Couldn’t agree more about the dock. It’s so beautiful I placed it on my nightstand not even connected to a TV.
I wish they sold it separately, but then again it’s a special edition so it I guess some how makes sense

I think the green makes more sense than you might think. Breath of the Wild was very blue-heavy. Through the trailers, posters, cover art, and especially in game, there are a ton of blue elements. For Tears of the Kingdom, I think we are going to shift to a green-centric game. Wherever there was blue in Breath of the Wild, will now be green in Tears of the Kingdom

Gold+Green it’s an ugly choose of colours to put together in my opinion I fell was still better but it’s still a nice edition specifically the dock
I wish both JoyCon had white patterns because it just looks so sick, but yeah honestly the green accent here overall, is very Tears of the Kingdom and it’s gonna be a pretty iconic characteristic in a couple years
I actually really like how subtle the back is, coloured main bodies make them look weird when using different joycons and also draw too much attention. I dont like using the limited joycons when im out of the house because i dont want to damage them since it would be difficult to replace and are more likely to get my switch stolen
Exactly it works with any JoyCon, and not only that but the back of the JoyCon being white means they’ll look good on almost any switch as well. Nintendo is really thinking about compatibility here.
I really didn’t like the Pokémon sv switch because of the colors on the back

@chaoscolby I don't really think the scarlet violet switch looks bad, but I prefer something that doesn't stand out as much, and I also don't always use the limited edition joycons unless I'm at home since I don't want to lose or damage them and the purple and red back doesn't go well with other coloured joycons, I primarily use a blue and orange pair of joycons when I am out of the house because they are my 2 favorite colours(other than pink but I don't like the pink Joy cons colour) and the bright blue wouldn't look good with the purple and the orange colours don't match with the SV switch
I personally love the Zelda oled back. It’s simplistic, not too much is going on at once and it’s on theme. Also if u own ya know it’s textured and feels nice lol. The Pokémon one fire was too crowded and the colors kinda made it worse tbh, way too much going on for me.
i like the subtle black detailing on the main body. not distracting and doesnt age itself quickly. its neutral and doesnt make it look like a childrens toy

My biggest gripe with this system and all special editions so far is that the joycon grip is just the standard black one. It would look so much better with a matching one for the joycons
When I see that green pattern on the JoyCon, the backwards auto tune chanting immediately pops into my head. The white gold though just looks so awesome I wish it was on both of em lol. Gotta agree though, that dock is really the stand out here. 👏
This looks way better in person than pictures and videos give it justice. Personally I really like the green because it’s way more interesting than black or any other color they could have chosen to go with gold.
They went with the green aesthetic over the blue because green (courage) is the theme color of Tears while blue (wisdom) was the theme color of Breath. I bet we'll see a red (power) in the final game of the trilogy on Switch Too!
I think the minimal back design is perfect. The switch is designed to use many different joycon, so a neutral back looks best. This way, you can still see it’s a special addition, without ruining the way it looks with other colours. I’ve done some shell swaps on my old switch, but always went back to the classic black since most of the shells only looked good with their corresponding joycons. I think the Scarlet and Violet switch suffers from the same issue - it looks AMAZING with its original joycons, but I imagine it looks off when paired with the neon blue/red ones, or other colours. A good balance is maybe the Japanese one (I am forgetting the name), where the system is mostly black but with a couple blue points. This gave it colour without affecting its overall ability to look good with other joycons.

Doesn’t make sense since they did with the Splatoon 3, ScarletViolet, Animal Crossing, Mario Red, and the Special editions they had with the Lite.
I know it didn’t release with those special editions, in case anyone thought I was serious.😂

I’m really liking mine. I kind of like the Splatoon 3 edition a pinch better but both are very very cool.
I finally upgraded from the standard Switch to this special edition OLED version, thus far happy with my decision. Now patiently waiting for the TOTK to come out, meanwhile playing some of my backlog games...

I think that green was chosen ro match the color of his new tunic and thr color of his new right hand power. It represenrs the game coming out.
traded in my white oled yesterday and got this one really appreciate the texture on the back compared to the regular one
As a Switch Lite owner, part of me is tempted to get one of these OLED special editions, but feel like when I do they'll announce a new generation Switch 6 months afterwards.
Exactly how I feel. I bought one anyway, my reasoning is that I'll be able to put CFW at some point in the future
Was well worth upgrading from a lite. I will miss my indigo lite but the bigger screen size is so much nicer. The d pad and overall feel of the lite is missed but I’m happy with upgrade. Alot of back and forth deciding. Traded in the lite along with my Xbox one to go towards it.
Well we still dont know what will happen in the future 😅, they might introduce pro version as switch sold alot of console and still selling good, i dont think they will ditch this huge player base (more than 122mil unit sold) for new generation console

Lite owner here, while I couldn’t justify a purchase of 350 USD for this OLED I did get a White classic OLED yesterday for 150USD and man it is worth it 100% I understand what you mean about the upcoming Switch 2 but just live the present.
my favorite is still the Diamond & Pearl Palkia Dialga Pokemon Edition Lite. Thing is just so clean and mature . still my primary console

And I agree, I wished Nintendo could've put more effort or added some gold coloring into the back of the Switch and Joy-Cons at least, but oh well it is a nice and clean Special Edition and could be the last OLED model before a new Switch model is released

