Trace not gonna lie that was me for my GM promotion game. But too be fair at that level it’s either the enemy team mirrors goats or it’s gg. Lots of free sr cause the enemy team refused to run goats.
It even worked in Bronze. I played it twice, once as the Brigitte and once as the Reinhardt. Won both times easily.
I remember that people hated GOATS so much that people began to harass the voice actor for Brigitte via online and real life (as Brig was broken on release and the core support in the meta) like WTF thinking is that.
Its the internet. People say oh games and reality are different but guess what, the same exact people will harass VAs for a character they hate proving that games do in fact effect reality
Because gamers can be the most toxic kind of persons you meet on the internet.

@@LunaticJ MK did not take skill. He was able to air camp out almost the entire cast, all of his attacks had crazy frame data, he could ignore tripping by just not landing, shuttle loop had I frames and could kill by the ledge at 60%, he was the best scrooger due to his gliding

yeah but valve killed the r8 with the update, the r8 never got a chance to be a good weapon, valve made it to powerfull, but also nerfed it into the ground

The most annoying thing about the Lion meta is he would often be combined with Dokkaebi and Jackal. If you got tracked by Jackal while Lion's ability was active there was literally nothing you could do. You stay still; the pings from Jackal showed where you were. You move; every attacker can see your outline. Combine that with the audio cues from Dokkaebi and playing on defense was hell on earth.
And don't forget Blitz who'd blind you as you're forced to stand still.
Brigitte perfected GOATS, she didn't cause it. The first goats comp was based on Anna being able to charge up her ult super fast with multiple tanks.

I was so casual in Overwatch that at one time QP-ing for my challenge rewards, I legit thought the other team was real hot stuff for managing to spawn camp us the entire match... only to find out that was just GOATing months later. Quite a chuckle that was. At least that wasn't widely known outside competitive and I still finished that challenge.

This is a real OG one, but frost's shotgun when she came out? probably the most broken thing i've ever seen. thing could one tap to like 30m... they had to rework shotguns half a dozen times afterward.
Honestly I wasn't too surprised about the GOATS meta. When I first started playing OW I noticed that you could literally win without having any dps. They don't do nearly enough damage and are WAY to squishy. Surprised Blizzard didn't see that much earlier.
2/2/2 is lame tho it kills the fun for casual too
@@tyraywilkerson3180 Not really, 2-2-2 saved the game tbh. Finally, there were no 3, 4 or even 5 dps insta picks, which sucked for all tank or support players. Now the players, that liked the way comp used to be, have open queue. So in the end, everyone is satisfied. The vast majority of the playerbase that liked role queue can continue playing it. And the minority of players that didn't like role queue can now play open queue.
@@ExeTheEnhanced I have a reason to why I dont like 2/2/2 and its since I was a classic overwatch player like season 3 classic i stopped playing a season before role queue was added so i took along lengthy break from overwatch and when i return i was like I'll try comp and the queue times for dps was and will always be horrendous and I'm an aggressive player on anyclass tank support damage (obviously damage) so I decided to reintroduce my self to the defense category and since there's not one because its dps which saddens me so I have to sit through queue times longer than marriages

Brigitta + healing buff overall was the enable of goats. before that it wasn't good at all, you could just play spam comps with pharah and dominate 3-3

I came to see Tekken 7's Leroy Smith, after his first release, there were 7 Leroys in the top 8 of Evolution Championship Series 2019 and the only player who did not use Leroy did make it to the finals, but lost eventually. He had better verions of the strongest characters' strongest tools, like Jin's parry, Bryan's orbital(Leroy's parry, whose command was back1 was just slightly worse than Jin's parry, but had a larger hit-box). No matter how powerful a character has become, they never lead to most of the gaming gods to leave their mains and play him, but Leroy did. There is a video posted by theScore esports on him and a video made by basically the most famous Tekken-tuber, @TheMainManSWE.
Especially in a game Tekken where a panda that's been playing long enough is viable to win a tournament

Juggernaut meta was pretty fun actually. Like it was exciting to watch. Ardent was kinda boring but it was ok. I just want the meta to change consistently, and not stay the same.

Everytime I play Overwatch it feels like actually shooting someone with a gun does nothing. For a game that is supposed to be a fps, the guns seem to tickle while abilities do all the damage.

