A MAN born with no limbs, who took up break dancing as a way of making friends, discovered he not only had a gift for it but that it could inspire others. Gabe Adams, 19, was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Hanhart syndrome, a rare medical condition characterised by underdeveloped limbs, mouth and jaw. In Gabe’s case none of his limbs grew at all. Adopted by American parents Janelle and Ron Adams, Gabe was brought to the US as a baby and grew up with his 13 siblings in Kaysville, Utah. From a young age Gabe started using a wheelchair but parents Ron and Janelle were determined that their son would be as independent as possible, pushing Gabe to learn to move independently of his wheelchair. At school he tried out for the dance team as a way of making friends - discovering he could use his limbless body to his advantage in the art of break dancing. After graduating from high school Gabe has continued to prove his independence, moving out of the family home and embarking on a career as a motivational speaker.

Is nobody going to mention the parents in this vid? They adopted Gabe. How many people would take on that kind of responsibility? They are also true heroes in my opinion. They adopted a kid with no limbs and raised him to be more of a man that you usually see nowadays out there and showed him love and encouragement. WOW! JUST WOW! Yes, life is tough, so what! The harder things are the greater the pay off/reward. I worked many years with adults with "disabilities". Life is relative. Someone with two arms and two legs could in all honesty complain because they don't have 3 arms and 3 legs. Think how much more you could do if only!!! None of us is given it all. Everyone has to deal with life on its own terms. Thank you Gabe and thank you to his parents for understanding the best love there is to help someone become as genuinely independent as possible.

The parents are pretty awesome for not babying. I like that they treated him like everyone else. Even though it was painful for them, they had to teach him to have the confidence and believe in his abilities.
The fact he's buff yet he has no limbs shows he's committed to being strong
That means that he uses all his available body muscles to get from day to day.
It's a smart move when you don't have any other limbs. Gotta still try to be be physically as dynamic as possible for each and every scenario.

I went to school with Gabe! I’m sure he doesn’t remember me but it was always incredible to see him take his own class notes and do everything so independently. I remember him performing with our dance company and at different assemblies. It was so cool! I’m so glad to see that he’s continuing to dance and that he’s become an inspirational speaker.

His parents are the perfect example of what parents should be. Whether yoir child has a disability or not. They were his leader, his guide, his protectors. Not his friends. So many parents forget that is what they owe their children.
My parents are all of that and my friends too ...you need to realize that parents are kids ínside too
i'm pretty sure they were/are his friends too. I think it's important for your parents to be your friends. Parents should be parents who can guide and protect you, but also a friend that can provide emotional support, that you can talk to, and that you can have fun with and hang out with. My father focused too much on being just a parent I had to respect and fear that it built this big wall between us. He treated me a way that I will never forgive. I was distant from my mom as well for the longest time because she always sided with him. But these days, she's been more of a friend to me and now we always hang out, talk, and laugh together. It's been really really great and not so lonely anymore. Parents are supposed to be your friends. Why wouldn't you want to be friends with your own child? Don't you want to get to know them as a person and be there for them?? There are things that you'll never know about your child unless you reach your hand out to them as a friend.
And his parents clearly adopted him knowing he had such a disability. So obviously, they're going to raise him with love and care.
Disability yes but high functioning autism or some other heavy disabilities can ruin marriages with how bad they are.

Or maybe they're simply superstitious (some say 13 brings you bad luck). Joking aside...more than anything - you need a good financial situation - to be able to raise so many children (a huge house, even basic necessities like food and clothing - can cost quite a lot... on top of that - you have the expenses for education and so on and so forth....). And a big hearth. High sex drive too... his parents were probably rabbits in a past life.
@@XSAlliN Yeah, money is definitely needed to provide for so many children, but the parents also needed to decide that that's what they want to spend their money on! I think it's not only about investing financially in your children but emotionally. Caring for children is hard work! And they obviously did right by them, the same can't be said for a lot of people with just a single child! If the children get enough attention and turn out alright even if they're so many, that's all that matters to me.

He is so inspiring. I do not have legs myself and I too of course would wish I had legs at times. But I have come to the point where it doesn't bother me. The only time it bothers me is when I want to do some exercises and i can't. I gained more weight after my twin pregnancy and it is getting so hard to lose it. I am working hard to lose but otherwise I believe I have a message to share and I should embrace my "no legs" self. Thanks for sharing these people Barcroft. They make us see we are not the only ones!!
