Crossing South Africa's Karoo desert. ALONE. [S5 - Eps. 31]

  • In this episode, I ride more through the Cederberg area, after which I enter the South African Karoo. A semi-desert, stretching for thousands of kilometres through South Africa. Magnificent scenery and I have to give full throttle to Savannah to make it through here and reach a place to stay for the night. After scaling the Ouberg Pass, I descend towards Sutherland, the star gazing capital of South Africa!

My favourite Noraly clip of all time., the moment in this video when she has reached the top of the pass, removes her helmet, takes hold of her massive sandwich, turns her face to the sky and spreads her arms wide to both celebrate and absorb the earth and air and wonder around her. A moment few of us ever experience, when our heart and soul are open and free and full of awe and appreciation for life. Thank you Noraly!💕👍🏻😁👏

I agree. I am glad others are inspired to experience personal goals and adventures, but I am saddened when I see other female solo riders attempting to copy Noraly’s video style and content. The truth is that simply riding a motorcycle is not an uncommon skill. Nor is riding off road trails and secondary roads. Equally solo travel is also not uncommon. What IS uncommon and irreplaceable is Noraly herself. It is NORALY that makes her videos and journey uniquely special. Her uniquely exuberant personality mixed with her staunch independence, her sharp intellect, her academic knowledge as a geologist, her natural kindness measured with her finely honed instincts to perceive threat and danger in both landscape and creatures . You truly do live a blessed life. You do work hard for it. Of course we don’t get to see a day in the life of Noraly, not really. A behind the scenes look at your life on the road. But that’s okay because most of us know or have an idea of how hard or rough life can be on the road in multiple ways. One can only imagine. We assume that the satisfaction you get at the end of the day is what drives you on. None of this stops us from loving you for what you do or worrying about you while you do it. As I’ve said to you before. Ride safe and have fun. 🇺🇸 Great video Noraly. You never fail us.