@@Pool.bruv23 no, double shield is meta in 4000+ to a stupid extent. brig zen dive is played in tourneys sometimes, but it's not like it's crazy hard meta, since it actually is kinda hard to execute properly. double shield takes literally 0 cooldown management/mechanical skill. a hogtied paraplegic could play either sigma or orisa and still be effective.

@@Vladd0r it was fine for shock and vancouver - I don't think it was bad to watch necessarily, I just think it looked terrible when a good team rolled a bad one. Unlike currently, it didn't even look close that's why goats was bad for owl. It made a few teams like good and the rest look poop.

The thing that's really messed up about Goats is that Blizzard apparently felt they couldn't really even balance it out. Their solution was to just force an incredibly narrow draft space on the game.

Brigitte is the most OP hero ever, other gamedevs have the balls to recognize their mistake and take a character out of the game until it's balanced. Brig is STILL OP to this day.

Leroy meta from Tekken 7 the beginning of the year was something as well. The whole roster could be used somewhere before Leroy’s release. After the release, EVO Japan had like a 75% pick rate on him alone as well as a person who was a character loyalist; dropping his character and winning the tourney in the end

When Dark Harvest first came out I uninstalled League of Legends until they fixed it. The game I left had 9 players with Dark Harvest and I was died from almost half hp to Brand E. Uninstalled the game immediately and waited for Riot to see some sense.

Literally everyone had it and early fights used to go forever just as somebody is about to die they use it then another one uses and another one. I don't think anyone on any champion entered a game without Inspiration tree runes. At least in Thunderlords meta some auto attackers still ran Fervor of Battle.

As a long time OW player, I knew GOATS was going to be high on here. Nearly killed the game. OW still hasn't been the same since Brig was released.
Even then, it's still not the worst meta in the game. GOATs was becoming less meta when 222 was launched, moving over towards CV style comps. Double shield was infinitely worse. Goats had its upsides, double shield made me quit.
Now Mei is the problem

I am not familiar with the meta of goat but I played smash and being honesto bayonetta killed the game. Not only she was strong but she was safe to play if you tried to kill her she killed you, if you tried to run she outrunned you it was horrible. I cant compare these two but I can agree that these metas destroyed the game
@@zharls5658 I quit OW because of goats, my favorite game for YEARS I finally got grandmaster rank... Then goats. My 3000 hours in tracer became useless as my team screamed at me for not going goats and when I was able to play dps I got bodied.
@@truthwillprevail6663 ok but even then, OW didn't lose nearly as much as smash did from ONE character, that and teams like Shangai were still able to win consistently when not going goats. That and it was still more interesting to watch than bayonetta
no, smash 4 bayo was worse. The game singlehandedly died because of her. smash 4 must have lost 10 times as many players as ow because of her. she made the best player want to quit even more then he already did and also made players lose at 40% because of 1 move hitting. bayo is number 1

GOATS killed Overwatch for me
why, imo goats was pretty fun and skill intensive. you did need a very coordinated team to play though. It was way better than bunker or double snipers.

Fun fact regarding the broodlord infestor meta in Starcraft 2 : It came back in 2019 and it was even worse than before. It lasted one year, and top Z players pretty much never lost a late game situation with this comp

My friend who played competitively said that almost everyone played Leeroy in that time, which he was unprepared since it was so new.
That broodlord infestor meta was the most broken thing in SC2. Protoss players even tried building Phoenix's which are air to air specialists but even they got locked down by the fungal growth. Like how is a flying unit gonna get rooted in place?!
Terran players got the worst: parasite from Infestor
Do another one with One Eyed Mask and Lord Of The Wolves from Destiny 2. One Eyed Mask was so broken that playing any other class aside from Titan wasn't worth it. Lord of the Wolves was broken for an entire season and it was even paired with One Eyed Mask

Somebody in here remember the fckfest D1 crucible was back in the days with the sniper shotgun meta? I still remember getting kills with my Felwinters that were straight up unfair
I used to play Elder Scrolls Online, and that game had the worst metas of all time. The devs could never balance.

ah yeah the 2018 Magicka Nightblade meta because they were the only class that could sustain
Disagree because TESO is a game where skill matter at first.
In pvp you can perform realy good with 80% of specs, and the remaining 20% are not especially weak but sometimes their gameplay only works for some type of battles like 1v1 or cyrodil.
About PvE it’s the same. You can do every raid achievements with 90% of specs. But player just copy top players who only aim for score pushing that of course will take the more optimized compositions to do so.
So yeah some classes tend to be stronger by a little in some aspects depending on the patch but definitely not enough to be called broken.
Atm and for almost a year meta has been pretty descent in my opinion.

