Definitely What’s so magical and sad is that when they formed they were young guys with the likes of the Rolling Stones and others been around a while Then all the original members die And the stones are still recording and touring I was so very lucky to have seen them live in 1992 on the mondo tour I still cherish that moment getting Johnnys autograph Standing only inches away Love The Ramones Everyone should be a Ramone
It’s TOTP so yeah it’s definitely a playback. I’m surprised they even had the Ramones on as they are not the sort of band that the BBC would normally give airtime to. Absolutely love them and so glad I got to see them live here in England.
I remember this when it was broadcast! Super exciting! To my knowledge, the only band ever to play two numbers in a row on Top of the Pops!!! Shame the instruments weren’t plugged in, and odd that Cretin Family was not on the DVD release. Luckily saw them at the Astoria in 1995 and Brixton in ‘96 at their last UK show- Marky was going like the clappers-was such a blast. Made my day! Miss them loads.
@@ScottishTeeVee …..didn’t the Sex Pistols do a similar thing ? In fact TOTP’s went through a death-throws period where they were breaking their own rules in what qualified to appear on TOTP’s, I don’t think it was just the Ramones and Pistols either…..
@@davidheafield1436 Oh yeah, you are right they did Pretty Vacant and New York, I totally forgot about that until you mentioned it David. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
Absolutely love the Ramones and every single member who has contributed to their legacy but I got to say I loved CJ. As you said he was exactly what the band needed,Dee Dee was an incredible bass player with so much stamina to play the way he did but for me personally CJ came in and gave the Ramones a bit more edge. Just my opinion so don’t hate me,no one comes close to the Ramones!
@@garethsavin4464 I watched an interview with CJ a couple years ago talking about how he had to change his right hand technique because Dee Dee's style was so fast to replicate and it became painful. Of course he figured it out.
Just realized both these songs were pre recorded. Hence the guitar solo that magically plays in I don't Wanna Grow Up and how CJ stops playing bass during Cretin Family and it doesn't sound any different
Every week for decades TOTP was a puddle of mediocre piss . Once in a blue moon someone would do something insanely off-brand and book an actual band . I remember when this was broadcast , i could hardly believe my eyes and ears . I was sad about their farewell tour but they still delivered in spades . One of the best nights out there was - the distilled essence of rock'n'roll !
I don't know why people say he isn't? Anyone who joined the band was. It only wouldn't be if 4 totally unconnected people bought the name and made a band out of it.

Good thing you recorded this!!! I still have some of my old VHS-tapes. I recorded Ramones 1992 special from MTV and other bits and pieces 🙃
@@anttikoponen9647 Hold onto those tapes, lots of MTV clips do not exist in their archives.
@@ScottishTeeVee I surely will keep them!!! Cheers!!!
the best band that ever existed on the face of the earth
You 100% right!

Ramones are a way of life! I miss them so but their music and legacy are forever!
They were an are all talented..but this seems playback

You could be right about them being the only band to play a few tracks back to back on TOTP, I can't recall it for anyone else.

Have a feeling the jam did it 1982 for a town called malice and precious
Think the Jam did it with Town called Malice and Precious.
Went to 50 years old, respected his own words, what a class and nice guy Joey!
he died at 49
I still have my vhs tape of recording this . Best Band ever imo.

Joey so beautiful❤️❤️❤️❤️

Few bands ever played live on this show, but at least they got on the show which was very unexpected at the time.
❤🎧
Saw them that very night at Leicester Uni. Still ceaselessly looking for any footage or audio of that, if there's any. I won't rest until🎸.
Top tune!
Tom Waits wrote it.

I was amazed that TOTP booked them and let them do a few tracks, very unexpected.
To say the least 😃👊
Well 1978 wasn't really mediocre on TOTP Sham69 , Buzzcocks Siouxsie the Jam, The Adverts Stranglers 👍
Ramones es considerado banda cimiento, éso lo explica todo.
Excelente

¡¡¡JOEY IS HOLDING THE MIC!!!
Jajajja re Duro Marky
hacen playback pero los amo😂
ASÍ! SIN PAMPLINAS PLA PLA PLA RAMONES !!!!!!!
No es para tanto, Loco.....si hacian PlayBack......y ni el Dee Dee....andaba por alli....
2:48 did Joey want to let him know there more
I think so
Ha, who's playing the single note solo while Johnny is playing barre chords?
was the give away that no instruments are plugged in or...that TOTP's famously relied on playback for nearly all performances ?
Single note?
CJ Ramone is a RAMONE
Ohh really?
I don't know why people say he isn't? Anyone who joined the band was. It only wouldn't be if 4 totally unconnected people bought the name and made a band out of it.
Felicitaciones...que buenas imagenes...como se llaman los temas??
The hair goes crazy
Dont know why they didnt have it cut.
CJ is great
Love The Ramones but that's not live
GABBA GABBA HEY
Explain the meaning exactly.I bet you dont know, its alright noone else on the planet does.
Sad in playback
There is nothing in the title or video description which says "Live"

Thank Tom Waits for writing it.
Dónde puedo ver el concierto completo?
Eso es todo. 100% Realmente no queda ni un segundo más.
eran 💯% argentino
It,s playback
Fly all the way to UK just to mime
Nope, they played at the London Astoria on June 27th and 28th, then University of Leicester on the 29th
I was at the Leicester show and i still have Johnny's plectrum !
The ramones are better than the Beatles
Britain had the Beatles. We got the Ramones. Sort of makes you sorry for the Brits.
But we did have Black Sabbath and Motorhead ....
@@jimmytgoose476 Motörhead basically reloceated to the US at one point
And we germans have at least Kraftwerk 😅
Play back
Really ? Are you sure? 🤣
I guess even as late as 1995 they still forced bands to lip synch !!! WOW
they still do it up until today. It's more common outside of North America, especially for small studio shows.
No way this is real live, it's a playback man
Ramones Gabba Gabba Hey!!!!
PLAYBACK
