When there's only clockwise turns or straights it's always better to make the sequence go counter clockwise and vice versa because then the direction the lanes are draining in is always away from where the next cars are coming from. If the sequence goes the same direction as the turns, the lanes getting green will always be blocked by the last car leaving the crossing. That way you could even have overlapping turns, as in, the next turning lane could go one step before the last one stops, so there's less down time. The straights can't do that though because they will come in too early before the turner can leave the crossing. Keep in mind that this only works in a world where people don't jump red.

Supporting solo devs or small team devs is important. Many times they start an amazing idea but get wiped by the bigger cooperations because they just throw manpower and hours against an idea and make something half but get higher rating because its a company we all know.
Matt, the reason why giga's score isnt showing, its because you gave up and used the dev's option
and that failed as well cause of an Issue with AMD and Intel CPUs calculating differently

I think you almost had it early where cars went head on. If you jogged the lanes to the side with the spare space, could have had the head ons going at the same time I reckon.
Try adding a square on the inside of corners where you can so the cars can cut the corners more
it almost scares me that people like this made our motorways

My theory is the engineers like to create traffic, just so they can have fun making simulations. Not actually implement a solution, just feed real world traffic into the simulation. Sadism

This man needs to learn that counter clockwise traffic lights are much more efficient for left hand traffic in this case. Because it adds the new traffic behind the traffic already on the junction instead of smack in the middle of it. Same with the roundabouts.
The lights going clockwise or counter-clockwise does matter.
If you have traffic lights for straight and right, then as these cars are moving, they are blocking the next road clockwise the most because that is where they are going.
If the lights change to the clockwise position, they need to wait for the intersection to clear before they go.
However, those one road counter-clockwise have a clear path already. They don't need to wait for anyone.
They need to travel into the intersection, crossing one lane of traffic before they meet other vehicles.
So yes, having the lights go counter-clockwise around works better than going clockwise as there is less waiting.
Nandos - give yellow and green dedicated right turns outside of roundabout.

You should maybe put the lights a square back instead of right on the turn, so there is more time to clear the road so it doesn’t build up.

For the hamburger roundabout, I'm curious as to how Matt's road arrangement would work with traffic lights. I think it might beat the dev by even more.
I thought you didn't complete Giga because of a glitch? The dev solution didn't work either because of CPU speed I think they said.
The cars follow no regular traffic laws/rules. Very similar to real life. Good game.

Nice vid! I think the intervals are per 2 seconds, i could be wrong tho. (every tile on the roundabout)

To improve the traffic light timings you could add a sensor at the back of the queue to automate the timings.
Suggestion, when you do your thumbnail art for the videos, instead of Noob for the simple, inefficient solutions you could say Architect. 😁

For the cross the top lane in the 3 times 1 section timers you had one of them one off, which is probably the main reason you got less than dev

On the cross you could’ve had the opposing straight aheads on at the same time and if you had moved the lights back one block I think you could’ve pulled off having opposite turns on at the same time as well

Hey Matt, just so you know, the segments of traffic lights are actually 2 seconds each, not 1
That nandos has more potential... Yellow from left can get own line to not go all around the roundabout... 😂
I got over 14k on Tangle by taking the yellows up top between the green out and blue in, then cutting across the blues when the two are going up from the bottom

Thats not how traffic lights are done, you have room for a free left(yay you figured that out) and can start the right with an offset from the otherside to get more throughput.

You should be adding additional turn lanes for the cars that are just making a left. That way the other cars that are going straight or a different direction can get passed them before the main intersection.

I wish all cross roads and t-junctions in the UK had left turn only lanes. Would reduce waiting time a lot for turning left. Combining straight with left turn is stupid.

13:16 Wouldn't you have a U-turn on the left so the guys coming from the left and going off on the left and avoid the squareabout entirely.
I'd like to see Matt have only red lights just to see if any car will run the light.
Actually that is not even a squarabout, if anything it would be a rectanglabout or something like that, since it is 12*9 cells, a squarabout would need even sides

This peaks my interest in engineering, but I can’t get the game 💀
For the “Cross” level, I think it might be better if there is a all-red phase between each green phase, like 1-2 green for north, 3 all-red, 4-5 green for east, 6 all-red, 7-8 green for south, 9 all-red, 10-11 green for west, 12 all-red. That way the all-red phases provide time for the car to leave the junction before starting the next green phase, and that's how traffic lights work in some real-life junctions, especially for the wide one.🤨
the longer dedicated lanes don't help because people don't bother to use it in this game
why no slip roads on the hamburger? you could´ve made it so yellows that spawned on the left instantly go right so they don´t block up the roundabout, same with greens on the right...
