THE LAST SAMURAI = MASTERPIECE
He's good but he will always play second fiddle to the talent of James Horny..
Agreed. One of the best soundtracks ever.
@@paki7522 no way, hans zimmer is very advanced and creative. James horner specialise in drama only
And surprisingly underrated, it doesn’t really come up often when discussing Zimmer.
Hans has scored like 60 movies into huge successes. That’s unparalleled in Hollywood, in film, in almost any industry.
I like how he goes “I saw the script and I hated it. Then I met the director and I loved it”
44:26 Ok let’s stop before interstellar and talk about inception?
Hans- Oh... oh.. yeah it’s my fault that everything goes brraaam
Since this came out 5 years ago, he's done some of the best work by any composer ever.
Riddley Scott and Hans Zimmer............................. what could be better.
Terrence Malick and Hans Zimmer.
What an inspiration..Hans + Interstellar..it doesn't get better
It is so nice to hear Hans speak so highly of Tony Scott. I don't think he gets the credit he deserves. He will always be one of my favourite filmmakers.
Andrew Pilcher Yes. Zimmer's score for "The Fan" is probably one of his most underated ones. It's really a great score.
The last samurai is my favorite 😍😍
One of my favorite composers. He made some of my favorite musical scores EVER like The Lion King, Gladiator, Mission: Impossible 2, Broken Arrow, The Rock, Bird on a Wire, Crimson Tide, Drop Zone, The Fan, Tears of the Sun, True Romance among others. What a genius.
I like Thomas Newman more hun.
@@lievevlindertjes.7933Zimmer is my favorite. Love Newman tho. He did a great job on The Green Mile.
This genius even has a cool name
An absolute genius! Bucket list to listen to his live show!
YOU SHOULD!!
Just watched him in Dubai this weekend. It was transcendental! You must not miss it.
@@boredguy8497 haha! I see a fellow attendee also scouring CZcams for any and every video of Hans after that awesome show! I saw that people have uploaded recordings of the Dubai concert, what a night to relive!
Fascinating man. I could listen to Hans Zimmer all Day. So genial and inspiring about how he interprets sound. Very unusual technology and so beautiful and imaginative. ❤❤❤
Living Legend!
I love Hans work in Sherlock Holmes 🕵️♂️
And Inception 🎥 oh and to me his best work? Gladiator!!!
There are so many things to say about his musical genius. I often think about his philosophy, quite close to Paul McCartney's who's always so excited by new stuff and never runs out of ideas.
He's the best
James Horny is better imo.
Man of Steel and BvS are my fave
1:22:59
"Oh for fuck... Oh.. sorry"
LMAO!
As a fellow artist i understand . As your told the story the music automatically comes to u for every scene.
Thank you
Interstellar always makes me feel creative
I laughed so hard on this interview😆
Crimson tide was a good movie with a soundtrack to match 🎞
Thank you for showing this. My favourite music is from The Dark Knight Rises. Believe it or not, it helps me to sleep. I put the CD player on repeat and it helps me to calm down and drift off to sleep. I especially love the way the music growls at me. I love Hans Zimmer's music.
So am i. pretty much listen to everyday.. Especially, Main theme. It is fantastic.
Really? With all the creepy, booming chanting?
Well they should have mentioned The dark Knight soundtrack. This joker theme could be standing alone as a masterpiece haha
Je suis Parte I mean sure it’s effective but it’s not much thematically which differs from some of Hans’s most gorgeous works. Like Gladiator and Lion King. Ahhhh so good. And what makes Hans music so incredible, I feel The Dark Knight (2008) kind of lacks that. Certainly an incredible and effective score but it, to me, just doesn’t have the same emotional value that makes his scores so memorable. Apart from the ending cue.
Hans deserve far more honor and respect by this interviewer. A greater artist will probably never rise again in the next 1000 years
44:30 Crying
I like Hans's lesser well known stuff. But his genius can be seen in Gladiator, Sherlock, Last Samuri, Intersteller. Overall he is a risk taker and I'm sure he never tries to repeat himself, he is definately one of the greatest innovators, Dunkirk, Inception, Intersteller, Dark Knight, the soundscapes he creates are amazing. The innovation builds on Jerry Goldsmith scores.
Lesser well known stuff? Like what ?
