I'd buy this over an evoque in a heartbeat. The evoque is a pussy footed fashion accessory, if I were to buy a range rover, I'd save up for the proper, full sized one.

Oh my, people referring this to an overpriced tiguan. I am not a fan of Porsche but this car is incredible it sticks to the road like glue and it's handling is incredible. Drive one! Their is no comparison between the two and as for the price ... Well you get what you pay for.

Well done Porsche, looks slightly better than the Cayenne. Seems everybody that has driven it are all sold on how it drives.

"Wow factor of the Range Rover Evoque". OK, but the Evoque looks like crap to me. I prefer the sportier instance of the Macan, thank you very much.
Brilliant car superbly built . Size , height perfect for urban and country environment. Drool on.
Nice alternative to the Evoke and suited to UK roads, will have to try the diesel version !!!

It's underpinnings is basically a Q5 and for the money.Id just go for the SQ5,sounds like a muscle car,goes like one and has a sense if coolness about it.

I don't believe I've ever seen a fender cut line go from the wheel well to the door. I wonder why they did that. And the last gen RAV4 called and wants its bodyside rub strip/moulding back.

But wait, I think I am missing the point here, what is the after service like with Porsche? Thats something people miss when comparing vehicles to buy. I would pay more if I know I am going to get some attention when I go back for a service, small things like offering a decent service vehicle if required, being available to service the vehicle and general after sales service. Can someone anyone here tell me which car make offers the best customer service?

Sister car is the Q5 (no bad thing) Problem is the sister car to the Cayenne is/was the Toureg and not the Q7. Of course the Q7 is/was too big a beast but it does seem to be a bit of a pick' n' mix going on in the 'sisterhood' of cars.For the Audi part of the group, they all seem well spaced out but the Macan and Cayenne seem to be stepping on each other's toes for size, seats and image.
I didnt like the way it looks until I saw one in person... not bad!!

I think matt misspeling when he say "Makhan", actually the spelling was "Machan" not "Makhan". I knew it because Porsche took the name of the tiger in Indonesia, and I'm from Indonesia :)
Just got delivery of the turbo version in white. Looks great, drives like a dream. Don't buy grey, looks almost ugly in front of the white or black colors. Only thing is the exhaust note which could have been meatier/louder for a turbo...
my dad's one's coming in two weeks, can't wait!

Because "Macan" is taken from Indonesian word "tiger", It's actually read as "machan" with the "chan" as in chance.
(because, "Makhan" in Indonesian mean "eating")
One of the few Porsche"s i like, much better than Cayenne, compact, hi tech, fast.
But evoque is still a looker...

if it released a 4 cylinder with 25/35 MPG, I would consider it. I need a luxury SUV with really good mileage. Right now i am considering the BMW X1. it has everything i am looking for.

0:45 tailgate lights alignment , that doesn't look to good , especially for a Porsche
the side and rear look just like Infiniti Ex37/35(which is 2008 to now model)
I very much question the price of the Macan, i know Porsche is a premium brand and that they never will sell "cheap" cars but the prices of the Macan diesel and S is just under the Cayenne Diesel and Cayenne V6. In Sweden with some options at the dealership there is Macan's that cost 160,000$ which is almost like a brand new Cayenne GTS or a slightly used Cayenne Turbo. They've made the Macan way to expensive, anyone would take a Cayenne anyday over this car.
I agree. The price is very close to the larger Cayenne, which kind of raise the question, why you would not just go for the Cayenne, which actually CAN do a bit of offroading?
This is better on the road obviosly. But I cant help thinking, that if its only for the road, then why make it so tall? How much better could it be, if Porsche had just given up this silly SUV idea and build a modern successor to the front engined 928 sports GT car instead?
Or to put it another way: What was missing so far from the Porsche lineup was not a smaller and nimbler but almost as expensive Cayenne. It was a smaller, nimbler and much prettyer Panamera. A successor to the brilliant 928 front engined GT car, which Porsche made until 1995.
MACAN = MA-CHAN , its not MAKAN... its fix word, just like japanese words ..
its means TIGER , its came from Indonesian word

Main Problem of this Macan is that his price is almost same like Cayenne or in some cases he cost even more than Cayenne and in the same time his price is on the level of BMW x5 or mercedes M or about 10000 euro more(with same engine and equipment) than WV Toureg which is bigger and more luxurious

Why are they charging extra for bluetooth, a reversing camera and heated seats comon Porsche that really isn't OK...
I can't help but wonder if the Macan would be better if it were shrunk down and done as a 5 door hatch instead, I've never really been into these mini SUVs they all look like big hatchbacks and this Macan makes me interested in the idea of a Porsche Hatchback.
That wouldn't work. One of the main markets for Porsche is the U.S. market, and Americans unfortunately don't like hatch's.
chigasaki06 I don't live in America and there are plenty of countries who buy hatchbacks. If Audi can sell an upmarket golf then Porsche can too.

aliGyo The Panamera is a saloon car, I'm talking about a hatchback, like a Golf GTI 5 door or an Audi A3 but All wheel drive and done by Porsche, a Panamera is nothing like a Golf it's too long.
I agree. This is essentially just a big 5-seater hatchback with a slightly raised ride height. And you have to wonder, what that is all about, if its not meant to go offroad anyway? It would obviously drive a lot better, if they simply lowered it 50-100 mm, so why dont they?
The only explanation, I can find, is, that it must be the weird tastes of the american and chinese market, which cause Porche to make their hatchback much worse, than it could have been.
In these markets rich people buy a Porsche, because its prestige, but they dont really care about, how the car drive. They are just buying the badge basically.

+Marcus Lu Nice problem to have! The Macan is a bit better overall (we feel) but it's really down to which you'd rather be driving. The Porsche is much more fun to drive and (I personally think) nicer to sit in. So if we had the choice, we'd plump for the Porsche!
