- In this history of WoW video, we’ll be looking at the history and the different appearances of the Druid Bear Form. While the Bear Form is usually associated with the Guardian specialization, it is important to note that any druid is able to shapeshift into a bear.

I had some fun when the Cata pre patch came out with my druid. I had logged out in dire bear form and when the pre patch hit I was stuck in dire bear, like I could not even shift out. I actually had to jump out of the sewers in Dalaran and die to get out of dire bear. There was a bug fixed within a day or so but I thought it was hillarious that they left out the whole "stuck in dire bear because it does not exist anymore" aspect of the class.
I loved the quests associated with the different forms. I miss the feeling of pride completing them instead of just dropping some gold at the nearest trainer.

Both Bear Form and Dire Bear form always had their mouths open in vanilla. The only reason one has their mouth shut in that screenshot is it's dancing, and dancing was one of the few animations that shut the mouth. They looked, visually, the exact same. Dire Bear Form was basically just the improved Bear Form, in the same way warriors got plate armor at 40. That was all DBF was for: an armor and health boost at 40 to keep up with warriors getting plate.
I know it would have been hard to balance, but i really wish Druids were just strictly hybrid specs. Weaving in and out of forms as the fight progresses would have been awesome to see and to me make Druids even more flashy to see.
Ya say that, but in like a raid or dungeon you're not usually paying attention to playmates, you're looking at the trash and the boss.
Didn't seem to be mentioned in the video, but Dire Bear Form was acquired at level 40, the same level that Warriors and Paladins got Plate Armour (as well as Hunters and Shamans getting Mail Armour).
I can't remember when the armour upgrade of those classes was removed, but I think it was around the same time Dire Bear Form was removed.

Dire bear form got removed MUCH earlier than plate upgrade (it was legion for gear upgrades) it might be cata but instead of learning dire bear they instead changed the name of upgrade from dire bear form to something about their fur or skin i cant remember anymore but the gear upgrade remained the same for all untill they all got removed but the changed "dire bear form" upgrade was only for guardian

The armor upgrade for Paladins Warriors Hunters and Shamans was removed with Legion
Bonus fact, the goldshire inn has a constant Bear population that never falls below 4
You forgot to mention the new form they get when the mage tower came back in patch 9.1.5
He also didn’t show the armored variation of bear form when using the MoP and WoD versions of Incarnation: Ursoc
When my brother first got me into wow, he played a Druid because I loved the bear and moonkin. I was like 8 or 9. Such a good brother. He just got his degree last night in biomedical engineering 😊

I started playing Guardian druid 4 weeks ago on my fresh 70 druid and last week I timed my first +20 keys of Dragonflight and got 2500 io for the first time ever. I'm currently 2802 and finding out how much Fortified+Bolstering hurts lol. This video came at a lovely time. I've enjoyed Guardian quite a lot. For my first season tanking m+ it has taken me to the promise land. I do wish the community was less cringe and willing to let me earn the white werebear form though. That tint is my favorite but the Fel Werebear or BoP bear will have to do I guess.

Noticed that too. The Felbear is a reward from the current-Legion Timewalking redux-version of the Mage Tower for those who are curious.
A couple of things I feel were missed:
- From Wrath through WoD, the only way druids could change their bear form was to change their character's hair color at the barber shop. The Legion artifacts added the option to select an appearance from those unlocked, but it was not until Shadowlands that druids could independently pick the appearance of their bear form at the barber
- Bear Form's abilities have been limited to almost the same set since vanilla, but the addition of Moonfire to that list in Legion feels significant enough to mention
Blizzard is So boring.. thye could have added that you could use the ink and colours bought from vendors like tailoring vendors -but hey its and ip that booby the world destroyer protects + there are colour items in the wild nature but hey us devs cant think that far sicne someone only hires jee sayers

Forgot to mention in MoP with the talent Incarnation your bear form would get battle bear armor during the duration of the buff
You forgot the best change for druids we all love! In shadowlands, all druid forms you've unlocked can now be changed to whichever you want in the barbershop with all your alts!
Thought he would mention the new bear form model offered with the mage tower revamp.

Are you going to do one on treant form? It was removed so might be short. I would to talent rundows of classes and specs(like how prot pally went from trash, to meme, to OP back to inline)

The only thing I hate about Bear form is their slow run speed. I understand differentiating the different forms, but when real bears are really fast runners, it gets a little frustrating when your badass fantasy bear is a giant slowpoke.
Can't they at least have run speed slightly lower than Cat- and Travel form?
Funny that right after this video came out 10.2 dropped and we got new bear forms. :)
Bear form also has an increased charismatic affinity with vampire PCs.

Yeah it's backwards. There was one main requirement for the model, and then subrequirements for the tints. Players could use the model as soon as you got the main requirement. The main requirements for the different models were getting the artifact; finishing the order campaign; the artifact upgrade unlock from Balance of Power; the PvP honor level (10); the hidden drop off Ursoc; and the Mage tower. In short, you got new models at progress milestones.
And to repeat it for completeness, all the tints for a model were independent and getting all four tints didn't get anything extra, nor did getting the achievement for the set (as the video said incorrectly) unlock anything new. Once the main model was unlocked, the player could just use any tint they already had available. And like OneOfTheLoveless said you didn't have to unlock the full set of tints with the Fighting of Style ach to unlock the new model, the player just needed to get the main milestone.
Funny, the most recent druid tier set had wooden Bear feet
the base and foundation of Warcraft's lore and story is so cool and fun and interesting, but Blizzard failed to build on it, I mean you can go back and read War of the Ancients(about Nightelves, Illidan, Malfurion, Tyrande and the first Burning Legion invasion)and it was such a good book I couldn't stop reading it even though I never really liked reading books

You can get Fel bear form in towera still. Heard they reopen it per expansion at some point or that its always been open. Not sure wich one it is.

You get the appearance before fighting with style. Fighting with style is the achievement for having all the appearance, not the achievement that awards them

Im so torn between druids. I love that zandalari trolls are dinosaurs. I also lobe how the mulgore tauren cat looks. Since ive seen a highmountain bear with antlers the mulgore versions looks kinda sad. But i dont like antlers on a cat. Then again the drust wicker versions of bear and cat looks absolutely awesome. I wish i could have them all but i like the race specific forms giving them more lore and culture

It has to be both infuriating and exhausting hearing everyone tell you what you apparently forgot to talk about when you release a video. Consider that the creator didn't forget to do anything, and that they chose not to for reasons they have no obligation to explain, and by explaining it would in fact be mentioning and talking about it.

We need actual different bear forms not reskins of the already given bear form, werebear is the closest to being different and its limited when you can get it… boring give us new ones the only one thats different is zandalari which is a turtle even the kul tiran is a bear but just with what looks like tree stuff all over it. Just lazy at the end of the day.
I dont think a “recolor” is really changing the bear form, thats just me though.
