- Join me as I take you through the solo experience of Luthier: The Art of the Instrument - the latest game from Paverson Games, the company that brought you the wonderful Distilled.
Luthier is a 1-4 player, blind bidding, action selection game where you make instruments for Patrons, and claim first chair in the orchestra pit.
Luthier hit's kickstarter on 16th July.

Another excellent job.
Thanks Paul. Hope you are enjoying the game
Thanks Mark, glad you enjoyed it and appreciated the interactions we tried to bring to the fore of the solo game.
Thanks David, it all works so bloody well - a really great solo experience.
I am so excited about this game! Thank you for providing such great coverage on the solo mode!
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Lol I liked the tag at the end of the video.
This is an important video on the game. It gave me a pretty good idea of how the game would play solo. Though I think I might play this 2p more than solo, unlike Distilled. That one excells solo.
Thanks for this preview, Mark! Great coverage and explanations as well as insightful opinions. The timing is great as I'm currently trying to choose between backing this or Ada's Dream and the campaign for Ada's Dream will end before this one begins. I really like the look and feel of this one but wasn't sure how good the solo mode would be with blind bidding as the main mechanism. Sounds like they worked it out pretty well. Also, thanks for the heads up on Tom's playthrough. I'll look out for that one!
My pleasure and I hope it helps you make a decision. Ada’s Dream also looks great but I haven’t played it. Yeah, Tom’s videos are excellent and always a great way of getting a feel for a game .
Good to hear 2 of my projects made your shortlist, more coming soon!
You could always back at $1 for Ada's Dream because you'd still have full access to the same prices and bonuses afterwards. Also, you might want to think if others around you are more likely to have Luthier (seems like it will be huge), if you have Ada's Dream then it would be easier to borrow a copy of Luthier than Ada's.
@@CG_Hali Thank you! That is a great suggestion and what I ended up doing, actually. And since I'm the main purchaser in our group and I like collecting the games, too, I'd rather own the game I think I will enjoy more.
Two questions I have about the solo rules. @18:30, you buy and sell some resources. Is that a rule specific to the solo game? I play-tested the solo game a few months ago, I I thought that occurred during the resolution phase of the game. Maybe I got that rule wrong then as well ;)
Second question, @27:28, the automa takes the workbench action. You also pull your worker from your workbench. In the multiplayer game, these were independent of other players choosing to perform the action. Has that changed as well?
