The corded phone thing killed me. I'm old enough that I lived most of my life without a cell phone. The thing that really kills me is that we still use the szme terminology, and kids don't even know why...we "dial" a phone, and when you're done, you "hang up". Those kids now know why we say that.
Nah. That last one was one of the touch tone phones that had the buttons arranged in a circle. To truly learn the origin of "dialing" a phone they'd have to have their minds properly blown by an actual rotary phone.
You’re not alone. I remember when you had to get the operator to dial outside of your prefix , or make a telegram to be delivered you had to call before 10pm local time. Geez I feel like a dinosaur 🦖

Big console sitting on the floor, a record player, and dial phone sitting on the table next to the kitchen. The baby (now 9) had no clue what the hell it was until Christmas last year when i had her dial her moms phone because of no reception out in the countryside where she lives!

To explain the anime with the tentacle and the mom. I believe it has a dumb name like "trapped in another world with my mom" or something (I watched a bunch of isekai several years ago and this was one) and the kid entered the video game world because he enjoyed the game and his overbearing mom also joined to spend more time with him. She ended up lucking into the most powerful stats and he was just average. So he tries to complete the game with his skill but his mom keeps one hit killing everything and has perfect luck at finding stuff so he can't enjoy the challenge of the game and she is getting a reputation for being amazing. Typical isekai stuff leads to him developing a harem and the mom wants in on the action because no one loves her son more then her. Weird, but only by western standards. Anime gets much weirder

11 years ago my daughter at 9 discovered her grandmas phone book and it blew her mind she became totally infatuated with it. spent 2 weeks looking up everyone she knew and called to tell them taht she found their name and numbersin the book

The French aristocratic son who built it was cut off from his wealth by his parents because he married a poor woman here. Which cause him to have to sell it 1 year after construction was complete. It’s called an Incinolet, you place a specialized paper sheet over the bowl, do your business, and when you done pull the handle to open it up and the paper and it’s contents get torched. Actually a really effective product all you need to do is clear out the ash tray every once in a while.

those punching machines are just great fun, i remember being in a fair with some friends and seeing one of this, ok first go, almost 900, awesome, we get to the second round of doing it and i completely miss the ball and hit the machine, least to say i never went from laughing to almost crying so fast in my life, i completely messed my hand but i still remember it fondly

punching the metal frame right behind it and broke his hand, ended up having to do surgery to fix his bones and reposition them a few months later.

I've never seen a cremation toilet outside of a remote campsite. usually they install them at campgrounds with low water lines, so the outhouse won't contaminate the well water. Funny story, a family friend had one installed at the picnic area by his remote cabin. There was a gas leak once. When he "flushed" the toilet, the flames ignited the leak and the outhouse exploded. He came walking out with burned waste all over his singed clothing and hair smoking. :)

Peroxide is king when it comes to stains. If the cat pukes on the carped, use peroxide. If you drop a knife on your foot and you bleed all over the carpet, use peroxide. Fun Fact: It also warms up when it comes in contact with blood.
The knife thing did happen. I dropped a Leatherman blade open and straight on the top of my foot. Luckly my tendon was there to stop it from going in any further. It hurt for weeks. And there was blood trail from the computer room all the way to the bathroom. I mean full on trail.

17:40 Yes hydrogen peroxide removes stains. It’s the main ingredient in OxyClean. You actually aren’t supposed to use it on cuts. Keep a bottle and add some of it to your wash when doing laundry it’ll help get stains out easily.

On the shock at seeing phones -- in the early 2000s my parents took a couple of their grandkids to a town near where I grew up, a town that at least used to be the hub for farmers selling tobacco. One of the grandkids saw an ash tray for the first time in their life, and asked what it was.
