    Porsche shook up the performance 4x4 marketplace when it introduced the big Cayenne. It shifted perceptions of how well a tall, heavy 4x4 could drive. All the engines provide ample performance, with even the entry-level V6 petrol and diesel models able to accelerate from 0-62mph in less than eight seconds.

    @friendlytaipei Hi, Mat from CarBuyer here. I appreciate the videos are samey, but they are supposed to be as it makes it easy for people to compare models. You'll notice they are broken into two sections - the good points followed by the the bad points. This lets people quickly decide if a car is right for them. Please note in this video I say the Cayenne handles as well as you can expect an SUV to, which implies it corners better than the competition (X5, X3, RR Sport etc). Hope this helps.

    @RoyalVJ01 Hi, Mat from CarBuyer here. These videos are recorded primarily for our website CarBuyer.co.uk and the prices of the vehicles are listed on the review page where the video is hosted. I don’t mention the exact price in the video on purpose because if a car’s price changes slightly, which they often do, what I say in the video won’t agree to the price on the page and this would confuse users. For full details on a car visit the CarBuyer website. Hope this helps.

I do seem to remember (I maybe wrong) you saying in an earlier review that you are about 6 foot. This reason I ask is to get a better idea of the knee room for taller people. I couldn't agree more, I also love the X5, it looks fantastic and is fast, like the X6 M. Obviously very few people who buy these cars will actually take them off road but it's good to know that if we get some floods or heavy snow these cars would be able to cope with it, even with the standard road tires, and that's where I see the Cayenne being superior. I don't however like the dials and interior of the Cayenne, I love the second gen Touareg, however the new one looks awful and feels cheaper.

    @LeadHammer Hi, Mat from CarBuyer here. I take your point about this video not showing the Cayenne's abilities so watch the one I did for the Auto Express CZcams channel to see it off-roading and even drifting! Please note: these reviews are for our CarBuyer website and focus more on practicality than fun. Anyway the Cayenne is the Porsche for families so practicality is pertinent. And really, more people are likely to use the car's door bins and glovebox than take it off-road. Hope this helps.

    I think the Cayenne would win, amazing vehicle, even the international anti-cayenne authority top gear Uk loves it, and rates it very high. it has presence performance, a second to none interior, fuel economy, extended fuel tank option etc. that would be a sweet match up though

  • @DrakorGaet
    @DrakorGaet Před 11 lety

    Actually, I know a lot of people who own a Cayenne and all of them have something like a 911, or a Boxster/Cayman as well. They use the Cayenne in situations where the sportscars might be stumped. Like bad weather, long journeys, or shopping.

    You're absolutely right when you say there's no rational need for sports cars/convertibles etc, but what I would say in relation to that is that sports cars are more a rare aesthetic thing, if I seem an e-type coming down the road it brightens my day greatly because they are a thing of beauty. But sadly we can't all drive e-types. And convertibles, although technically pointless, are fun to be in and don't really put anyone else in danger or use particularly more fuel. 4x4s are proven to be...

  • @asbsad
    @asbsad Před 12 lety

    One more thing is I am talking about real costs, and if you can get a ml for around 50k, all the power to you! But I still want to remind you, as an owner, the Ml has tons of stuff that goes wrong (e.g suspention, interior plastics, door lock, remote locking, door handle), but the big stuff doesn't go wrong such as engine..but after 5 to 6 years stuff will break and it will cost you a good amount of money to fix.

    The interior design in the porsche is much better yes, as most of the surfaces have a form of leather on them, unlike the Touareg, which opts for more plastic. However with regards to the outside, taken into account the Touareg Altitude, it could be an even match. I think I would go for the Porsche though.

    I own a ml (09), and everytime I go for a service or repaire something on my merc (trust me I have been there a lot of times) I go and look around the dealership and just take in on the market. All the new Mls I see in the delearship with a reasonable amount of options (p1 + leather + paint) are around 62-63k. One thing I learn from going to that dealer often is that NEVER LOOK AT THE WEBSITE! Beacuse if you order a car (with your own options) you don't get any money off.

  • @1alex1m
    @1alex1m Před 12 lety

    the new ml costs around 63k-76k or even 80k ( that is the 350), merc's new price is kind of over the top, they are selling a car that is made in Alabama for 80k (which is the same price as a more powerful Cayenne S with options). In a short word, go for the british car. There are not as many options as the Germans (fyi that how they make money, options lists Porsche's option list can go for 60k on top of the car and mercs has 30k of options, Bmw and Audi charge you 17-20k of options for a car)