@@BooneLuleyo Psycological recovery 6 months, Black smoke, Frost nixon, wheel of fortune, a world apart
Zimmer plus Ridley is platinum
That scene from gladiator, rising to the stadium sounded like batman
And the first battle in gladiator actually contains the pirates of the Caribbean main theme pretty much note by note.
Interstellar because it's so emotional and free of form and gothic etc....
yes! you are right..
I was hoping to hear more about The Last Samurai.
"Where I grew up, the house round the corner had a pipe organ"! WTFF? Haaaahhhh? Okay, I'll give him that - the man is still the best modern composer by a country mile, and I'm pretty sure that the pipe organ wasn't the key this success :O) What a talent!
E.G. Systems it took interstellar to make me realise how amazing an organ is!
The biggest movie he’s ever done wasn’t even talked about…Pirates
The Rock is still my favorite, then Black Rain and Broken Arrow.
Every artist needs his own Maggie ❤️
28:00 Gladiator
There's not only Wagner in his Gladiator but the battle scene is practically straight from Holst.
44:28 Braaaaam 😂
Hmm I’m not sure how I feel about the Sherlock homes score. Absolutely love his other work though. Anyone here the intro to crisis 2 ? It’s so good
1:01:00 interstellar
Where does he mentiom the last samurai ?
I hate that rarely anyone talks about Angels and Demons. I thought he, alongside Nick Glennie-Smith did superb
What's the name of that toilet in Malta? I can't understand first word (32:18).
"Then finally he remembered: it's the crew's toilet in Malta."
@@itsjuliam Thank you.
♥🌹
At which point do they talk about Malick?
23:00 😂😂😂
Crimson Tide... USS Alabama... Tarantino... Alabama... Alabama Worley... True Romance... o__o Everything finally makes sens, twenty five years later...
11:30
I still think interstellar is his masterpiece
The best in the business. He's had such a big influence and his films were the best of the era. But I do feel like his dominance is starting to make blockbuster movies a little generic.
I really think hans zimmer is not a human being... he is a god ... a human being cant create music like this
One thing's for sure, Hans Zimmer loves repetition.
He does, but somehow, to me, it's not tiresome to listen to nor is it even bothersome.
@@kookaburanu-nu True 👍 Hi from Australia 👋
@@riteasrain Hi 😁💜
There is no other film composer as innovative as Hans is.
OK, I love Zimmer, I've been listening to his work for thirty years, and the guy is a genius (although it took Interstellar to make me admit it)... but what he did with Don Giovanni was pretty weak. Even when I hear his explanation. I know, it didn't ruin a good movie since these Sherlock Holmes movies are... well, Guy Ritchie movies, but still. I'm used to thinking : "how lucky is that very average flick to have its music composed by the great Zimmer !"...
Ghost Writers look it up
33:09 "Wackin' Phoenix" really?
Somebody should educate the interviewer on how to pronounce Joaquin Phoenix’s name! He calls him “Wacken Phoenix”!! When he first said “Wacken” I wondered, who in the world is he talking about?
Calm down and get off your high horse lol it’s very easy to understand who he meant based off of the context. They were clearly talking about Gladiator. The interviewer did fine you pretentious prick. Now beat it nerd
Seems he wasn't all that proud of the Lion King score.
Congrats Hans. It's your fault.
45:52 This is how inception starts
1:01:20 Interstellar
so England lost? LolZ
This host has obviously got an attitude problem; lack of respect and constantly interrupting Hans. Let the man speak!!
For me the best of hans zimmer is only 14 movies and I consider khaled hammad better than him
Remove the music and interstellar dialogue is awful 😂
He's good but he will always play second fiddle to the talent of James Horny...
who?
That guy who made the Titanic soundtrack.
paki Horner, you mean, perhaps...? I couldn't disagree more. He's composed more than 150 film scores, but I only remember a few of them, made between the late 80's and the mid-90's : Aliens, Glory, Legends of the Fall, Braveheart and Titanic (and don't talk to me about Avatar). Hs work is infinitely less eclectic than Zimmer's.
SCharlesDennicon agree completely. And braveheart has one of my favourite love themes in all of cinema. Then again, I am biased as I’m from Stirling.
Gladiator is not a great soundtrack except now we are free and a little part of might of rome
