BTW, Lara moved to Canada when she was 19. Her roots are Belgian and Sicilian.
Ah. Okay. Thanks for clarifying. 🤗
@@RetroToMetroReactions To further elaborate Lara lived in Sicily when she was very young then moved to Belgium until she turned 19. Her father was a guitarist and I read he may have performed with Petula Clark early on in her career (currently she is 91). Loved every song from her concert "From Lara with Love" and she wrote the lyrics to several of the songs.; in this concert she sings in French, Italian. Spanish and English.
That is very informative. Thank you. Petula Clark! That’s awesome too. 🤗
Lara is just one of the greatest performers in the world and has been for over thirty years.
Lara is the Queen Of Resonance and vowel coordination. She is The Ring
Welcome to the fabulous world of the best female performer of this centuty, she is not québécoise but belgium/italian she came here in Québec 1990 when she was 20 yo, we all felt in love with her and she became canadian in 1995. One of our 2 Queens , Céline being the other one
Gotcha!! Signed Lara.
Lara is a perfect singer. Her beautiful voice coupled with the emotion of the song makes this a very moving performance. She even uses her breath to add feeling to the song. She 'sells' a song better than anyone I've seen. Lara is truly incredible....... a real artist!
This is like watching an entire movie with her arc of emotional and beautiful storytelling. A complete master performer with NO Equal in this world.
Hi 👋 my friend 😊
I'm glad to meet your channel 😂she's wonderful ginger 😂top of the top😂I'm so moved 😂thank you for your beautiful and fantastic sharing 😂have a nice Sunday 🙏 👋😊
Hi!, thank you for reacting to Lara 👏. Her voice is crystal clear, her range is stunning and besides she's one of the best performers. In this performance she perfectly accompanies the lyric and melody with the movements of her body and her face expressiveness, it's so hard not to cry, and I've watched this performance hundreds of times. Wacthing and listening to Lara I feel kind of like with Dimash. In my humble opinion, the best singers and performers on our time. If you want to continue reacting to Lara, "Je t'aime", "Ta peine", "Par Amour", "Ma Vie Dans La Tienne", "L'oubli", "I will love again", "la difference",..., are some of her great songs👏👋☺️
love LaraFabian! Thx for your reaction! Please check out Perdere L’Amore from this same concert. Thx!
Love her❤❤❤🇳🇱🇨🇼🇨🇼🇨🇼
Love Lara ❤

LA REINA.
“Je suis Malade”, now a french classic, was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973.
This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …).
When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and composed the music in a couple of hours.
The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes.
Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad.
But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s.
At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version.
She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet during his own Paris concert in January 1995. It was a triumph. So he sat in a front row seat and asked her to sing it again alone.
Lara also had made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power. Serge and Lara became good friends and performed several other duets later on.
The 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal)
czcams.com/video/eHSyk4SGtuY/video.html
is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries.
The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella.
Lara is used to perform the song very differently in each of her tour and for instance the En Toute Intimité, 2003, Paris Olympia version is even more dramatic

