakes, but his good moments will be BRILLIANT

      I think of Ricciardo as a very fast driver and one that’s significantly better than Bottas but I don’t see Ricciardo putting any pressure on Lewis unless the McLaren will dramatically improve. That will be difficult because even if the Merc power unit has more umpf, they will have to adjust their chassis to the changed geometry and with a limited budget I don’t see how they could (in less than one year) come close to Mercedes that has been developing their car for 7 years with a huge budget.
      I think the competition for the world champ will come from Max, Leclerc and maybe Bottas 3.0;)

      First of all, thanks for the content you produce. My dad's been into F1 his whole life so I showed him your channel and he's astounded at the quality of your content. Keep it up!
      Anyways, you say that it SHOULD be a 1 2 driver dynamic. Are you speaking as Ferrari, since Ferrari historically has been very comfortable enforcing a 1 2 dynamic? Or are you saying that it is inevitable for any championship contending team to opt for this dynamic?
      It makes sense, of course. For example, Mercedes/Daimler AG has no reason to recruit Vettel alongside Hamilton. Don't fix what isn't broken, right? They have the best car, a champion driver, and a reliable #2. The only benefit of adding Vettel instead of Bottas is the insane racing and drama it would stir, which would mostly be for the viewers.
      Likewise, throwing Ricciardo in a Ferrari alongside Leclerc would be entertaining and competitive, but not in Ferrari's best interests. If exciting racing was the priority, there SHOULD NOT be a 1 2 dynamic, but given the best interests of the teams, I can begrudgingly accept things to be the way they are.

    Giovannazi? Really? Right now, he's merely keeping the Ferrari seat for future Ferrari academy driver over in Alfa Romeo. Carlos Sainz is a proven driver for Ferrari's purpose.

    • @CYMotorsport
      @CYMotorsport  Před 4 lety +29

      if you think about it, isn't that what Ferrari are looking for? Depends on the purpose you reference. respectfully, notice how you had to use the word "driver" there. I can tell normally you'd say "race winner". That's my point. if neither will win races consistently, get the one that will surely do your bidding. My entire position rests with the marginal gap from gio to carlos is insignificant. You'll be very correct and I'll be proven very wrong if it turns out he improves significantly. But i'm interested to see what you think of my next video about Carlos's 2019 season. I'll show the math to prove how it's a clear average performance at best just by the data. Either way, good insight and appreciate these chats!

      I see it as a future issue, I think Sainz is too ambitious to be a 2nd driver in that seat, unless he gets wiped off the floor by leclerc on pace they are going to have issues, it would of been even worse with ricciardo but if they had choose Gio it would of been really easy to manage the big issue would be if he is too slow.

      But why do you want a cheat back? :) no teams want him, and since he left he has been in charge of his own PR like a child. Sorry. But i sincerely hope to see Alonso stay away. But to see a 4 time world champion being a meme and maybe leaving the sport is injustice. This great CZcams has himself explained how Ferrari fucked him up; and especially in 2019. But will we see him in a Mercedes? I don’t think Hamilton wants that challenge. No matter what you think of vettel he is ultimately better than Alonso, better than Rosberg and Bottas so to see him possible leave is a big disgrace to the sport. Imagine if Hamilton was paired with Leclerc or Verstappen and got beaten with no support line and Mercedes dropping him out for Sainz. Where do you go? You might as well just leave. Nobody really wants that. I really want to see the super team at Mercedes and for me Alonso should stick with Indy

    I personally think that Ferrari are the winners here.
    1) They have a solid driver lineup with 2 amazing talents without breaking the bank which is what every team needs in the current financial situation of the world.
    2) Sainz jr is young yet he has started more than a hundred races and they say that he is very good with feedback which would help them develop a good car.
    3) Leclerc is a definite future world champion, if Ferrari's management team get their crap together, they can win the double championship this decade.

    • @alistairwhite8575
      @alistairwhite8575 Před 4 lety

      I do agree that they have a solid lineup, however, right now they are really lacking a few spots
      1. management, binoto taking on a double role was not a good move and has set the team back a lot
      2. strategy, so far their strategy has been less than ideal, BUT I don't think its as bad as some make it out to be
      3. and they are also being incredibly pressured by red bull and maybe Mclaren, but I'm not so sure that McLaren is a big deal for them right now, just that they are pretty consistent and have had a lot of improvement in the last season.

