Lake District has a lot more to offer than a 1-day trip but if you only have 1 day to spend in Lake district then this is a brilliant itinerary to consider. P.s. all weather dependant!! First Stop - Bowness-on-Windermere - Book Lake District Lake Cruise online in advance especially during peak periods. Different boat types/activities are available. Car park Address (one of the many!): 1 Glebe Rd, Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere LA23 3HE. (Lunch) Restaurant name: Coin Casino, Glebe Rd, Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere LA23 3HQ Second stop - Wray Castle - A National Trust owned Gothic Revival castle on the shores of Lake Windermere with turrets, towers, informal grounds, and miles of lakeshore paths. Address: Low Wray, Ambleside LA22 0JA. Final Stop - Beautiful Rydal cave - Hidden man-made cave on the site of a former slate quarry, with stepping stones leading to a dry interior. Such a magical location. You can park your car at Pelter Bridge Car Park, Ambleside LA22 9LR, UK and it’s a 20-minute walk towards the Rydal Cave (there is a smaller cave just below so keep walking to the top of the hill). Route not for push-chairs / wheelchair.
