HOLY F- one piece of bark cost you 7 euros!? IO got like... a forest of it behind me rn. I am gonna be RICH!
I came to this channel for the painting, I stayed for the comedyâŠ.and the painting.
I find basing so relaxing, it's like miniature Zen gardening.
Just looked up "Rimming". I found so much helpful tips. Thank you very much!
WHAT
Oh don't do that
Yes, tonnes of great and fun ideas there!
My love life just got 100% spicier. Happy wife, happy life, as they say. :)
I'll look that up on my work computer later.
Thank you đđđđ
Searching Rimming made my life better.
Follwing the true path of all youtube mini painters, Zumi has entered the basing and scenery arc.
First seconds put me like: hold on... Is he HOWTOBASIC?!
man, I should've added more eggs...damn
Okay. Zumiko, I have a suggestion for you.
Dry brush texture and rocks. Trust me. You'll see and learn different ways to make an amazing texture and blend for a really weathered base.
You almost have this to a 't'.
Thank you, Simon! Thanks to your tips on rimming I have found a whole new stream of the hobby that I wasnât aware it even existed!
I totally loved your ironic/sarcastic tone. But still, the results are interesting
hands down the funniest painting tutorials on youtube :D
Sooooooo, the wife and I watch Zumi's videos together, he's funny and we get a good laugh, she is a little sheltered so she goes " I'll look up rimming". Yeah that didn't go down to well LAWL
This channel has quickly turned into my favorite miniature painting channel, I love the content recently, congrats on the editing as well, top notch work !
The water base turned out very nice, dude! If you are using Vallejo Texture then you don't actually need to use glue to hold stuff like bark to the base, just use the texture, stuff sets up like concrete! Good Video, it gets the đ!
I TRUSTED YOU! I GOOGLED RIMMING LIKE AN INNOCENT CHILD HOPING TO IMPROVE MY MINIATURES!!!... and now I will never be the same again.
Maybe you should try googling "Water Sports", something about playing volley ball while swimming really helps a person concentrate on painting.
took your advice about Base Painting..... Typed in Rimming... was a bit disapointed to be honest... not a paint brush in sight! đ€Łđ€Ł
Nice work on the bases, desert one is my favourite.
Now to Google search rimming đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
I was listening to this video in the car, and when you mentioned rimming, the girl in the passenger seat of the car next to me immediately cocked her head and looked over with wide eyes!
Golden Demon 2022 pushed you to focus on improving basing skills on a level it looks almost like a fixation!
lol use a hobby saw for thick styrene. goes through like a hot knife through butter
Spit coffee all over my phone screen at the 2:35 mark. Gd Zumi I love your videos
One thing I've found useful when doing rocks is to use different varnish types. So matt for the upper surfaces (that are dry) and then satin on the areas that might be damp. Allows a consistent colour, but also a bit more realism.
I subscribed because of our shared passion for rimming.
Oh my WORD! That slenderman base turned out incredible! All your bases look great though!
The Zumikito Bases Villian Arc is on going I see ;)
Really fun video Simon, and those turned out really nice! Love the desert one in particular
The slender man base is amazing I canât lie
If you go to the dollar store (chinese market here in Spain) you can find a lot of useful stuff for the hobby in general, stones of different sizes and sand for aquarium, handcraft material and lot more but a lot cheaper then the Vallejo/GSW/AK... versions
Fantastic video on basing. Thank you for making the painting video fun and educating. I like the last one the most. It seems to tell a story of the slender man as intended.
Good grief, I'm already getting anxiety attacks from giving my finished painted board game miniatures decorated bases. Handling paint or glue on painted display case pieces would kill me!
Basing is one of my favorite parts of the hobby. It's really hard to mess up and it feels great looking at the finished product.
I had anxiety at 10:44 when the cap pressed against the arm and it bent!
Awesome to see the aka terrain stuff I use on my bases on video by someone I follow on CZcams.
I work to get a fade to black from the character for the base.
Have a seperate hobby knife blade you can heat up w/ a lighter or something to cut through that plastic rod kinda stuff.
or a little hobby saw
Space marine is poorly attached and sister looked better before in my opinion. Having said that you nailed slender man!
Loved the video and with you showing off a heap of different hobby products. Just a thought but could simpler be better for basing sometimes? Like the slender man base had this oily dark swamp already from the first 2 stages of painting it and if left at this stage it looked amazing. Or the building site base the rusted cog and bricks are already finished out of the pack so half the job is done. Some pigment to tie them in and bobs your uncle. Anyways love your channel and merry Christmas
Dental & sculpting tools, work like a spatula but are smaller and have finer points. Perfect for spreading texture paste.
Love seeing video's on basing (and diorama building)!
Well done my friend. Great video.
I loved your tip on the rim, was really satisfying!
For water on the bases, you can also cut holes in the base and then make a damn underneath with plasticard and green stuff. Allows you to have more depth to run water effects into to create puddles etc.
I love all of your videos Zumikito, you have taught me so much. Thank you đ
Very nice. I like all of the bases. I can't wait to see more as I need more help with my bases.
Much love
Dude!!! Legit!!! Some of the finest basing I have seen!! Great job!!
Thanks for the Tips and tricks mate!