    As a long-time Ferrari fan, I would have rather had Ricciardo at Ferrari than Sainz. Sainz did impress me over the years, and this may be a good move long-term for both parties, but short-term, I would have rather had Ricciardo. Somebody needs to develop the car.
    As for Renault, I'm a fan of Hulkenberg. It's a pity he left F1 when crash-out Grosjean and sourpuss Magnussen still on the grib.

    • @CYMotorsport
      @CYMotorsport  Před 4 lety +8

      Bingo! It should be about the car. Merc made absurd progress that really helped kickstart their dominance in the hybrid era by letting two world class drivers Go to war and push the car ‘14-‘16. So much so that Lewis carried the team alone while valtteri didn’t win a single race in 2018. There’s merit to stacking the team. I fear Ferrari just reverted lulling themselves back to sleep choosing safety as was done with Kimi. Meanwhile you have an insatiable beast at the wheel In Leclerc. If they want to dampen the spirit of top talent as was done with Seb, they’ve perfected the roadmap. While Leclerc will look like a rockstar, I fear for how he develops now frankly.

    • @alesksander
      @alesksander Před 4 lety

      @@CYMotorsport Drivers dont develop cars anymore. Ferrari need stable team and just learn better engineering. Binotto know that. So decision was simple really. Ricciardo would be disaster for "rookie" team principal. He would be crazy if he dint prioritise the team spirit at first place. Maybe LEC will become next VET and drop ball with subpar Sainz. Maybe. But im not so sure. Because LEC is too harsh to himself so yeah i think that will never happen. Even more i think Sainz will suck in qually. But with top 2 teams worse than 3-6 he shouldn't be. So yeah he will turn heads in races i m sure. He will make nice head scratching for Merc, Rb strategiest. I never saw better option than Sainz in Ferrari really.

    As you said, Red Bull is a customer team.
    McLaren has 8 constructors championships. All as a customer team.
    It's about specifics. It's not one size fits all.
    You're racing, imagine, in Indy Car, and you go from Genassi, to a manufacturer......but that amazing new manufacturer is Trabant.....but then you move to Penske.
    Is that a net loss?
    He hoped Renault would be a works team competitor, it was going to nail it, and be battling in among Ferrari and Mercedes Benz. They weren't.
    It was like hopping to a works team in classic era Endurance racing, looking to be running along side Jaguars or Ferraris, and then coming to a realisation that yeah, it's a work team....but not all works teams are created equal, and you're in Skoda's.
    In this way, McLaren is a magnificent choice, and it is a net win, absolutely, for Ricciardo.
    He got to choose a trial at a Works team, and nevertheless STILL got a second chance, was actively hunted in fact, by an esteemed and storied championship winning team.
    But that should just tell you about how good the people who know, know Ricciardo is.
    As for Sainz, you're so good at this. Dead on. Sainz is NOT a #2, and he's not going to bend over to be one. He'll not be their man long if they don't get their expectations in alignment.
    More, I sadly think you're right, or possibly be, Sainz, is going to need someone to take a risk on him as an equal, or lead driver, or he'll end up a top tier journeyman, better than say Hulkenberg, who's always been overrated (just look at his career), but never given the opportunity his potential deserved.
    Seb? I'm romantically aching for him to replace Bottas, for Bottas to stay, even in Renault, but Seb v Hamilton.
    Yet I'm almost certain he won't take a demotion seat like Raikonnen just to stay in the game.
    I think Renault will be out of F1 fairly shortly.

      @@jaysss6636 A real Lotus Works team, not just a leased naming rights scenario, with good financial backing and their very best designers and engineers would be good.
      But Renault just using another naming agreement to make cars running under the Lotus name in Lotus livery?
      That'd just be more bad cars due to more bad culture.
      I think Cyril needs to go, for sure, but I think more do too, they need to reset. The company needs to assign an even bigger budget whilst they can, before caps, and not just spend it on the cars, development and engineering, but on headhunting globally for the very best staff within the team for all major positions in the programe.
      Then they'll see results.
      But they won't do that. So they'll be gone after one season of the new regulations. They'll give it a season, to see if it plays to their existing strengths, and if it doesn't, I suspect they'll leave rather than developing said strengths to suit the new regulations.

