    This hits very close to home as I was also born with a facial deformity. My case was nowhere near the severity of little Yahya, but between the two operations I had; one at 3 yo and the second at age 9 I did suffer the stigma and trauma of being bullied and called names, even by adults, which is inconceivable.
    My surgeries were an outstanding success for the year 1969. It was performed by whom I want to say was much more than a plastic surgeon, he was an artist. As I grew and reached puberty the scars disappeared, only leaving a straight vertical line on my upper lip. I became a handsome young man and by age 23 I also became a fashion model for 3 years.
    This documentary has moved me deeply. Kudos and blessing to the wonderful team of doctors who helped this little angel in living a normal life. Special thanks to Fatima for undertaking the task of setting up the process, and for having such a loving heart.

    • @jorgevillavicencio427
      @jorgevillavicencio427 Před rokem +12

      @@kerriecardinal68 sad, but very true. The insensitivity of adults leave indelible scars on children. As I grew I forgot about the bullying from the other kids, kids are kids and don't have a filter. Adults are a totally different story. In my country of birth communism took over in 1959. One of their models of operation was to reward unqualified people with power and positions of authority just to get them on the side of the new government. Most of those were criminals of a lesser degree, but others had committed more serious crimes, like grand theft, forgery, sabotage, etc. They were losers who carried a great deal of resentment against those who were successful. Cuba didn't gain independence until May 1902. And its first constitution was drafted and ratified in 1939. It was considered the most progressive in the Americas and granted many rights and opportunities to the population. The resentment and envy of those who Castro put in positions of authority was completely unfounded. Those never took advantage of what was available to everyone. My family was not wealthy, not even upper middle class, but everyone went to school and had access to free medical care and upper education. We lived comfortably and that was frowned upon by certain teachers in my primary school who bullied me and called me names like, split lip, Frankenstein, spitting slob, among other nasty names. So, other children see that behavior and mimic the adults.
      Sorry for the long winded story. I just figured that I should elaborate further into my particular circumstances.
      There are also wonderful and very kind people in this world. Like those who helped that little angel so selflessly.
      Have a great day.

There's honestly not a single negative thing that anyone can say about a single person in this entire video because they're all just absolutely amazing. It's also great to see something where the people in the comments are all saying positive things and not attacking one another. I just came across this by total accident and I am so glad that I did. How do you know if the family had been on a waiting list to immigrate for medical reasons and family that baby might grow up to become a surgeon that is doing what they did to improve her brother's quality of life. You have no idea how they're here, they would have to been sponsored for starters and it seems a lot of charitys do actually do the right with donations not like others. How do you know the family even moved here?. This is a old video.

    What an amazing boy he’s proving to be from having a rare facial defect to having a normal face His family bond is one way he’s so lucky to have , from his loving parents, his new sister and a group of amazing doctors and surgeons who banded together to save his life and to give him a face he very well deserved to have. Eventually he will grow up to have a beautiful new life awaiting him. Many blessings in store for him and his family.
