If you make a show for only 2% of the population you get 2% viewing figures.
Not only that but if no one is watching live tv any more, and the ratings no longer matter as its not important, then what is the point of the License Fee??? If people would rather watch online only, you should no need a fee for live viewing, as no one is live viewing. QED. So make it a subscription service like Netflix, online only and be done with it.
Its not 2%

A lesson to be learned is don't do deals with Disney
Or push the message so so hard
@@ravens-cryptwhy are they so obsessed with "the message"?
Unfortunately, seems the BBC was headed in this direction before Disney got involved.
@@ryuno2097 Their goal, is to create the "new man".
They think they can shape any human to become anyone, just by affecting what input the person gain growing up.
So, by selling propaganda, they think they can create the perfect citizen.
If you want the original source for this, read plato's republic. Where he talks about how they would shape their citizens.
Of course, the problem is that it does not work. But they are still trying, after over 2000 years.
They dont care. The BBC are a bunch of absolute lefties now and consider messaging far more important thn anything
Once the BBC made brilliant historical dramas. Their book adaptations were out of this world. Now..... BBC and Disney deserve each other.
My mom and I used to love those, especially _Pride and Prejudice_ (1995), _Wives and Daughters_ , _North and South_ (2004) and _Cranford_ . These days their historical dramas are hard propaganda with only a thin coat of story and no regard for accuracy. I miss what they used to make.
@@talithakoum3922BBC's adaptations used to be the best. Mother Love, Life and Lives of a She Devil, the 1960s Wuthering Heights has never been surpassed.
Their Rebecca with Jeremy Brett and Anna Massey was the definitive version. I'd love to know their reason for never releasing it on DVD. I suspect some delicate blossom in their retail department had a fainting fit when they learned the denouement.
@@talithakoum3922Look at the new episodes of Wolf Hall have replaced some original white historical characters with blk ones.
Their misguided committment to diversity casting has ruined historical drama. The beauty of those adaptations was that you could sink into the era, but how can you do that now when you're constantly being reminded of 21st century demographics.
@vordman It could backfire on them.
"Black people were oppressed"
"No they weren't, there were black dukes and duchesses, I seen them on TV."
The Overlord DVD channel claims to have an insider at Disney giving information on the Episode 1 & 2 numbers. They were so bad, they were pulled down from the internal Disney system last Monday. Viewership for Ep. 1 was reported at 52k, with 73.8% of that number tuning out before the end of the show. Unofficial, and not verified, but Overlord is usually pretty good with his inside info.
In the US the views dropped as low as 200k. Putting it in Disney plus and advertising it with Disney's Gay Agenda (TM), 52K is probably really good considering. I don't know what Disney expected, they make shows for targetted Demographics... and that Demo is really small, even in the US.
Since they have started showing the TV show, they have lost 600.000 viewers. Thats 200.000 per episode 🤣
Lucky they only made 8 then.
From a starting figure of 2.6m. That's almost a quarter of their entire start audience. It would still be quite bad to lose a quarter of your audience if the debut episode was about 10m, as it was with Jodie Whittaker's debut episode. But when your debut episode is as low as 2.6m in the first place that's a massive chunk of people to lose and a huge problem.
Also it's worth taking into account that it's being promoted on Disney+ as well which suggests that its target reach audience is way larger than it ever was before.
And that's in ONE week!
Yes and its only been 3 episodes...keep that up to the end of the 8 and see where it is....
@@CoffeeConnected Exactly. Sad thing is I expected this to go as it is doing. I have pointed out elsewhere many times Jodie started around 10 million and dropped to 2 and above. Gatwa is starting at the 2 figure and falling fast. Even if they lose a few thousand per episode going forward its still going to take them down to the 1 million or just above by the end of the series...And on Disney+ its failed, getting around 500,000 views. Less even than the live showing on the BBC. Not only that but 73% of those views switched off before then end of the episodes....I bet they keep that quiet.
There's definitely one major glaring reason for the figures, the Fandom have moved on and RTD was the master of it's demise. The only thing I want to know is how low will it go under the weight of all the narcissits involved in creating this hot mess.
And they always have a built-in excuse: "our customers are bigots!"
Excuses are irrelevant
Fruity Gatwaaaaaa LOL Lost 600k in one week. Boom!
Sunk to using slurs against the lead actor? Dang. You really are the worst kind of human beings imaginable huh? Normally you try to say the quiet part... well... quietly? I'd have shot myself in the loins if I'd known it would have lead to your creation, personally.
Have they considered that the BBC doesn't cater for an English audience anymore, and all the foreigners they have imported into England aren't interested in anything BBC at all.