      With McLaren, their drivers and constrictors titles in '74 and '76 were as a customer team, but that was because pretty much everyone was using the Cosworth DFV. Their titles with TAG (Porsche), Honda and Mercedes were all effectively works partnerships i.e. they were the main focus of that particular supplier. Indeed, Mercedes had shares in McLaren until 2009. It was the same with Red Bull in their run of titles: they were Renault's main focus.

    Great vid! I agree with what CY says here.
    Regarding the moving and shaking, I am getting the word here in Europe that:
    1. Seb is looking at Mercedes and Aston Martin (currently Racing Point Team which will rebrand again starting in 2021) and trying to "make something happen" since both those teams have full seats.
    The Aston Martin move will only happen if he can take Toto Wolff from Mercedes and go there together. This is considered as the main option for him because of his very good relationship with Wolff and also Toto's investment into Aston Martin and minority ownership role.
    Also for this to happen, Sergio Perez who has a long time contract with Racing Point (soon to become Aston Martin) needs to have his contract bought out by ... somebody. Team owner Lawrence Stroll won't give the boot to his son Lance to make room for anybody.
    Probability for this, I'd say 25%.
    The Mercedes move is the least likely one. Basically it would require Lewis Hamilton to be OK with Seb and the team to really want to get rid of Bottas and also for Seb to accept a second driver role and salary. And also for Mercedes to forget about George Russell in order to be starstruck by the shining ... Vettel. Yeah!
    Probability for this is around 10%.
    Vettel wants to keep racing, last week he started participating in online simulator races with other former F1 drivers after having had built his own professional sim racing rig at home. Could this be him having a mid-life crisis and getting tired of hanging out with the wife and children all day in their mansion's back yard? Maybe.
    Probability for him just retiring after 2020 is about 65%.
    2. The Ferrari situation.
    I believe that the long term goal is to have Charles Leclerc's brother, Arthur in the second car before Charlie's current contract ends after 2024. This is what I'm getting from what I see going on in the online racing communities and from things Leclerc has said about his opinion in the Ferrari transfer policies.
    Pretty much, his brother is always the Ferrari online racing team driver along side himself. Arthur's racing career can be checked out on the internet but he could get the points for his super-license in 2-3 years time. And Leclerc has said that at the moment Ferrari "don't ask him about his opinion (on whom to hire as team mate) because if they did, they would have to do as his says and they are not there yet". Can this be Charlie just thinking in French and speaking out in English? Maybe.
    This is all speculation but it's where I feel things are heading toward.
    If Charles will be world champion by the end of 2024, in my opinion he will negociate a possible extension with the condition that his brother is his team mate.
    Back to the present, I was expecting for Giovinazzi to get the seat and even hoping for a Raikkonen 1 year (re)return. But they had to strike the proverbial iron while it was hot and they've picked Carlos.
    3. Renault are in big trouble. And they don't have the car to attract Alonso, nor the money to pay him. And on top of that none of their youth academy drivers are currently ready to jump in the F1 car. I could see them looking at a pay driver for 2021, alongside Ocon.

    I really like how well thought-out your opinions are, and how you don't say what will get views but what are your honest opinions.
    Only improvement would be to not worry about that second camera angle, but I mean that is the smallesr gripe.

    Great takes on the transfers... I was thinking Giovanazzi was the logical choice as well as it seemed that most top drivers wouldn't want to step into a number 2 role, where as Gio gets a big car upgrade and a chance to prove his skill + Ferrari Academy like you mentioned.
    I also loved this style of video, but one criticism would be that I don't think you need all of the fancy transitions and camera angles. Your content is so good and I think to save yourself some editing time you can simplify and no one would bat an eye.
    Great vid, I stumbled upon your channel a few weeks ago and have been bingeing it as new-ish F1 fan trying to learn as much as possible! Looking forward to more!

    I believe that Carlos is the best pick. Giovinazzi in my opinion is a terrible pick. He is older than Carlos, he has show some promise toward the end of the season, but you cannot go off half a season. He needs another year or two to even be in question. Carlos is better than Gio in almost everyway.
    Daniel would not be much better for the reason that you stated in your video. He would not settle for being a number two. He would cause problems and would request a large salary. I
    I can't think of anyone else who would be a good pick. Maybe Lando, Russel, or Perez, but they all seem locked down with Lando being commited to the McLaren plan, Russel trying to go to Mercades, and Perez signing a 6 year extension I think it was.

