Okay, here is my entre rewatching of dbza because i saw one comment of a dbza quote that made me laugh
Should’ve just said that DBS takes place within a 10 year gap, before the final episodes of DBZ lol I think he would’ve understood easily.
I could’ve, but I have a nasty habit of over explaining things. If I would’ve said that, I’m sure I would’ve felt the need to explain why it’s possibly in a 10 year gap with an episode of DBZ dangling at the end there, instead of just starting right where DBZ ended.
Also, and this is just my personal opinion, the epilogue of DBZ is in “retcon limbo”. I’m just waiting to see where DBSuper ends up, and if it passes over DBZ’s ending.

He is completely forgotten and he had the MOST potential. The Cell Saga seemed like Goku was understanding his son would Surpass him and lets him get the win. Also, just remember this, Super technically is not written by Toriyama, but Toyotaro. Toriyama did write the Broly movie plot for it, but the rest of it is Toyotaro’s work. Toriyama might bring up a few points for it, but the majority is Toyotaro’s.
That’s why Goku seems to have declined in intelligence outside of battle from Z to Super, because the original author isn’t writing him anymore.
So Gohan not being included as much might be a personal preference of Toyotaro’s. So we can’t blame Toriyama. Japan chose to keep Goku as the main protag in Z after Cell which forced him to change back over to Goku unlike what he originally planned

Fun fact super actually takes place in the ten year jump between when buu was defeated and when goku and vegeta found uub in the tenkaiichi budokai... where GT (non cannon now) came in was AFTER that point where uub was found in that tournament.. so if both GT and super were cannon the order would have been dragon ball, dragon ball z, dragon ball GT, dragon ball super... since GT is not a part any more, it’s dragon ball, dragon ball z (after buu), dragon ball super, then sometime in the future uub becomes part of the main story when they find each other at the tournament.

Frick one of the not most obvious changes from this movie and the original is that in the original broly is the same age as kakarot, but in this movie broly is the same age as Vegeta
I get the dub thing. A lot of people get exposed to DB early with the dub and they get used to it. When I was a kid, DBZ was on the TV and it was stuck in the never ending cycle of reruns. It would get to the end of snake way and then suddenly, back to Raditz. Fucking infuriating. Then later it did the same thing with the Namek Saga and Recoome. After that happened a few times, my brother and I went and rented some videos to get through Freeza and the appearance of Trunks. But that was all you could get in the US. So, we went online and ordered the entire remainder of the series through a fansubber. It was a large box with like 90 VHS tapes. Some of them were really bad quality, but it was the whole damn series. My friends came over and we watched until we passed out. All through the Android and Cell Saga. I ended up watching Buu by myself after getting some sleep and lent them to my friends later. After that experience, the sub voices just were normal for me. And I think Goku's voice is just better suited to his personality in Japanese. He's a total ditz and it matches perfectly.
I prefer dub, for dbz at least, goku in dbz is not at all like goku in dbs, so sub for dbs, dub for dbz

I feel like if you are going to start watching Dragon Ball Super you are going to enjoy it SOOO much more if you start from ATLEAST Dragon Ball Z. I personally never watched Dragon Ball and still I have enjoyed the series a lot(I only realized there was a series before DBZ as I got older since I stumbled upon DBZ Kai on tv at like 11 or something)

13:31 GT was considered non cannon, meaning there is once again no proof that keeping your tail actually made you stronger, as SSJ4 and the tails tie to battle power was made obsolete info. BUT! One of Broly's first forms is called "Wrathful" and was delivered to us as the "power of oozaru" while staying in base form, essentially replacing SSJ4 but it seems to only be a Legendary Super Sayian thing.

6:00 Friezas father decided to stay in his “2nd form” which is the same as friezas 2nd form. Therefore technically speaking King Cold would be able to also transform into his final form.
The theme for the Frieza race is to start small and slowy get bigger and scarier but when he starts transforming to his final form it’s not what people would expect therefore people underestimating his final form because they expected a much scarier and bigger form as the previous🙏🏼😁
(I say 2nd form because I think of his 1st form as ALSO his base form)
If Cold had a final form he would had tried it against Trunks before dying. He probably didn't. Forms in the frieza race other than the original one, are not genetic. They are self made, frieza makes his own forms out of sheer will.

Dragon Ball Z and Super suffer from very bad writing and the tv series has bad-mediocre animation and action scenes so there's nothing good left to like. if you think that Dragon Ball Z and Super tv series have good animation and action scenes your standards are very low. watch Jujutsu Kaisen or Fate series to see what good animation and action look like. the anime needs to be given to a studio that makes good animation and action scenes to at least make people watch it for good fight scenes.
Super had great hidden through line story. From hints of Goku approaching Ultra Instinct seen before the tournament is even mentioned to more Vegeta character development.
there was no such thing in DBS. go watch/rewatch One Punch Man season 1 that was released the same year as DBS series and imagine if DB series/manga was even half as good as that. Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works sason 2 is a tv series that was also released in the same year as DBS and the animation quality is at least equal with this movie. if you watch even 1 action scene you will say "why couldn't DBS series be as good as this?"
