    Heya, developer of the game here! Unfortunately the game has some inconsistencies between amd/intel processors at the moment, I swear my solution for Giga worked on my system!
    I'm doing my best to get this fixed or at least make the level not as tempermental but I am just 1 person working on this in my spare time so please be understanding.
    As always, a huge thanks to RCE. Thanks to his coverage I'll be able to get GridRoad out on steam early access and potentially make a career of this.

    Put the traffic lights one step back so it's not exactly at the corner of the roundabout. Gives room for some of those cars that overshoot the light.

    • @WilliumBobCole
      @WilliumBobCole Před 7 měsíci +67

      You can't put an arrow directly in front of another arrow. You need to place an arrow to also place lights, and unfortunately the entrance roads already come with an arrow of their own, too close to make this a viable solution for this level. Nice idea though, I hadn't yet noticed that cars were overshooting the lights causing other lanes to slow, it probably will be handy to know this in other levels
      edit: it occurs you might be talking about the giga-roundabout, in which case I think your idea might work, if you took one lane from the outside of the roundabout and either removed it, or replaced it with an extra inner lane

    On the squareabout you should have the traffic lights "spin" in the opposite direction of the roundabout, so cars don't merge on the same lane at the same time, and instead they go in behind one another. So for example from 14:14 to 14:54 instead of counting down from 1 to 4 you should count down from 4 to 1, like you did it at 17:11.

  • @stevenwolfe591
    @stevenwolfe591 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Older video, I know, but two considerations for you anyways:
    1. The longest journey a car has to make (going right when the roundabout is clockwise) is about 3 times as long, and ideally, everyone wanting to go on the round about yields (forcibly with traffic lights). Thus, I almost think 4 seconds on (1 for each input on a side), 2 seconds all red. This would give 3 seconds for every car to make their journey at least. (With maybe the addition you had of the 5th and 6th lanes.)
    2. To stop that death trap of cutting off an input, the outer ring should really be an off lane that begins after a small gap between it and the traffic lights.
    Hopefully I conveyed that well! Makes me want to get the game and try these ideas myself.

Debes poner 1 o 2 carriles, ya que de esta forma tardan más en llegar pero lo hacen de manera continuada y no se saturan las salidas.

    Slip lanes ( filter Lines in the U.K.) before the square about. One between each parallel set of roads. one around the corner near the high score box. An exit lane on the outside for blue cars will get them off of the square about sooner. Near the controls and giga title, you can move the entrance over three to the right I don't know if this will help. I have tried none of this I am just an armchair designer.

    What if i told you this is a railroad solution and the actual way to do this is lock 2 outside lanes to the outside instead of only 1 locked, and force the upper lane of the 2 locked to merge onto the bottom AFTER the bottom one merges to the first drop off which forces more cars to use the inner lanes towards the middle while 2 of your lanes are drop off, 5 of them are merging; which the merging was fine as long as the cars could get to each peice. Also you could just put 1 of 12 ticks red light in inner lanes just after each merge to allow for oncoming traffic.

  • @MarisaClardy
    @MarisaClardy Před 7 měsíci +1

    Total guess as to a way you can beat Giga, is you could cut out some road right where the merge is happening, forcing oncoming traffic to maintain outer lanes until just after the turn onto the roundabout. That might *might* prevent crashes right at the exit of the lights

    On the right, ya have a gray flag. Make another road so the grey cars doesn't have to enter the roundabout.
    Ya are making EVERY CAR to enter the roundabout but not every car has too. Having that one car not entering the roundabout can really speed up the roundabout. A Roundabout "bypass lane."

  • @lucasgonzales4260
    @lucasgonzales4260 Před 7 měsíci

    I have a solution I use in Cities Skylines for very busy multi-lane roundabouts; I wonder how it'd work here.
    Basically, All the roundabout junctions are lighted. All lights on all junctions inside the roundabout are green EXCEPT for 1, which is red. For that one red light, the arm is green to allow cars in. On each phase, the next light going COUNTER to the flow of traffic goes red for the roundabout and green for the arm, the rest of the arms are red and the rest of the roundabout is green.
    IOW, the roundabout always only lets one arm on at once. The roundabout is always free-flowing except for the arm which is currently green.

    If you made the two outer lanes both turn lanes, the very outer lane should only be used by cars that are entering and turning on the first exit.
    I would also make the roundabout smaller like you had in the beginning and give cars that are exiting on the first exit a separate road so they never have to enter the roundabout

    I cant help but notice that on each side there is a car that is taking the next exit. Seems to me there is room for bypassing the roundabout. Example on the bottom red cars come up on the right and exit on the left and you could just connect the 2.

    The squareabout could use some sliproads as well ;) But all good for those cars that immidiately want the next exit.
    I btw do not understand why with the merger you let the top 2 roads go first :P And than have the bottom 2 roads. The top roads will drive into the incoming bottom roads. If you have bottom go first the cars are way further gone. Maybe only the left bottom road can give some carnage :P But more traffic is gone for the top roads to them turn in.

    Every off ramp should have a dedicated turning lane. You only did it for the second one on each side of the square-a-bout, but the first had a staright and turn arrow.

    You should put dedicated lanes that don't join the square-about, kinda like a u-turn or texas-turn-around.

    I think for the giga, should try pattern that the outer ring should be left only, middle right should be left and forward, and inner ring to be forward only.

    I'm surprised that at not a single challenge you instantly made a seperate road going from a start, DIRECTLY to the appropriate flag, preventing some cars from ever even entering the roundabout in the first place.

    The problem is that the cars that need to exit right after the turn take the leftmost lane too soon. If you could somehow convince them to be in the second leftmost lane during the turn it will fix the collision. I think allowing the second lane to go straight on the turn should work (?)

    Add a second lane to the exits. That will hopefully allow more cars out of the area.

    For merger, you shouldn't need the top arms that are closest to the exit for the single color to have a traffic light at all? It should basically just work.

    Some cars of the incoming left lane want to go to the first exit. Connect these two lanes with an extra arm

    Surprised Matt didn’t try the spiral style roundabout layout, or putting the lights one square back so traffic waiting at the lights didn’t get stuck part way into a lane and block traffic on the roundabout.

    You may notice there were cars literally going the wrong way on roads to bypass traffic lights, so you literally have to design roads with "what if half of the drivers ignore traffic laws?" In mind

    On Giga, perhaps a slip road just before the lights on the arms for cars that are going around the corner? Ie. the grey cars.

    I solved the last level by forcing all outer lanes to turn no matter what. A similar solution to you but forcing the turn out which caused less mess or confusion to the AI drivers