@@NoNeed2No lol. That's quite a generalisation. I'm an immigrant to a different Western country... one of the nice educated f'rners, not the staby, stealy, wife-beating kind. A lot of my kind quietly dislike The Message because we recognize that it aims to destroy the societies that kindly welcomed us and gave us a chance at a better life. But if we speak out too loud, the cult just assumes we do it because we are poor savages who don't know any better and then -- well, they make it their business to *educate* us. The other kind of migrants... Yes they benefit from this krap but will sooner self-delete than internalize any of it. So I wouldn't say they actively take advantage or that most of them have an agenda. They just like living here and making money. Then there are those who think the way you assume they do... But if the day comes to protect western culture, people like me will be on your side against them.
@@NoNeed2No can't get the full reply past yt gods but briefly -- I'm an immigrant in the west, one of the good ones. Gee who could have seen THAT coming?!?!? Im utterly shocked.
It's obvious that the iplayer numbers are just as terrible as the TV numbers. If it was a case of the TV numbers are so poor because everyone and their dog is watching the show on iplayer instead, the BBC would be shouting it from the rooftops and be waving the figures in everyone's face.

Just a gay bloke on a night out with his female friend who massages his giant ego.
They actually weren't so bad in this episode, but I think that's probably down to Steven Moffat, who wrote this episode.
@@Jonathan-ic9ef I thought they were terrible, and the writing was less than ideal. Silly remarks about war and lesbianism for no reason. Is she even a lesbian, or was he just being 'funny'? He keeps moving around on the mine, but I guess that's just failure of the actor to stand perfectly still, so maybe that's a minor issue. The whole episode itself was still pointless, and his dialogue was far worse than 10 years ago. She's literally just a fake Clara. It's painful to watch and pointless that she even exists in the show.
But, what I really wanted to say is that their acting is horrible. They really cannot act well. The whole thing was just a way to throw in the new companion, it seems?
The story itself is a mix of other things and nothing great. He also threw in a few elements from old Doctor Who, stealing it, reworking it for this new show, maybe? Or was that meant to be homage? Who knows. I don't trust the BBC or Disney or any of these people nowadays. This means, my first assumption, until proven otherwise beyond any doubt, is that everything they do is for propaganda purposes and to ruin what already exists and abuse children and Gen-Z idiots with their filth.
If Steven wanted me to assume he was writing solid stuff for a general viewership, he shouldn't have touched Doctor Who. He shouldn't have made it a woke woman. He shouldn't be on this whole train of, 'we don't even want white straight people watching it' or whatever they said. The Doctor himself came out at some point and pretty much said the Doctor is queer and 'not for white people'. This reminds me of Captain Marvel when the actress said she doesn't want 'straight, white men' watching the film.
Davies praised this episode as a masterpiece and said that fans will talk about it for years. No. This isn't even close to Steven's best writing on this show or any other. Some of his worst, maybe. Extremely boring and lifeless, with the Doctor crying about three times, which almost never happens. Smith cried a few times, when it was very important for the wider story and themes, with a great emotional and otherwise built-up of about 20 episodes.
I agree with you that he's clearly not as crazy or woke as Russell or the writers of She-Hulk and so on, but it's still one of the worst Doctor Who episodes of all time, and I've seen some of the old ones and every single new one since 2005.

The media establishment speak of IPlayer as if it's some new trendy thing which was just released recently just before this series of Doctor Who. IPlayer has existed for 16 years, 2007, when Tennant was about halfway through his tenure as The Doctor. As you quite rightly state you have to compare like to like. So it's fair to compare viewer ratings with previous years when IPlayer was taken into account since the Tennant days.
The article tries to dismiss 'naysayers and trolls' looking for an excuse to trash Doctor Who. Nobody needs to look for an excuse when its own ratings are its own condemnation.
As for the good weather being a reason for low ratings, I recall that being a popular excuse for poor ratings back in the days when I used to frequent forums which discussed such topics. I'm talking about back in the days of Ecclestone and Tennant. Good weather was used as an excuse way back then too when a TV show suffered a ratings drop.
My feeling is that if something is good people tend to watch it whatever the weather. It's a tacit admission of defeat if you're saying that you're incapable of getting people to be interested enough in your TV show or film that they'd rather just go outside and do something else.
If something is good enough then people will quite happily take a break from sunbathing in the garden and watch something on TV which has grabbed their interest, then go back outside again to catch a bit more sunshine.
If the summer truly is a matter of concern for the ratings then why did they choose to release the series during the summer? There is history to this when Doctor Who fans would discuss whether it's better or not to broadcast the show in the autumn like they used to do. Which with the new era of the show they sometimes did. Now we're expected to believe that the summer is some unexpected problem that nobody accounted for?
It's the same with films where people not only watch them during the summer they also quite happily fork over a fair chunk of money to pay to watch them. Have these article writers never heard of the term the 'Summer Blockbuster'?
If they think 2m viewers out of a population pushing towards 70m is a great result then what value does their take on the matter have at all?