Many of the comments say you are the 'expert' for everything Lara! Welcome. I look forward to the education. I will be sure to listen to the other versions of this song, but what do you recommend I do next from Ms. Fabian?
Eric isn't the "expert" Charlene!!...He is "The Goat"😂😂!!...Hi Eric!!
@@RetroToMetroReactions Adagio or Caruso ...
As a Canadian you should watch her performance at the Juno Awards 2002, Love by grace, stand up ovation from her peers. Out of this world , she sings from her soul to ours
Thank you. I’ll check it out. 🤗
Yes! This performance "Love by Grace at Juno Awards) is my favorite..Well.. lol, honestly, I love all her performances.. But I think her raw emotions and facial expressions in this video and the fact that she's barefooted on stage singing in front of thousands of people.. just show so much of who she truly is.... ♥ 🙏
Yes. I've heard the name Lara Fabian, but I had never (to my knowledge) heard a song. It's sad really.
Great reaction. She really does touch your soul.
that is almost 25 years old, watch a recent performance. I just saw her several times in the past couple weeks and the way she performs that song is amazing, she is shaking at the end because she gets so emotionnal.
Any song from that famous concert is as close to perfection as a singer can get. I recommend you also react to Adagio and Curuso from the same concert. Love By Grace from the Canadian Juno awards is also great as is her performance of Yentl Medley live from the Molson Center in Montreal.
Thankyou Lara Amazing 😊
You are welcome Charlene!!...It was a pleasure....Yes you are right: She has a beautiful tone and she really lives the song...There are many incredible performances by Lara but you know the secret: Always Live Performances..You just have to read the big suggestions on the comments of the Lara’s army!!...Thank you Charlene ❤!!
Gracias!
Thank you for a very thoughtful reaction. Yeah, Lara was totally locked into the lyrics, the story. She took a good while to gain composure to where she was, on stage...holding her audience on edge to the very last. What a performer she is; such a great and superior artist. Thank again.❤
🇨🇦 Welcome, we have been waiting for you to join us ! Better than most (including Celine), became a Canadian and was welcomed ! That concert in Montreal is filled with gems ! You can learn all about her by reading the comments from Eric Sicard ! I suggest you react to her version of Caruso next ! 🇨🇦
Actually, She’s Belgian (born and raised). She arrived in Canada at 20y where she lived almost all her adult’ live and became famous
Suggestions, (1) Her brand new song:

Hello, merci pour ta reaction.
Quelques information sur lara.
Tout dabord lara chante toute cest chanson avec la même émotion.
Lara est considerer comme l'artiste qui retransmet le mieux l'émotion d'une chanson, ca voix, son visage, son language corporel et ses respirations exagérer en font une artiste unique.
Il y a une performance de je suis malade encore plu dramatique, concert 2003 en toute intimité.
Sinon continue abec ce concert lara from love.

Thank you so much for this reaction on our Lara Fabian!
There are so many other songs you can listen to, with another Belgian amazing singer, Maurane.
Try "Tu es mon autre" and "Evidemment"
And you can also listen to the fantastic Maurane, she was an outstanding performer and bff of Lara!!!
Greetings from Belgium❤❤❤
Big thanks and huge hugs for Roimer - he always guides everyone to the best voices in the world - Lara and Dimash!!!!! ☮️❤️Sea Point, Cape Town
Thank you my "Dear" and "Angel" Shireen!!...Huge hugs for you too!!!🥰🥰
❤ Lara ❤ The best female voice in the planet in my opinion. She’s an absolute goddess. BTW, for me, the best male voice will always be Fred Mercury, so I’ll never quit being sad that these two never sang together. Seriously, what an epic duet it would’ve been. 😢
Fred Mercury was Lara s favorite male signer
@@robertsirois8341 Really? Knowing this makes me so happy! Thanks for letting me know. Gosh! The two of them would have been perfect on stage together!
@@raquelra5878 Well there is a very sad story regarding Céline s Team towards Lara s career in the USA, Lara sign with Sony music NY in 1998-99 the same music cie than Céline , well they have block Lara s progression in the US , Lara then took the road to Europe and became major star there , in Russia and mid-asia, very sad story, i will let #ericsicard tell more about it, one of the reason they never sang together, Céline was and still is one of Lara favorites signer, very sad
@@robertsirois8341 I’ve heard about it and got so angry. Actually, I just know who Lara is bc I’m half Brazilian and my mother used to be a huge fan of hers back in the day, when I was just a kid. So, after some digging, I figured out what happened with her career in the U.S. and even thinking it was a literal crime, I’m proud of Lara for not selling herself and her artistic integrity to those sharks. She did the right thing to run away from them. 🙌🏻 She’s a true work of art just as she is.
That would explain why I hadn't heard of her. Celine... of course. That is so sad that record companies do that. Sad thing is instead of being a threat, they could have each brought new fans to the other and sold twice as many records.
She is amazing. Can sing in different languages. Please react to her "Caruso" in Italian. Broken arrow in English and Quedate in Spanish
👍👍👍
Thank you for your reaction. Just for your information, that wasn't French Canadian; it was French from France. Just thought I'd clarify.
Ah. Okay. Thanks. 🤗

