It’s a bosn’ pipe. Nautically used to make pipes (announcements) onboard ships. There are 4 different hand positions to give different notes. Different combinations of hand positions over the bowl (pea) at the end will make the sound of what is announced i.e. chow (dinner), special visitor, captain departing the ship etc.

Not sure if it came up in the comments. The item in question was a BOSN pipe. It's for blowing orders, meals and basically a whistle to make announcements on military boats. Husband used them in Coast Guard

The mystery thing you found is called a boswain whistle. It is based off of the kind that was used in naval warfare in the Napoleonic era and as such is best known today through period maritime movies. They were used to relay command on board vessels, especially during high winds and storms where normal voice commands could easily be drowned out. They are still used today occasionally for sailing. the long tube is called the gun, the ball is called the buoy and the flat part is called a keel. This is a nice find and it looks like it is in good shape. I hope that this helps.

7:00 is a Bosun Pipe from the Navy. Its used to signal over the intercom system for certain reports and or times like chow.

The thing you thought was a razor blade is called a boatswains call. It was first introduced during the crusades and is used to welcome very important people aboard on a ship for example the queen. I use one of these in sea cadets. You’re welcome x

That piece you thought was a razor blade at first is actually a Boatswain’s Mate pipe from the US Navy. It’s like a whistle except it’s not a whistle. Lol. Don’t call it a whistle to any Boatswain’s Mates. I used them when I was serving on the ships I was on when I was in the Navy. But yeah, great find. Love your videos!

That silver thing you found is called a Boatswains Whistle. It was used initially on sailing ships to relay commands by pitch and length because rough seas could make it hard to hear orders by voice. Now it is mostly used for announcing the arrival and boarding of guests or high ranking folks on a naval ship as a sign of respect. I believe they call that 'Piping Aboard'.
