    Hey Dally. That fancy pipe you found there is actually called a Frac hose. I work at a frac sand mine, and we use those to pump water out of the open pit to keep it from flooding into a lake. They are made of metal so driving over them with trucks and such do not damage the hose. It is just a standard water transfer hose. It is possible that they used to to dredge out a deeper channel in that area at one point, it fell into the water, and the workers did not want to go get it. If you look at the connectors on the ends, they are actually designed to have that hose mated to another, and then another, and then another, for as long as you need them! Hope that helped you out mate. Love your videos.

    I work doing underground infrastructure an we use that particular suction pipe, flexible hose with Bauer fittings on each end. Yes it’s very heavy an hard to maneuver . It is a rather expensive hose. $600 to $1000 bucks . More than likely the sanitation department lost that from a pump station or a lift station. Anyway yes could be used to dredge gold!
    Good that you got it out of the river!!!!!
    Love you guys!!

    • @theboxxy24
      @theboxxy24 Před 6 lety

      The heavy weight is likely due to sand and other sediment from the river. But regardless, the weight of underwater equipment is usually buoyancy regulated for its intended purpose, so it's actually not too heavy at all. However I doubt this exact pipe has ever been used for extracting gold.

    That pipe is a common pipe used by most tanker trucks they tend to be purchased in sets of 5 and they clip together forming a water tight seal. So the tanker will pump liquid or suck liquid through them. Someone was probably tipping water into the river or sucking it out and the pipe came lose and fell in.

    Oh and it would be alot lighter if you got all the water out. That latch will latch to another hose or the pump.

  • @TBcinema
    @TBcinema Před 6 lety +8

    It's a pump hose for sure. They can be hooked up on the shackle end to a pump on tanker truck or a boat to move any sort of liquids. You could suck up sewage, water for fighting fires, draining portions of the river in order to construct the dam, suck up sediment and sand and pump it somewhere else to dredge deep parts of the river to make sand bars. I'm sure its full of sand still from being sedimented into the river bottom too making it wayyy heavier.

  • @danielallen4335
    @danielallen4335 Před 6 lety +8

    What you found is a section of kanaflex hose with Bauer type fittings. Used for a wide variety of things from water pumps, sewage pumps or vac trucks. Where I work we have diesel driven pump s we rent out and a lot of times we send the kanaflex hose with it because it’s easier to handle than tanker truck hose.

      It's been at the bottom for a while as he stated so no telling if he could fix it up and sell it. I'm not a plumber myself I was just helping my Grandfather so I only have basic knowledge of what it is and can be used for, but I have no doubt it could be used for other pumps if it was still in good condition. So he will have to find someone to look at it with more knowledge about them.

    Gold Pumps are usually light and flexible so that they can be moved around easily, the one you found was obviously made to stand still and not move so... Unfortunately, it's most likely some kind of sewage or water pump. I see alot of these in the UK and most of them are used to transport clean water.

    that pipe may have been used to suck water up for the fire brigade , but left there as it got stuck in the rocks

    I know what it is, it is a hose to suck up water for a sky crane helicopter to fight forest fires, that’s why it’s red, and the latch Hooks onto the chopper

    Being a scuba diver and commercial diver my self that hose you found is typically used by commercial divers for jet pumps as a suction hose and dredging I’ve used those a lot when diving it’s a lot lighter though when there’s no water in it
