I myself am in a military family as my father and mother served in the army but those medals you found were more than likely thrown in by someone with severe PTSD and they threw them in to try and forget all of the horrible things they have seen and had to do to fight for our country. My father has many medals but he hates them, he hates that he got medals for killing people. Those could possibly be the medals of a veteran who had a hard time coming back to civilian life.
Thank you for all you do!
Keep up the amazing work and the amazing videos❤

Oh, the jar is a memory jar! We used to do them when I lived in South Carolina. What you do, is you go to one of your favorite places, where you spent time with someone... Once there, you fill a jar with little strips of paper with their name on it. And then everytime you go there, it's 'supposed to' have them think of you. I've done one for a dog that died. I wanted her to think of me in doggo heaven. I know... cheesy concept, but I wanted to believe there was a heaven just for dog's. If there is, I know she's there... looking down on me from time to time. That might not be what it was, but it's something that's done in South Carolina.

Hey I’m a theology professor with a focus on occult practices and that jar looks to me like a modern Wiccan love spell. You would poke holes in a jar and fill it with sugar and herbs and pieces of paper with the name of your lover on the paper. You put it in flowing water usually fresh water. And as it sits at the bottom the water mixes the sugar and name together making the person sweet on you. That’s the basis of the ritual. If you have questions let me know!

GamingInTheGalaxy Wiccan believes in free will so the purpose of the spell is to just help attract the person they desire, it cannot control them in any way. Wiccans believe in the power of 3 so if they do something that’s considered unnatural then their version of karma will come back 3x as strong. Things like mind control and man made curses and changes in the balance of good and bad would result in bad karma x 3 to whoever performed the spell.

yeah.. this is just stooped. plus... i trust in God. and God is no pimp, that you can ask and put spells on people to bound them to you.
it is what it is. if 2 people fit and attract each other, there is no reason for witchcraft that leads to bondage.
anyway, all and all... the 2 jars are probably the work of 2 wikan lovers, their names written and stuff added, then the 2 jars on the bottom of the lake, together.
kind of sweet tho. probably some teens, lol. it's... the equivalent of graffiti like (alex+sandee) scratched on some rocks or wooden bridges.
or it may be something darker, we have... no idea.

I did some research on those jars. IF they are voodoo, it's the good kind.
They are called Honey-jars. A person writes the name of their loved one (or desired loved one) several times and put in in the glass jar. They also add some sort of sweetener. That can be almost anything, but I suspect that those jars had either plain sugar or powdered sugar dyed with pink (for love/sweet). It's all about symbolism.
The thing that really convinced me is after they say their prayers of intentions (good not bad) they are sealed in foil and placed in water which is what Jake found.
    So...it's a possibility that's what he found.
*Because he found them and opened them, it does not mean he has a curse on him or anything. I'm sure whatever intentions were placed within those jars are expired now.
Just my opinion from what I found online. Maybe it's something else, too??

In many traditions of folk magic, particularly in North America, a spell is sealed inside a jar, bottle or other container. This serves a number of purposes - the first being that it keeps the magic concentrated, and prevents it from escaping before the spell has been completed. The other nice feature of a jar or bottle spell is its portability - you can take it anywhere you like, whether it’s buried under a doorstep, tucked into a hollow tree, placed gently upon your mantle, or dropped into a port-a-john.
    Protective Witch Bottles
Perhaps the best known type of jar spell is the witch bottle. In early times, the bottle was designed as a way to protect oneself from malicious witchcraft and sorcery. In particular, around the time of Samhain, homeowners might create a witch bottle to keep evil spirits from entering the home on Hallow's Eve. The witch bottle was usually made of pottery or glass, and included sharp objects such as pins and bent nails. It typically contained urine as well, belonging to the homeowner, as a magical link to the property and family within.
    Positive Intent
What sort of container you use in a jar spell or bottle spell will partially depend on the intent of your working. For instance, if you’re hoping to do magic to facilitate healing and wellness, consider putting your spell ingredients into a medicine bottle, pill container, or apothecary style jar.
A spell done to “sweeten” someone’s attitude can be done with a jar of honey. In some forms of Hoodoo and folk magic, honey is used to sweeten someone’s feelings towards you. In one traditional spell, honey is poured into a jar or saucer on top of a slip of paper containing the person’s name. A candle is placed in the saucer, and burned until it goes out on its own. In another variation, the candle itself is dressed with honey.
    Banishing Magic
You can make a banishing spell in a jar as well. In some traditions of southern rootwork, a jar of hot sauce is used for this process. The name of the person you wish to be rid of is written on a slip of paper, and stuffed into the jar of the hottest hot sauce you can find. Shake the bottle every night for seven nights during a waning moon, and on the final day, get rid of the bottle so the person will “hot-foot it” out of your life. Some people choose to throw the jar into running water, but if you’re concerned about polluting the ocean or river, consider adding it into an existing landfill or dropping it into a port-o-john.
In some forms of folk magic, vinegar in a jar or bottle is used to make things go bad. A well-known hex involves placing numerous magical links to the person you want to curse into a jar, filling it with vinegar, and then performing a variety of other actions on the jar, from shaking it to smashing it, depending on the spell in use.
    Money Magic
A money jar spell can be done to bring wealth your way - in some traditions nine pennies are used, in others it may be various other coins, and placed in a jar or bottle. In some cases, the jar may be painted green or gold, and then put someplace where it can be seen each day. Eventually, according to tradition, money will start coming towards you.
Keep in mind that spell jars can be plain and simple, or you can decorate them to look pretty. The nice thing about a decorative, attractive jar is that you can leave them anywhere you like, and no one will even realize that magic is afoot.

