Those planes have to be the tidiest F-16's in the entire Air Force.

cant u save money if u use water vapor as the smoke? And so that u dont have to worry about running out?

I was in the Air Force for over 12 years as a Security Forces member. In the early part of my career and for several years I stood guarding these types of aircraft. It was boring but I learned a lot form the maintainers and pilots of the aircraft. They were usually pretty cool but you had a few that didn't like you because you were S.F. but those type of people were few. What I never did ask though when I would talk to the F-16 crews was what is the purpose of that small divider looking deal right there in the front of the jet intake? If someone could answer that for me I would appreciate it.

rmandiou1 : It just adds a bit more strength to the intake.

what's the expression "nickel" tour mean?

SSaugaCriss I believe it means like a quick tour. I can only assume that since a nickel is worth five cents it means like a five minute tour.

are sure the engine is P&W? I think it is G.E.

You are right they and wrong, the engine varies with the different block numbers. I believe BLK42's and up are General Electric. The Block 32 is in fact a Pratt & Whitney.

Look at the nozzle. It's a PW 100.

      If it ends in a 2 (32/42/52), it's a PW engine. If it ends in a 0 (30/40/50), it's a GE engine.

The Thunderbirds have to install a smoke system to make an F-16 smoke. The Mikoyan and Gurevich Design Bureau can make any F-16 smoke. Of course he better be good, or the other F-16's will make the MiG smoke.