    • @CYMotorsport
      @CYMotorsport  Před 4 lety

      Respect that - makes sense to me. Gio is a risk, you're right it was only half a season turn around. but Carlos isn't going to lay over either. He's a nice guy I'm sure but He's not weak. Perez would have been very interesting for Ferrari but I doubt they'd go for it. they had the shot but yeah good call - I'd love to see checo there

    The two camera setup works if you use them for cuts. If you mess up just turn to the other camera and continue, makes the video smooth by eliminating harsh jump cuts. It's easier to edit as well since you can cue off eye contact in the camera. I would consider removing or making the lights behind you static to aid in making whichever cuts you choose more seamless and less jarring.
    You're doing great work and I really enjoy listening to your very well educated opinions.

    Great video Nick!!! Some things I would change:
    Your graphs need to make more sense, like I don't know the driver's helmets. You should talk about what's written on screen and explain what's happening more thoroughly, everyone likes detail, but especially if you talk about it.
    You could read the statements/quotes you put on screen, it's hard to hear you and read at the same time.
    If you fix this, your videos will be gold! Looking forward to collabs with tommo and Aldas!

    Instinctively, the move that seems like the right fit is Riccardo to McLaren. His personality should gel really well with them, on paper it looks like a great move and a massive coup from McLaren.
    Sainz going to Ferrari is really interesting. Arguably, Vettel just hasn't been himself so this is a great opportunity for Sainz and us to see what he's got, and to put Le Clerk under a bit of pressure. He was the underdog with Vettel but a different ball game with Sainz. The wait of expectation from Ferrari can be intense.

Basically, he said that having a driver who is going to be somewhere else next year will influence the relationship in a negative way. I still don't see why everyone considers being a works team as an irrefutable advantage over being a customer team, particularly in the case of Renault. Not only have they lost all their customers, they haven't made much progress since their return, they went backwards last year and their customer teams beat them. The usual advantages of being a works team seem meaningless when it comes to Renault. Cyril brags about having lots of money and snagging Daniel from Red Bull and McLaren but what did that accomplish? I genuinely think Daniel won here and got off the ship before it struck an iceberg.

    Excellent Episode... as always .. however I'd like to start with a few facts .. just comparing numbers although i must say that a direct comparison is somewhat unfair if u take into account the various cars and performances of those teams relative to the years one drove for them .. however
    C. Leclerc - F1 debut 2018 - Total points 303
    C. Sainz - F1 debut 2015 - Total points 267
    D. Riccardo - F1 debut 2011 - Total points 1040
    M. Verstappen - F1 debut 2015 - Total points 948
    A. Giovanazzi - debut 2018 - Total points 24
    So IMO I think the next drivers ready at this time to go head to head with Hamilton as WDC contenders remain Verstappen and Leclerc. I don't disagree with your review of Danny Riccardo .. but unfortunately I see many great drives coming out of Danny Ric ... but the clock is ticking and unless he gets behind the wheel of a superlative car .. at this point I don;t see a WDC title for him in the future... so putting him in a competitive car at this moment (read Ferrari) against a young wild unbroken stallion like Leclerc would be disastrous at Ferrari .. The choice of Sainz IMO is a good one ... he is talented, composed as well as having a good disposition .. .the kind Ferrari likes its drivers to portray ;-) as well he is consistent , fast and has a good work ethic. I understand your choice of Giovanazzi ... I get it ... I'd like that too .. however ... I don;t think hes ready yet.
    What I find refreshing is that there seems to be a new wind blowing at Ferrari ... they are breaking away from hiring seasoned veterans and going with young drivers ... perhaps a commitment they made a while ago when they created the FDA including their cooperation with Prema Racing (or Ferrari Junior Team as I like ot call them ...lol) .. seems in a way Ferrari is creating their own star system
    In conclusion its unfortunate Vettle has been such a disaster for Ferrari ... I have to admit .. Ferrari has their share of the blame however 2018 and 2019 .. Vettel's meltdown of 2018 and consistent whining of 2019 did not help matters much .. in actual fact if I had been calling the shots his present contract extension never would have happened. For as much as I can remember I don;t recall once him saying that the car was 100% to his liking ... and strangely a young kid like Leclerc seems to be able to extract better performances out of that car tha a 4 time WC. On the bright side Vettle leaves a better Ferrari team behind him .. with a new leader and vision more in tune with today's F1 ... in actual fact the present F1 team amnagement structure was something that was greatly influenced by Vettel ... The appointment of Binotto and firing of Arrivabene was pretty much all Vettel doing ...given the fact that irreconcilable technical differences were the cause of the problems.. as a result Binotto takes over ... gives Vetttel technically everything he wants... rings the dinner bell but never shows up at the table, rather Leclerc ends up eating his ration ;-)
    Sorry for the long message .. but keep up the good work ... looking fwd to future episodes :-)

