    It amazes me that they get such precise control from such a small movement - seems like you would need a wider range of movement for more precise control. Also I don't see how they can do precise control while under maximum G forces. If your hand weights 8 times normal how can you control ? I went to air shows all my life and watched the T-birds fly. Now I fly my own F-16 Thunderbird remote control model and do many of the moves they do in the shows. It honors them and brings back good memories for me. My favorite move is going vertical and rolling until almost out of sight.

      If you notice @ 1:15 the seat is reclined 30 degrees to combat the g-forces on the pilot during maneuvers but it also means the pilot won't be shot directly and his knees would clear the dash. If it's anything like the F/A-18 the pilot will be attached by low leg garters that will pull his lower body close to the seat as well.

    • @KPX-nl4nt
      @KPX-nl4nt Před 3 lety

      @@Ayetsu The F-16 doesn’t use leg garters or anything like that. The seat is reclined enough that the pilot ejects at a 30 degree rearward angle.

    The Thunderbirds have to install a smoke system to make an F-16 smoke. The Mikoyan and Gurevich Design Bureau can make any F-16 smoke. Of course he better be good, or the other F-16's will make the MiG smoke.

    I was in the Air Force for over 12 years as a Security Forces member. In the early part of my career and for several years I stood guarding these types of aircraft. It was boring but I learned a lot form the maintainers and pilots of the aircraft. They were usually pretty cool but you had a few that didn't like you because you were S.F. but those type of people were few. What I never did ask though when I would talk to the F-16 crews was what is the purpose of that small divider looking deal right there in the front of the jet intake? If someone could answer that for me I would appreciate it.

      He most likely flew a different kind of fighter before joining the Thunderbirds, probably the F-15. When that happens they learn enough about the jet to do what they need to to on the Thunderbirds-start it, fly it, emergency procedures. Then its all air show all the time.

    @SuperAwesomeNation You are mistaken. The F-16 was designed in the early 70s by GD. Lockheed bought out GD in 1993. Lockheed Martin has been building 'em for 20 years, but they did not design it.

  • @Maverickf22flyer
    @Maverickf22flyer Před 13 lety

    I wonder if this was a Block 30 or 40, cause it can clearly be seen that it has a GE 110, telling by the nozzle type, and this one normally produces at least 28500 pounds of thrust! Cheers, F-16 FTW!

  • @Maverickf22flyer
    @Maverickf22flyer Před 13 lety

    @slashsound F-16 is the answer!;) It has great control at very low airspeed and high alpha due to the onboard computer taking care and filtering his inputs! Virtually, the onboard computer would allow the aircraft to be controllable even at 50 knots, but with low input response...! For short, it keeps it within limits anytime!

      General Dynamics sold their manufacturing contract to the then-Lockheed Corp. in 1993, which merged with Martin Marietta two years later and then merged again to become Lockheed Martin another year after that. (My dad was an aerospace engineer at the Lockheed campus northwest of Philly from 1977 to 1999 and all through the mergers.) Maybe that's what he was thinking of, if this particular aircraft was newer than 1993?...idk lol.

    there is something i need an explanation about it in this video, the aircraft was stopping and to go airborne it is just took roughly 6 seconds, is it true, in addition, from the video, I cann't say that he was deploying the afterburner also i heard the word afterburner. the question is? did he moved that slowley and then went airborne in 6 seconds and low speed as it seems in the video. the speed readings is not displayed in the HUD
