This was the best video I"ve seen yet on this saw. (Iwish it was cheaper in Canada; goes for $195.00 here at Home Depot. I appreciated you demonstrating with the 2X4 and 4X4. It was good to see one in action. I just returned one of these to the store; the reason being the table was in terrible shape, with gouges and deep scratches and some that looked like corrosion near the blade hole. I'm thinking about whether I should try again. But you educated me on what the capabilities of this saw really are,; good job. I'll maybe reconsider this purchase. I'd like to think that Ryobi has a handle on its quality control, with regard to the condition of the parts; that's the main issue for me right now.
This little band saw has turned out to be the best tool purchase I've ever made czcams.com/users/postUgkx5ZrqmYO2uJq_nuU8TopyWxVzn8vqmPUL Once doing the set-up as per the included suggestions, this table top tool has been my go-to saw ever since (8 months as of this review). There are few things I wouldn't attempt with this saw. It takes up much less space than my table saw yet delivers twice as much punch. I've used it to create slices of wood no thicker than an 1/16th of inch by using the POWERTEC BS900RF Rip Fence. For small shop projects this tool can't be beat.
I have one of these too But the ON switch I converted it with a Foot Paddle Switch, just like what you'll see in the Singer Electric Sewing machine 😜 yeah I did that on purpose for safety reasons. If anything goes wrong I can just release my foot off the paddle and the band saw machine will automatically turned off.
@@livefreeandtoolon yeah, after I did that I have full control of my band saw machine. And I also got it all figured out how to get it on variable speed with doing some slight modifications. I have full control. And it turns out to be like a sewing machine 😜😆 yeah but I love it especially Ryobi it's cheap but it works fine
Man that's a good idea! 💡 Hell! I'm gonna try that thing!!! Why not!!! @@craftsmantrucker6867 You know they sell extension cords with footswitch already installed on the cord...Less hassle than trying to fiddle with the switch on the bandsaw, and also less dangerous...
So I just bought a band saw and I’m waiting for it to arrive. I watched your video and another video which was 25 min and made setting up a band saw look extremely difficult. Do they come mostly ready? Your video was way more interesting btw. Thx.
Yeah, I noticed on my Ryobi bandsaw that the knob that controls the depth of cut will spin tightly, but the gear that it’s supposed to be turning, will not actually engage the slot, or it might be that the slot has no play on it, and need some WD-40.
Nice job! New sub. I'm struggling whether to buy this one or the Harbor Freight one for $50 less. I've been told they're the same machine but I can't find a good review like yours. Thanks.
I have to admit I'm scared to buy anything from these guys now. I bought a wood router and immediately taking it out of the box I could see the on/off switch was even garbage and poor quality. Using the tool was even worse. I bought a Makita one and love it. Now it sits there cuz I'm too lazy to put it on Kijiji. I'm very nervous of this company. thank you for this review and maybe I'll take another chance.
tell me, would you use this band saw to cut a 1.5 inch thick block of epoxy resin that is filled with marbles? ( I am a novice guitar builder, and i have some crazy ideas on guitar builds)
@@spartanguitarist6579 The blade is the key. I am not sure what would cut through marbles, which, I’m sure you know, are made of glass not marble. Carbide tipped? Diamond? The bandsaw is not horrible-it’s just not very good.

I have this saw and honestly dont like it, it cant cut straight very well and imo the balde needs to be tighter but it wont adjust any further. I thinks its kind of a piece of junk it bogs down easily too
I don’t know about “like butter”, you could definitely hear the motor and blade bog down on both the 2x4 and 4x4. Also the edge on your circle was pretty rough. Not sure what the factory blade specs are, but that cut was anything but smooth. It’s fine for a $175 saw, but let’s be real. It does NOT cut like butter.
Yes they do, he just did it, and it cut really well. I've never heard of any "law" which forbids such a thing. What's your problem, are you one of those woodwork snobs?

I dont know if you've mentioned it, but It doesn't come with a fence for long cuts! You have to make one for it.
Thats ryobi for you 😊
Great Video...just what I needed!
Thanks for the video. I am planning to buy this.
Great review, thank you!

ive only got 3...lol and yes not allowed in my shop also...

Did you ever have any problems with this saw? Mine out of the box worked ok. Have you changed the blade, if so, what kind are best?
Thanks for inadvertently letting us know there is a blade included with the package.

Will this handle cutting a 4x4 piece of lumber? Even harder question, can it resaw a full length 2x4 or even 4x4 down its 96” length?

Are The Blades Simple To Replace?
Can you put different blades into the machine for Finer cuts ?
May I ask you if this bandsaw could cut ebony wood?
That depends on the blade, you’ll need a good one
My Ryobi band saw just lost its first blade, and I wonder if it's even worth the $15 to replace it.

Can this machine cut aluminum tubes like intercooler pipes
With the right blade I dont see why not, I cut wood tougher than aluminum tubing.

For a C note, new @ DTO ....
How does it handle steel?
You’ve got to have the right blade and go slowly
Man the things I could do with something like this
Is this able to cut metal well?
It’s better to use a metal cutting machine
The rpm on a band saw is to fast.
i would use a plasma cutter if i were you
I use mine to cut aluminum pieces all the time, just make sure you use the right band for it, can’t be a spaced out teeth
Use a bi metal blade
Impossible to get the table flat and level. Returned.
That's not an induction motor? It's brushed?
I think he said brushed...
@@geraldlamothe6091 You can bet it's brushless. Induction motor.

Can this cut steel?
I don't think so coz u need blade for steel. It's difference teeth.
The warst shit I ever have, I never can cut anything straight. I spend many times to adjust but doesn't help
Can it cut frozen meat with bones?
will it cut thin metal???????
Just needs a bi metal blade

Cuts eva foam like butter
how do you think this saw would cut through hardened epoxy?
It didn’t cut the 4x4 like butter. Actually it seemed like it slightly struggled with it.
Plus the editing of the circle being cut was proof that the saw struggles.
aluminum tables suck
Run forest run ! ...the biggest mistake ever . Pure junk .
I've had one for 5 years. It's junk for any real woodworking. If you want a good band saw for woodworking, this is NOT the saw you want.