    Love this kind of content (as well as all your other vids!). As a die-hard Ferrari fan since my first watched race back in '02 i feel kinda ambivalent about the whole trade situation. I really like Seb, but in the end he did just not fit into the team the last two seasons (in my opinion obviously). As a short-term fix Ricciardo would have been awesome because he's such a likeable and joyeous guy, but i agree with the possible issue with two alphas running side by side. I think Sainz is a smart decision, and hopefully he'll be able to run the same dynamics with Leclerc as Michael and Rubens had back in the day with MS leading the way and Rubens (who is one of my favorite drivers ever in F1) ready to step in, in case of issues with MS losing position. Excited to see what he'll be able to do in the Ferrari seat. I was sceptical when Leclerc got the seat, but boy did he excell beyond my expectations!

    I’m kinda hoping a Mercedes seat opens up for Russell. I don’t think it will but there’s a lot of potential there with him and it’s be exciting to see him go from a back marker to the front of the grid.

    when mika won his championships, mclaren were not a customer team. they were the mercedes works team. just thought i should correct you on that. and a lot of speculation is that merc may quit and mclaren become their works team again like in the 90s and 2000's. I personally dont think merc are going anywhere, but anything could happen, especially in this strange times. that would make ricciardos move even better

      @Toro Loco Mercedes were never planning on quitting but they wanted to reduce their f1 expenditure. Hence the arrival of ineos. Toto runs a very tight ship, so it wasn't a problem.

    So far my silly season predictions for 2021 for the remaining lineups (various sources say Aston Martin are to retain Perez and Stroll) are as follows:
    Mercedes - Lewis Hamilton and George Russell
    Red Bull - Max Verstappen and Alex Albon/Pierre Gasly
    Renault - Esteban Ocon and Guanyu Zhou
    AlphaTauri - Pierre Gasly/Jehan Daruvala and Juri Vips
    Haas - Antonio Giovinazzi and Kevin Magnussen
    Alfa Romeo - Mick Schumacher and Robert Shwartzman/Marcus Armstrong/Callum Ilott
    Williams - Jack Aitken/Dan Ticktum and Nicholas Latifi
    Regarding the Renault seat, I think the Alonso talk is a load of wishful thinking and that the French outfit will promote either Christian Lundgaard or Guanyu Zhou depending who finishes higher in F2 this year (though the latter has an advantage of a year's experience under his belt and Chinese sponsorship money). Same story with Williams choosing either Aitken or Ticktum if Russell goes to Mercedes and Alfa Romeo as to which of the Ferrari juniors racing in F2 this year get drives at Alfa Romeo (or Haas if Magnussen departs for something like Indy, are still on the grid and/or using Ferrari power). Mick Schumacher's likely due to name recognition but I think Callum Ilott, Robert Shwartzman and Marcus Armstrong will be strong candidates (plus Armstrong, like Schumacher, is managed by Nicolas Todt).

    I somewhat agree with you on preferring Giovinazzi to Sainz in the case that it would benefit Leclerc the best, since the
    hierarchy would be much more distinct. But I also think that if we had Giovinazzi next to Leclerc, it might have been a lot like the first half of the past season with Gasly next to Verstappen. I haven't seen that much potential from Giovinazzi that I would confidently put him in a race winning car, and I'm afraid that if he was to be given a seat at Ferrari he would have driven around the midfield far away to do Leclerc any good. - But hey, In the end Sainz is the new Ferrari driver and we are all looking forward to see him in action!

