      It's obvious by the condition of the corpse that a lot of time passes in between the death of each colossus. It's quite possible that time stops for everything in the Forbidden Lands except the colossi. That could explain why the sun never changes it's position & also why only the corpse of the colossi seem to age, but Wander, Agro, & Mono don't show any signs aging.

    There is no game that can make you root for the villain quite like SotC.
    We all know Wander is, at the very least, a neutral character with no moral qualms against releasing ancient danger into the world, yet we root for him. And in the same breath, it obliges us realize the consequences of his actions, i.e. the sad song that accompanies each of the Colossus' defeat or Wander's own body twisting into Dormin.
    I believe that is better illustrated in the last Colossus fight: when Wander reaches up to it's hands, it won't be initially hostile and will even stare at Wander with curiosity. Meanwhile, Wander's disfigured form is hellbent on killing it.
    This game will forever be a classic.

    This doesn’t feel just sad to me- I mean, yes it’s very sad, but that’s not the only thing I really feel. It feels like a monument, a contribution to the concept of time and moving on. Only the building parts of them remain visible, as if their living parts had already been freed, their souls released. What’s been done has been done, and there’s no changing that, but there’s no use in dwelling on it. Nature has accepted them back after their tortured and cursed existence had ended. This was their fate in the end, but it’s not necessarily a bad one. I didn’t explain it well, did I? Eh, I tried.

      I am of the opinion that if we think about it literally-that a great deal of time has passed-it doesn't make sense. Rather, I believe that it's more a symbolic message to those who go to look/ mourn the colossi.
      Agro and Wander do not age, nor does Mono decompose (though Dormin could be preserving her)... and also NOTHING else about the world changes but the colossi.
      So I don't think anything about time is what's happening. I think it's telling us that no matter what happens, life and nature will overcome and thrive.

    It never occurred to me to take the Colossi being buried as huge amounts of time passing. I figured it was the land trying to give them a proper burial. Even tho they are trying to kill Wander, they only do so because he attacked them and they need to keep Dormin's soul apart. They're technically the good guys. And in a world of gods, demons, lethal prophesies and regions where nature is both all encompassing and yet minimal, it's not a stretch to think the land itself can have a will.

    I’ve always been curious how the colossi were made. I understand that part of it is magic of some sort, with the god’s power. But, what about the actual assembly of them? Were they crafted in sort of facility? Where the designers used tools to apply the intricate pattern of the stone each one had on their bodies. Or, were they bred from an ancient form of alchemy? Where they combine both stone and living tissue to create the colossi. And the god’s power was the source of their activation? 🧐🧐🧐

      I think the build up of rock and debris growing around their body is to show to the player that every time you defeat a colossus, a LONG period time has passed, months probably (would say years but that seems a bit far fetched) and it questions you on what happens when you are knocked out and mysteriously transported back to Dorman’s temple

    • @daokoxd1145
      @daokoxd1145 Před 8 měsíci +8

      Late reply but the way it seems is that the colossus Rapidly decayed after many years of being locked in time so as to catch up or the magic that kept them alive faded and it just returned them to what it once was: Dirt and grass with only the artificial stones and armor staying. If we go by the time moves differently like months or years then it wouldn't make sense because Emon and his men would have been very old once they catch up to Wander in the final scene.
      Best theory is the first one where they rapidly decayed like Time is catching up to them since the Forbidden lands where sealed in time and was gradually broken

      All the dialog spoken in the game is the same in all 3 versions (PS2, PS3, PS4). The only difference is the PS4 version has either new voice acting or a remix of existing voice acting for the male/female voice of Dormin. Either way the subtitles of what Dormin is saying are the same in all 3 versions. I did notice though that one line spoken by one of Lord Emon's men is missing from the PS4 version.

    Doesn't matter if it's played on PS5 really, it's still a PS4 version game with the same PS4 limits. There's no version that takes any advantage of the PS5's new hardware capabilities. Sure the 30fps is stable but 30fps is all you get and the resolution is the exact same on the PS5 in all guality modes as the PS4. I really wish Bluepoint would release a framerate unlocked 4K version of this game, like Guerrilla games did for Zero Dawn. I know they can do it, just up the resolution and uncap the framerate. Idk why so many studios won't do it.