a sunny woman who catches you like a moth in the light.
lara
the best of humanity....
That's all fine but she was in her prime between 1996 and 2003 so why not focus, at least initially, upon the peak performance years as an entree
I'm UK English speaker. A language that has given much to the world in general? But French? I honestly think that when it come to big emotions, (let's be honest we English don't really do that do we?), it hits home regardless of understanding the words? Some Italians might argue with that statement? Don't think you have done a Emma Kok reaction yet? And she's Dutch singing in French! Viola.
I tend to agree. Oh Emma Kok is still in my queue! I’ll have to get to her soon. 🤗
Soon as possible?
Possibly the greatest performer...ever. You can see it took a while for her to get out of the character.
As mentioned in other comments Lara is more Belgian than Canadian and sounds 100% French (Belgium).
#GabrielHenrique ❤❤Number like 618
I leave as a suggestion for your reaction, the talented Gabriel Henrique with the cover LOVE BY GRACE by Lara Fabian
Thank you for your thoughtful reaction and for sharing your feelings with us Charlene. Still, I lost you when you concluded with this comment: "You can hear that it's French Canadian as opposed to Parisian French"...I don't know what you mean by "Parisian" French. There is no such thing. Maybe you refer to "Parisian accent"? There are many French accents since French is spoken all over the world, in the French territories as well as foreign countries that use French as official language. Anyway, as @ericsicard910 reminds us, that song is French, and Lara Fabian, whose French is one of her native languages, speaks and sings a flawless French. Cheers.
Thank you. I guess I was showing my ignorance (again!). I just found that 'Canadian' French, which is the one I am most used to doesn't sound like French heard around Paris. Of course, like any language there are different accents... I just never thought of it. Thank you for correcting me. :)
@@RetroToMetroReactions yeah french from quebec is very different and she speaks it with a flawless accent too.
Listen to serge lama version, huge intensity

Lyrics "Promise"
You said that you'll be there when I get home
You'll do the laundry cook the meal for all
But I smell neither garlic nor the cotton when I'm here
All I hear is silence that you left when you disappeared
Why didn't you say
That you wouldn't stay with me forever
Like then on a day you first met me
I don't even care why you had to leave baby
You tear me apart
Look how selfish you are
Left me behind when I gave you my life
Where are you now
How am I supposed to tell them How
And you promised that you wouldn't leave before me
Tell me why you couldn't keep your promise
I know that you can't hear me like before
But there are things I think you need to know
The things that you would know If you'd just wait a little more
But you don't like to wait and now they think that it's their fault
Why didn't you say
That you wouldn't stay with me forever
Like then on a day you first met me
I don't even care why you had to leave baby
You tear me apart
Look how selfish you are
Left me behind when I gave you my life
Where are you now
How am I supposed to tell them How
And you promised that you wouldn't leave before me
Tell me why you couldn't keep your promise
Just checking to see if you received my next song request? Carl Smith ( Hey Joe) it's a video link.
I don’t think I saw it. But I’ve added it to my list. Thanks Robert. 🤗
@@RetroToMetroReactions Okay Thank you! Take care!
She speaks both Quebec French and Parisian French, including change in vocabulary, many sentence constructions and most pronunciation. In that song, she pronounces a few sentences a little with her Quebec tempo and tonal accent, but I am sure that no European will notice.
Even so, the song was written for a male French (Paris) singer. For the sentence that make no senses in Quebec French, she definitively distances herself from a neutral accent that sound both European and Canadian (Like CBC). She switches to Paris French. For example, "comme un gosse idiot" is masculine gender and very Parisian French. "Comme une gosse idiote" will be feminine gender, but more importantly, no native Québécois will ever say that. So, that part of the song sound a lot more European.
I have listened to that same song she recorded pretty recently in Russia. Not a hint of Quebec vowel "Deeper A"... Will see when she comes for her show in Ottawa soon.

Her name is Lara, not Laura. Can't Americans read ? But who can, dares to dive in a song this way, who dares ??? Brel does and who else ?
Who dives into a song what way and what is Brel??? And for the record, I started to say ‘Laura’ and corrected myself right away.
She dives into that song, not just sing it as most do. And you can see how long it takes for her to get out of it again. Jacques Brel is a singer and you can hear Ne me suite pas where he does as well. And for the record, most Americans name her Laura. @@RetroToMetroReactions