I have like 5 zelda special editions, including the brand new tears of the kingdom themed zelda switch oled. I have the og zelda 3DS, 3DSXL, Ds Lite, and game & watch system as well.
I love it so much! I'm a collector and bought the collectors edition of the game but the switch is sold out EVERYWHERE in my country 😭
im just glad they are doing anything with the body at all my smash special edition only had a cool dock and joycons with just a plain ol switch
I really like it! The left joycon isn't doing it for me (maybe bad color combo, maybe lack of green anywhere else) but if this was the system i picked up i would enjoy leaving it as the centerpiece of my entertainment center.
Totally agree with the left joy con. Have ordered it myself, but I will probably get some white joy cons to use with it instead. The console and dock looks amazing tho
Also not a huge fan of the right joy con either. Definitely better than the left, but the gold on white on the dock looks a lot better than the white on gold on the joy con imo
The left color being so different is to reflect Link's arm in the game
I find the green fitting with the entirety of the Zelda franchise. It gives me nods to the old games. That classic green

I own the new Zelda one and the animal crossing one. And whenever they make a new console I will just move them to display units. Unless the next console isn’t backwards compatible.

I was just like you but by providence my local GameStop had 4 left to reserve when I asked about the collectors edition game.
I decided to just get the system as I love Zelda and I must say I felt like I just came out of a dark cave into the sun lol!!! It’s so premium compared to the og battery eating Switch.

I think the main body should have been white and gold to suit the joycon, only the Mario switch had the main body red other always been black if I recall correctly
I called this Zelda edition switch on one of you older videos saying “all we need now is a switch Zelda edition version.” And look now we have one years later.
I like it, might get it (and sell my current OLED). I'm just a little frustrated that Nintendo (or maybe the Japanese in general) seem to just love asymmetrical designs. Even Ganondorf's robe/tunic is different on one side with the sleeve. I can understand different Joy-Cons in a sense to add variety, but even the dock design is asymmetrical and it really bugs me. At least with most Joy-Cons I can choose to use the same color on both sides, but I can't change the dock.

i really need to get back into my special edition shopping game. i decided to forgo the collector's edition game because i only cared for the artbook and figured i'd buy that secondhand, but this is just something i didn't know about and definitely would have purchased right away. i remember losing sleep over getting the majora's mask 3DS lol

Mine is coming in so I'm exited!! Huge fan of Zelda games. I'm going to wait after the release of the game so more controller come back in stock like they always re stock like month later. Hopefully they restock the collector's edition game.

My guess is Nintendo keeps the body more subtle (minus the Scarlet and Violet) so that other joycons can still look good. I really wish they’d release just the joycons on some of these special editions they’ve been doing.

I like the Zelda oled back. I like that it’s more subtle. I don’t like how crowded the Pokémon oled looks on the back.

Its a gorgeous console, but I'm still going to rock my red box switch a while longer. I feel like new hardware isn't very far away.
I agree, the Switch looks beautiful for 720p or even 1080p when on a TV/Monitor, but it's been using hardware from 2017 ever since. It's not bad hardware, but with consoles like the PS5 or Xbox being able to output 4k or even 8k, it just isn't up there. I think we need at least 1440p 60+ fps. Nintendo focuses on fun instead of the coolest looking, overpowered console, which I can understand. You don't need that type of stuff to have fun in gaming, but it's nice to have.

I’m down with the white and gold even the green and gold which I don’t think they will do again. Black and gold is super cool but white and gold just feels more of a calm beautiful look which is the vibes of the open world game

I really didn't need one of these but I got one anyways. Once I got it in my hands though I was happy I did. Since I'm in Japan right now I could easily get it off amazon JP, and with the currency exchange rate it only cost me $308. Just going to sell my old Switch to a friend and at the end of the day I have the nicest looking Switch special edition for a good price.

So happy i bought the other zelda joycons so i can shelf the new gold ones as they wont be easily replacable

Target had just one in stock yesterday so I grabbed it.
I don't understand why Nintendo can't ever give us at least a white joycon controller grip...the wrist straps are white, the docks are white...why not the grip or even the console itself? It doesn't even have a small gold decal or anything, it's just the basic grip they probably have a whole warehouse packed full of.
I would also like the front face of the dock to be taller so it could hide the bland only-black console sticking up.
Does yours have the green tint issue? I got 3 in a row with defective screens 😭
The only good thing about the back of the Zelda OLED is that, from a distance, it looks like a regular Switch, making it stand out less. Even then, you basically have to know about the circle design in the game to know what this console is.
I feel like Nintendo has taken over the Special Edition console competition. Microsoft doesn't even do Special Edition that much anymore.

Sucks that satisfye's won't be shipping until June 30th they're kinda late to the game on this one
I picked up a bunch of skull & co accessories while waiting for my TOTK switch. The switch finally came yesterday and playing it in the grip is amazing
Cheap in that they used this to dump excess in that factories, namely that control and the rest of their white oled safety straps obviously.
Probably the best value switch you can buy rightnow as well Collectors will eat this shit up once its dried up and gone. Not scalping but if you
were thinking about buying the switch 2 or whatever it's going to be called you can rest assure this will sell fast and easily.