Great job man! I really liked the water base the most but two other ones are quite unique as well)
Great video as always!
Awesome!!
Looking forward for more basing videos!
I love basing. I use budget items though like toilet paper, sand, coffee, anything I can get at the dollar store.
need to get my hands on this stuff...
Amazing vid as always my dude!
I really need to play more with my pigments... i havent give them a lot of time to them. Now is the time!
the Almighty Spatula, nice reference đ€Ł
Great work! Water base and Space marine was the best ones imho. (-:
Do love the AK products and the Still Water one is so easy to use.
(Tip. Don't ever use to thick a layer with SW, because it will create a hole in the water. (-: Which i guess could be nice, if you're looking for a whirlpool, but....)
Squidmar styling on the desert bases coming in clutch. I have found 3d printing bits and toppers helps alot with getting you half way there. You can then use miliput to stick on your resin pits and texture paint on top after you smooth it out. Helps with giving volume so you dont have the "super flat terrain" effect.
For me the resin bits from epic basing were what really helped my bases look a lot better. Didn't have bits that were out of scale like when I was trying to just find scrap stuff. Pairing the bits with some ak texture pastes, milliput and cork makes really nice bases.
This is awesome. My minis are def going to level up nowâŠâŠor at least they would if I hadnât had discovered rimming now.
Ice ice baby...to cold to cold....đ
Thanks for showing the mistakes and how you decide to fix them - that's what makes the difference and what aspiring painters can connect with.
The tip with re-applying the pigment is what I missed! I always had this issue that when it got wet, it never got back its freshness and vividity. I was wondering how the others achieve it, especially for tabletop pieces which need to last.
Instead basing is the easiest easy to make your mins look much better.
messy base on the sister is perfectly fine seeing as... its a bunch of ruins. they dont tend to be neat!
But your original Krieg base look beatiful also! i like it a lot. Sometimes I use Isopropanol to fix pigment, spread fast and dry fast too.
I love how exasperated you look at your own shortcomings
For like the beam you could get a razor saw. Really cheap, very effective.
Awesome looking bases! Are you please able to link or list the product details/brand on the bricks, scraps, rubble and the construction beams?
It is from online store "pk-pro"
@@Zumikito thanks!!!
just got my 6 year old daughter to google 'rimming' while i do the pigment! thanks for the guides :)
I googled rimming like you said and it took me to artis opus đ
Excellent video, where did you get the bits from for the the urban base, for sisters of battle?
The ultimate product review!
For beginners and novices in basing (like myself) I recommend getting a tub of AK Interactive texture paste of your choice (or similar) and a packet of tufts to compliment it and maybe a packet of flowers. That will go a long way in making the bases look way more interesting than they have any right to be with just texture paste and tuft and itâs an easy way to learn basing :)
And itâs cheaper than getting Citadel stuff :D
I recently got back into the hobby after being away for 26 years. In the last 6 months I've probably spent close to $3000 procuring everything I needed. It is a costly hobby. I'm starting my own channel. Partly to justify my expenditure and also to keep me motivated.
evergreen scale models make easy cutting I beams and a bunch of other things like that
Only model painters will use stones, prime them and then repaint them to look like stones.
The sister base came out perfect, how can you have too messy on a battle field? A battlefield should be as messy as you can make it.
Great video. Maybe it would have been worth mentioning how much texture paint or pigment is actually in such a jar, and while the cost compared to one base might seem high, but the stuff will last for like hundreds of bases easily.
Nice rim job
The closest thing googling "rimming" led me to for art was paint sticks, I thought only children used those. O.o
Welcome to terrain =)
Funny! the base for the battle sister is peculiar :) next time if you want to age the paper, then try soaking it in strong tea, it looks much more natural
Awesome
I think your slender man base looks best because you focused on story over color theory. Marco Frisoni says that focusing on story at the start will help inform all your decisions after.
Looked up rimming but it took me to this weird black and orange website and I couldn't find much in the way of hobby equipment. Odd.
"I don't know about you guys, but I'm a bit disappointed in this one."
Me, who still uses citadel astrogranite on every base: _Oh_
Well, I googled how to finish my bases like you said, I am now unemployed, I will be at your doorstep to crash on the couch next week LOL
6:21 its a traaap!!!
For Sister You should use brass gears that "rust" green (verdigris)
If you're going to be cutting largish styrene pieces like that I-beam a hobby saw will help prevent accidents.
Sir, did you buy this lovely spatula at SPATULA CITY?
Just curious, why prime the base when it already looks amazing? is there a reason for this or just personal choice when wanting to design the colours better?
Made my day ;)
Where did you get the bags of bricks, metal pieces, etc?
It's from PK pro
You bought woodchips from some miniature hobby shop?
Mooor KDM!
Anyone knows if those plastic rods are available on amazon ?
Rimming, huh... "It's a trap!!"
This dude is funny af
Thanks, now my 8 year old son knows what rimming is.
Sorry: the pigments - do you actually need any solution to attach it to bases or not?
I can imagine that if you don't touch the base too often or if it's not a wargaming model, depending on how much there is, you can get away without using it
Where did you get the bricks?
Pk-pro!
My process is to just throw a bunch of basing garbage on that round thang.
