  • Reupload of an older ESPN video of Isaiah Austin revealing to the world one of his then-secrets: he's blind in one eye. Despite that, Austin was a 5-star recruit and was on pace to be drafted by an NBA team, before being diagnosed with Marfane Syndrome.
Austin is still playing, though. Just not in the NBA.
Austin is one of my idols in life.

Life with Alexa Thanks so much for the comment. I adore you and Isaiah’s family. Isaiah inspired me so much because I have little vision left in my right eye. I remember crying when he revealed his Marfan Syndrome diagnosis. God bless you, Isaiah and your beautiful fam!!!!!!

Unfortunately it’s not his eye that is not making him play in the NBA. He has a really bad health condition.
“The condition enlarges the aorta, the artery that carries blood from the heart. The more an aorta expands, the more likely it is to fatally tear. Especially considering that blood pressure increases with physical activity, NBA doctors declared Austin ineligible to play“

@@gladepittenger9395 wow I didn't know that. I thought it was only because of his eye. Thanks for the extra information on his health condition👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

He was gonna be a lottery pick in the 2014 draft, but just weeks before the draft his heart condition got discovered. On the draft night to open things up Adam Silver talked about him and then said "For the next pick in the NBA Draft, the NBA selects Isaiah Austin" it was nice but sucks that he couldn't play.

I will recommend my son to only play basketball. You risk getting CTE in football and you risk getting hit in the eye by a baseball.
