The night before this I wiped on gruul a few times with a pug and we didn’t kill… then I watched this live and felt a lot better. I woke up and they were wiping on gruul. Then I left for the day, came back 3 hours later and they were still wiping. I really enjoyed it. McConnell 6 hours into the raid asking what range shatter is. It was priceless.

@@ramsandnails You can add modifications to your weapons which have different effects, but the optimal synergy will depend on the nature of your class in relation to the nature of the weapon's modification.
For example, certain things are better suited to classes that mostly deal physical damage.
Fiery weapon is an enchantment (modification) intended for physical damage dealers--it's also an enchantment intended for players who are low level (I don't know your general familiarity with the RPG genre, but leveling up your character indicates some permanent progress made to their attributes, the more you accomplish things in the game the more you level up--to put things in perspective, the maximum level in this game is 70, but fiery is intended for players who are like... level 10).
So, two things: Coldsoul is level 70. He's also a mage, meaning he doesn't deal any physical damage--he relies on spells instead. So fiery makes absolutely negative sense, lol.

No it wasnt, people didnt go into gruuls/mags with vanilla gear expecting to down it they actually got gear first, the reason why it was hard back then was because most people didnt know what they were doing. Now people are like "WE CANT DOWN BOSSES WEEK 1 THIS GAME IS HARD AS FUCK!". Lol who in their right mind expected people to just skip the gearing process to down content.

I die everytime McConnell calls something before the raid so asmond agrees and then when the loot hits asmond he’s like ok we’re rolling for it
I remember doing this the first time with a group full of blue and green gear only to never be able to do this again later with groups that were full purple because 50% of the healers were so stupid they can't switch healing targets and sometimes they just stand around and self heal through a whole fight.
I use to love LFR because I enjoyed seeing how shit the raids were, this raid reminded me of those good times!

Was playing WoW on the side the whole time, and even my entire leveling guild kept talking about watching this raid. It was hilarious to watch

I have never played WoW in my life and I can’t get get enough of this.
This is giving me serious flash backs to Gruul's. I almost died laughing when I saw the portal on top of the HS's.
Why am I watching this after 2 years? Because I did this raid 14 years ago. Gruul required precise positioning during shatter. Our RL walked each of us to the precise spot on the perimeter and that's exactly where we ran. It did take 2 days of trying.

I never played wow and I understood the explaining of the shatter mechanic than half the raid. How hard is it to move away from each other when you land by someone after the knock back. I think he was being trolled, no way 6-7 hours and 8 people were still dying on first one.

Back when Tier 5 was the active grind, I have to admit, Gruul's Lair was... work. Karazhan was pure enjoyment. Gruul's was work. Granted we weren't the best raiding guild around. But we did eventually pull it off.
The best part of this video is 25:31 in chat: "Do /range 18 and win". This is correct. DBM defaults to 11 which is the wrong range and leads to shatter death lol. Hahhahaha.
And that is why blind reliance on add ons like DBM makes people bad and unable to adapt

This is retail wow in 2021 you have to explain how the threat table work lol this is so easy now for tanks to build agro one attack after a rez and boom 1st on threat table. It's great to finally see a stream with a real classic raid with people geared in blue with non meta classes. This is how it was back then in mid 2000 not those raids full of mages with the bis gear in all slot.

If I remember correctly you need for this boss an Aggrometer addon like Omen. That's why Mcconnell died often because of the Aggropalcement.