    • @CYMotorsport
      @CYMotorsport  Před 4 lety

      totally agree. What I didn't cover is the downside protection. to your point, in this scenario they both fall a little short. but they don't recover the same. I see Carlos atleast surviving. Though, I truly think Leclerc is exponentially improving haha anyone would be doomed there. Gio might fully collapse. which would only exacerbate the problem - good point!

    My concern is hypothetically if McLaren match Mercedes pace will they allow McLaren to beat them. As for the rest I think you’re spot on can’t agree more with what you said. Renault as a company has lost a lot of money recently. I believe they will exit F1 sooner rather then later.

      @CYMotorsport  Před 4 lety +2

      yep. this is spot on. it's similar to the credit crunch of 09. people are acting like this stuff is business as usual. but that's why alonso makes sense to me. They have to do something big. their global responsibilities are too big for a soft move.

    Great video as always. The new graphics are fire ( no puppy though ;)). My final thoughts on Gio is that he is too under qualified Charles would trash him so bad that the scuderia would have to go look for another driver, the pressure would be too great.

    • @CYMotorsport
      @CYMotorsport  Před 4 lety +1

      I’m with you there! I think Carlos is going to get beaten badly but I don’t think he’ll spiral. I’m not confident gio won’t. Kimi wrecked him in the front half and he recovered well but that’s not the same as being expected to win. Either way, it’s a shit seat to be honest. I wouldn’t want it but it’s not like Carlos CANT take it. From that perspective , I kinda feel bad bc he’s kind of in a lose lose

      @Susannah21 Před 4 lety

    McLaren in late 1990s might not have been manufacturer team, but they WERE at the forefront of Merc's F1 efforts at the time as there wasn't a Silver Arrows factory team back then. McLaren-Merc of 2021 up against the factory team? Tricky.....

    I’d say the time window for Danny Ric to get a championship is about 1-3 years counting from now. He’s stuck in the weird time frame where he got his big break at the start of V6 turbo era, which causes him to be stuck between the youngling drivers such as Verstappen, Leclerc, Sainz and Gasly, and the slightly older drivers, such as Grosjean and Hamilton. Championships prospects aren’t looking quite good in my opinion, maybe he’ll get runner up at most. Mercedes domination won’t stop, they’ve discovered the winning formula and constantly innovate at the same time.

This was also a great analysis for the current F1 situation, could you make a video to expand on the future of Mercedes. Will Lewis stay, will George put on his big boy pants and move up or will they have a different strategy for their future. Keep up the outstanding quality of videos.

      Thanks nick. Yeah I really should do it. At first I was unsure what Merc would do but I would bet they wanna wait to go racing. Valtteri has been so hot and cold. It would make sense to wait. So a video breaking down what may come next is in order . Thanks for the suggestion! Between videos I’m usually 110% busy on a big project like the one I’m on now but I’ll be ready to post that soon. Then I’ll can take another look at that.

    I agree about sainz, I've never seen him as an outstanding driver limited by car. But what do I know. We'll see how he does in a top car but I'm half expecting the perfomance of Kimi (love kimi) can keep it in the top 5-6, but not challenging for wins every race.

  • @Narmatonia
    @Narmatonia Před 4 lety +1

    If Ferrari went for Ricciardo, they would have two no. 1 drivers, they saw last year with Leclerc-Vettel that this wasn’t great, their competitiveness hurt the team overall. If they went for Giovinazzi, they would have clear no.1-no.2 drivers, but looking at Verstappen-Gasly this isn’t great either, Gasly wasn’t there to be a wingman. But with Sainz it’s like a no.1-no.1.5 situation, Sainz may not be good enough to be consistently troubling Leclerc, but he is good enough to pick up the pieces if Leclerc has issues. IMO this is the best pairing, Hamilton-Bottas is a prime example of such a dynamic.

    • @CYMotorsport
      @CYMotorsport  Před 4 lety +1

      YES that is the exact calculation I agree with. But remember how that went for Ferrari in 2018/2017? Means you’ll NEVER beat Merc. I think you just perfectly phrased it, better than I did. That strategy only works if you’re car is by far. Otherwise, you’re building a team that loses AND limits the #1 driver’s points to a degree still.