@@xzerox200922 it's not black magic ffs lol it's nothing worst than a curse jar which, as i said, does nothing more than cut ties with you and the person you don't want in your life. to me it looks more like a jar to forget a person/people more than anything, which is harmless. you clearly have a very surface level knowledge of witchcraft... sure you've "looked at" black magic but as a witch, listen to witches when we tell you about our culture and practices lmao

The jar was full of a person's ashes with the name of the person written inside. It was thrown into the river because it is said to relieve stress and/or banish demons. the rocks were inside to weigh the jar to the bottom of the river so they wouldn't be retrieved. The medals likely belonged to the person of the ashes.

Did some research and the jar is a form of witchcraft it is used for "Goals" in a sense. Jar colors vary from red for "Love" and Green for "money/wealth" They can also contain items for things such as those names were probably a love interest that someone had a goal for to obtain their heart. Kinda like how we throw money in a fountain to make a wish, except this process is a bit more sinister.

the jars are a part of witchcraft, called: a jar spell.. the jar spell is a beginnersspell that can make a lot of stuff happen if it has a singular purpose. for instance, it can protect someone from a bully, or it can make someone fall in love with you. (for what is believed ofcourse) the spell differentiates on the items you put inside... the name is for the person you want to cast the spell on... the stones/herbs(cuz that also gets put in there) are for the intent you want to create. most of the time the jar will get burried. but there are 2 options for which it needs to be hidden underwater. 1. for using it to banish or exorcise any entities (running natural watersources will purify them and protect you from their return) 2. when it has succesfully removed a curse, illness, or bad habit etc... hope this information was helpful ^^

"The second type of jar spell is the souring jar which is used to sour someone’s life, break up couples, hot foot an opponent, silencing a gossiper, or basically wreak havoc on some poor sap. The technique is the same but the ingredients, the disposal, and you will shake this type of jar daily or any time right before a new candle is lit on it. Common ingredients are vinegar, crossing ingredients, hot foot ingredients, break up ingredients, etc. The disposal of the bottle itself is either buried in a cemetery, thrown in a river, or taken to the targets home where they will walk over it. Some workers will place it in a crossroads as well, but I prefer the cemetery or river. The cemetery is symbolic of a deadening, permanently ending the situation at hand, and the river is common to use when driving someone out of your life."

That pink stuff you found was part of a 'Water Shrine' someone writes the name of their love on paper as many times as they feel then throw it in the water hoping if there love will soon love them, it's great that you found two but I'd advise you leaving them in the water for if that person catches you they might go Yandere and think you're trying to stop them from having love... I'm not saying you shouldn't pick it up and that but I've had some friends do 'Water Shrines' and go really mad when they see someone cleaning out the river and is holding their 'Shrine' I hope this advice is helpful I did a bit of googling and the description is VERY closely linked to that jar

Not exactly sure if this is correct in the jars situation, but when we lose a family member we fill a jar with coloured sand (dead members favorite colour) and write their names on strips of paper. With each paper is an item we wish to send with them to the afterlife. We then weight it down with painted rocks and toss it into a river.

great vid but tbh I'd leave the medals
those were probably a loved one of a deceased soldier throwing them into the river. (and recently too going by their condition) judging by how close they were to each other they were all thrown in at the same time.
out of respect I'd leave them.
(maybe that's not the case but it seems highly likely)
I did a little digging on google regarding the jars and came up with this
    "Banishing Magic
A well-known hex involves placing numerous magical links to the person you want to curse into a jar, filling it with vinegar, and then performing a variety of other actions on the jar, from shaking it to smashing it, depending on the spell in use."
both obviously had some kinda red liquid in them (and not just water)

The Jar containing paper with a name on almost certainly is not voodoo, But it was part of a religious event. The Jar would have contained human ashes which is why it also has holes in the top so that the ashes could scatter themselves in the water over time. A lot of people who're cremated wish to have their remains scattered in their favorite places, so the name on the notes was probably local to the area when they were alive.

The jar with the paper... you write your sins on the paper, put it in a jar and weight it down so it goes down to the bottom of the sea or river... people do this when they are in a bad situation or when they want to just end themselves... this should help them a little but just if they believe

As for the metals i don't know that may have been something about how someone regreted being in the war or someone who disliked someone who served in the war and threw them in.I really dont know.