My favorite part of the SG 553 meta in CS:GO is how the weapon was literally the same from 2014 through 2018, after which it received a price reduction and people finally noticed it was actually a good gun all along, maintaining popularity even after the price went back to the standard 3000.
Took the players four years to notice the gun was relevant. I can't get over that hahahaha

Autosnipers are good for spamming for some wallbangs, but aside from that, they just cost too much.
Actually this gun existed from the beginning of Half Life: Counterstrike mods. So it cost community decades to find out how broken it is.

That acutally didnt bother me as much as the Six Sam meta, where the entire game was either getting to fight Shi En with dual weild or Lava Golem Weevile spam.

Swarmlords in SC2 I remember being worse than the Broodlord meta. Games took forever, but unless the other player killed the zerg before they could get set up, it was basically just a waiting game for the opponent to run out of resources.

They were talking about the metas that made people want to stop playing, not the ones that cultivated extremely skillful and hype matches and single handedly carried its e-sport's career until people found more skill and hype in Melee.

Meta Knight was probably more OP then Bayo, but Brawl didn't have a thriving competetive community when he was introduced.
Hell I think Bayonetta is the reason Ultimates DLC's been alright but not top tier outside of Joker or some really really good terrys.

I loved Smash 4, but playing against Bayo felt like making one mistake could cost you the game. That feeling was the worst. Thankfully, I had amazing friends who never touched Bayo so I could still enjoy the game

@@nihonii3341 with X Factor 3 and Dark phoenix, she has so much damage and raw power that she can chip an entire team to death in the matter of seconds, let alone all the infinites she has in that state. You can literally play the game flawlessly up until the fact that you gave the Phoenix player full bar and still lose without touching her.
Does feel bad, but thats the point of MVC3 its made to be broken, many characters have infinites in that game. That broken gameplay is what makes it special/hype, like when justin wong won evo 2014 defeating some of the best players using said characters with a relatively weak team.

To people who dont know Smash 4’s bayonetta, just imagine a fighting game character who has a lot of mobility and can kill off of almost any attack plus she is still safe if the enemy blocks it. That’s not even all as she can also slow time or teleport away briefly after getting damaged.....
she even got nerfed really badly, and was still by far the best character in the game and the best smash character in history imo
to be fair alot of the chars didnt have alot of tools to even counter her and the way smash is played makes her even worse a character like that wouldnt work that much in any other fg
Funny part is, towards the end of Sm4sh Esam was consistently taking out all the Bayo's, finally making his "Pikachu busted" have some merit in at least being a counterpick to the best character in the game.

Just for extra info to show how ridiculous of a change this was:
Riot frequently reworks entire champions’ kits to make them more interesting or balanced. For the first time ever, Riot attempted to rework a class of characters all in the same patch. Following this, one of the characters Skarner got the highest Solo play winrate of all time. Darius, (the champion getting pentakills in the clips) basically was able to kill everybody in 2 hits once he had killed 1 person. Mordekaiser was able to summon dragons, and obviously Gangplank was 100% pick/banned. Most of the changes from this update were eventually removed if not nerfed into the ground.

Tank meta: Nothing can kill tanks because their items were busted
Ardent meta: ADC/support 2v5 the game
juggernaut Meta: What's new
Banner of Command meta: Buff up a cannon minion and sit there.
Mage Bot Lane (adc's were no longer valid): ADC's no longer did damage, mages replaced them.
*Here's the big one you guys missed* : Funnel. BASICALLY: Mid laner plays a support, Jungle plays a carry and gets mid + jungle gold, then watch them scale and win at 30 minutes.

They forgot the IO-domi-aghs of OG. It ruined pubs for months even causing players to leave a match and accept the penalties for it when there's an IO on the game.
The thing is that meta isn’t easy to play you need pretty good coordinated team to make it work a good example when Team Secret tried to play the meta it didn’t work

OWL teams tried running 3 tanks and 3 supports before GOATS came around. The only thing stopping it at that point (end of season 1) was Mercy... Then she got nerfed.
3 tank meta with Ana and Lucio was cancer lol.
Every meta from season 3 all the way to the goats ban was bad tbh (except the short time after Bio nade was nerfed)
