    THANK YOU!!!! I’m relatively new to woodworking as a DIYer and haven’t used a band saw in about 40 years (and that thing was a monster!). I bought my Ryobi 9” band saw and tried to follow the owners manual. Sometimes it’s best to RTFM, but in this case is was definitely not. I was hoping there’d be a video on how to assemble and adjust this machine, and you imagine my relief you made one. I’m also glad to see you were stumped on a couple of things I was, so that was encouraging to know I’m on the right track. I can’t wait to put mine together and get working. Thank you for making this video!

    I just bought this saw and found your video while looking for set up instructions. The instructions that come with the saw are absolutely horrible. There isn’t even a diagram telling you what is what. I basically had to guess at everything. I went through the exact same process you did and and prayed I didn’t kill myself when I turned it on for the first time. Thank you for confirming my first impressions.

    all the 9" Bandsaws are made i think by the same company just with different stickers. even motor is the same i have the Harbour Freight one. so if you are looking for the 9" for small jobs get the cheapest of them. also you can extend the cut height and only costs you an extra $30. So worth it even more now. just extended mine to a cut depth of 12 and 3/4".

    Might I ask a question Sean : I have one of these Ryobi bandsaw that I bought last year & it has worked pretty well for me. BUT I have run into a problem with the vertical blade where have difficulty getting the blade guide to move up and down when I change thickness of wood I am cutting. It seems like it is sawdust jamming up the plastic gears, but maybe isn’t something else.
    Might you or some else reading this post have suggestions to over coming this unfortunate problem?
    Thanks in advance for any advise you might be willing to provide.

    I enjoyed the straight forward but clear commentary and well paced DIY set up. I have just thrown out a competitor 9" bandsaw (2 years old, purchased used but could not correct blade drift). At end of day cheaper to buy new one than deal with service repair cost plus parts. I have 4 other Ryobi hand tools in my shop and found them to be reliable and dependable. So, with that in mind BUT MORESO because of this video I am buying a Ryobi bandsaw this week.

      @@SeanDoesDIY I purchased a Master craft 9" used in April. Despite constant effort to ensure blade drift/wobble was corrected could not get the blade tension to hold or wheel position adjustment to effectively correct. Last weekend part of the blade guide assembly came apart. Believe it or not, the hourly rate to service is$135 and minimum shoptime available is1.5 hours plus materials. But contactiing Mastercraft customer service to order blade guide kit was hopeless.. I have a fully outfitted woodshop and use my tools everyday creating wood items that I sell. The poor quality of the Mastercraft saw AND lack of effective customer service has now soured me on that brand. My overall with both Dewalt and Ryobi hand tools to date has been excellant. After watching your video I ordered the 9" Ryobi bandsaw on my Home Depot account. It is only $150, brand new.

      I've used them in my shop class mostly for cutting wood on perfect angles quickly and easily
      Let's say your making a sign and you wanna cut one peice of wood into many letters
      You would use a bandsaw to cut out the letters

  • @spookymufu

    I have this same saw but got it at harbor freight (same saw but a little cheaper) and I really like it. I put on a 3/8 blade because the 1/4 it comes with deflects too much but that could just be a cheap blade

    • @SeanDoesDIY
      @SeanDoesDIY  Před 2 lety

    • @spookymufu
      @spookymufu Před 2 lety

      @@SeanDoesDIY a lot of harbor freight tools share design with other companies like WEN, Ryobi, Ridgid, etc. I had bad deflection when trying to resaw, so got me a 1/2 blade for that and it works great for smaller lumber.

      It’s probably too fast to be a good metal bandsaw. It’s really designed for wood. You don’t have any speed control with it.
      Best cheap option for mild steel is probably a portaband set up semi-permanently with a table.