When discussing TV ratings, it's crucial to wait for the actual numbers before making any judgments or videos. To determine if "Doctor Who" is maintaining similar viewership levels as the previous series, one should compare the iPlayer figures from the last series to this one, as well as the live broadcast figures from Saturdays. By analyzing these numbers, including estimating the shift from traditional TV to iPlayer, one can calculate a rough estimate of the current viewership. This method allows for a more accurate assessment of how this season's ratings compare to the last. Although there may be some promotional exaggeration, the reality of its viewership is likely similar to the previous series. While there's a bit of hype, the ratings don’t seem to be low enough to justify cancellation.
Additionally, it's important to consider "Doctor Who"'s performance in its home market, the UK, despite its international broadcasting arrangements like with Disney. These deals are significant but secondary to its core UK audience. Success domestically is crucial as international deals are generally seen as a bonus. Overall, aside from the music-themed episode, which was not to my taste, I've been satisfied with the recent episodes.

Dead in the water. But we have two seasons of this drek. Now the spun begins saying its never been so popular
I personally can't wait for the next episode....not going to watch it,but am eager to see how far the ratings will plummet lol
Doctor Who did a speed run into irrelevance. It destroyed itself faster than the other franchises.
If Doctor who has become irrelevant then Mr H will soon stop making videos about an irrelevant franchise, right?
#RIPDoctorWho
I actually thought that the 3rd episode was much better than the previous two.
Mind you, of course, they were complete horsecr*p!!!
Blame Covid I guess
Yep, they’ll be dragging out that excuse for decades to come…
They might be talking about the first ever episode. It was aired right after Kennedy was killed and everyone was glued to the news so maybe THAT was the lowest views on record. They aired it again a week later.
That was the lowest ever, yes.
Judging from the clip of next weeks episode in Unleashed pretty much being the "I'm the only gay in the village" sketch, it wont improve.
Yikes.
Really? Unbelievable haha.
Not the Doctor fortunately, but one of the locals in the country pub.
Just a shout out bro. I really appreciate what you do. Have been subscribed for a few years now. Great content and you should have many more subscribers
So angry. The new revamp of Dr. Who. Was fab . With the new doctors , new smart , sassy , funny and compassionate companions , the new iterations of the master , more back stories for not often used enemies , like the sontaran , ice warriors etc. also some of the best written dialogue ever. Has now been exterminated . I don't know if Dr who will ever recover. 😢
According to Nerdrotic this was the best episode so far, so I'm guessing that most of the viewers for the first two shows had tuned in purely out of curiosity and can no longer be bothered.
BBC: Reasons for low viewing figures. Reasons. More reasons. Reasons.
Also BBC: **sounds of copium snorting** : Nah! It'll be fine!
I've been waiting on this since your last video predicting "The Boom" would hilariously bomb. I've never watched a Dr. Who episode, but I have been hoping it would collapse on itself.
They can say what they like, and do what they like, but the fact remains: It is no longer Doctor Who.
It is Nurse What
Ah, you're one of those people who watch Nerdrotic videos to find out what to think.
@@lucasoheyze4597 No. I am older than Gary and have my own opinions. He just happens to be right.
@@LordEriolTolkien I don't think this garbage has any medical qualifications at all. Snakeoilsalesman Shooti.
Russell T Davies has said that it is moving to a more "on Demand" service to keep up with the times, so it will obviously be getting less viewership when it airs on TV as less people are watching Tv in general.
That's it being aired on Disney+. The lowest subscribed to streaming service. How many people in Britain have Disney +? Not many I'd imagine, so no, it has nothing to do with that. The iPlay would also be that, but they're not releasing those numbers for a reason.
@@debanydoombringer1385 disney+ is the 3rd most subscribed to service in the uk with 7.3 million, behind amazon and netflix.
It’s a load of old clobbers
Doctor Who and The Horror of the Audience Figures, by Terrance Dicks
When I was a kid, we were playing out during the Saturday light warm evening and then we were shouted in for our teas then settle down Infront of the telly to watch the latest Doctor Who's adventures in Space and Time. It used to be on after tea, the light nights, still plenty of time to play out. But the lure of the Doctor was still strong. Then we'd talk about it, wondering what the Doctor would do to get out of his latest predicament. No more! It's lost it's grip. Disney have taken it and removed the stories that kept everyone enthralled and replaced them with a sad overdoing of one subject. Sad really.
You know the situation is atrocious when it’s more entertaining watching these people trying to keep the show afloat than the actual show. 😂😂😂
But online, it said it was wonderful...apparently!
lol 😂 this show is exactly why no one should be paying a TV license
9:37 I think that article is talking about the first 2 episodes not the 3rd so they were correct in saying they weren't the lowest ratings ever since they were just above the threshold, but this latest one has made it the lowest ever...
There's more spin in your average MSM article these days than an entire season of Beyblade.
