Perry is one humble cat. I bumped into him (literally) in an LA music club a couple of years back and he was profusely apologetic over it. When he saw that I recognized him (I just said, “Hey man, nice voice!”), he smiled, grabbed my arm and said, “Thank you, thank you...really appreciate it!”
Love this man would love to meet him someday 💓💓💓💓💋💋💋💋
I would hope to be that cool if I "bumped into" him. I first saw him in concert with Journey while in college in the early 80's. I was 100% hooked and an absolute fan. I liked Journey a great deal, but I ❤❤❤ Steve Perry and always will. He is the voice that all other voices should aspire to be.
I'm pretty sure I would completely pass out if I ever bumped into him.
He is the nicest star I have ever heard of. ..so caring and sweet to his fans. He's just a sweet kind man.
❤hé &I have a wonderful life
I had a stroke & am in recovery, steve if u read this know I'm going to make it, I love u
What I love about Steve Perry, besides his obvious talent, is his heart- he seems never to have any ill intent.
Yes it’s puzzling how he became estranged from the band
Absolutely agree! He's unassuming and so "down to Earth." I watched a CBS Sunday Morning™ interview with Steve Perry & 1 thing that really stood out was that he said, "I always felt like an outsider"
(in Journey) and like he was always the "new guy" and didn't fit in. Neal Schon, however, OMG! Well let's just say that humility would not accurately describe Neal😮
I think he went through a horrible emotional time with his mother and the ex girlfriend . He had no time to recoup and he was fragile
I love how he does not throw any of his band mates under the bus. He is a very warm, kind, humble, handsome and gifted man! Nice to see that he is back to making music again. What a great interview.
Probably one of the most humble, underrated and appreciated musicians of all time.
Thanks so much for the moral push, you have been picked for a chat with me. This is my way of showing you all that you are not forgotten , your activity and you can get in touch with me via just email me on steveperry4110@gmail.com
I don’t think he’s underrated at all. He’s widely recognized as one of the all time greatest voices in rock. Most people think the new guy is fine but we all agree he’s not as good as Perry. He’s in the R&R HOF. His songs are celebrated around the world and EVERYONE in the bar sings along when they come on the jukebox.
Exactly what else would you like in order for him to be properly rated?
His laugh is so wonderful and infectious. I love his down to earth humbleness.
The only reason why I said Ron is cuz it's the only name I know you go to a place that's comfortable for you that you like get really good food for us not junk just get a nice meal okay whatever you pay for it tell me before I come I'll go to the bank and bring the cash okay I'll see you at 1:00om kickoff
I'm not going to eat anything until then.
Send me a text to how much money it cost to go to the bank and get the money and bring. Happy birthday ❤️
i was watching some " We are the world" vids and Steve Perry's golden voice made me go down the rabbit hole to watch some interviews that he's done. What a treasure.
That is exactly what happened to me, too! I just watched the Netflix documentary on the making of, "We Are The World", and Steve's voice hit me once again & I have been watching Steve Perry videos ever since!
me too!! @@garciastudios
Same here! I am obsessed with this amazing person!
Me too!
Same with me last night!!😂
His voice is unmistakably one of the most iconic voice out there! Beautiful talent!
He has a distinct voice indeed. Albeit a voice that is obviously inspired by Sam Cooke. Runs. Ad libs. The whole bit sounds just like Sam Cooke.
@@morelife6508All artists are usually inspired by previous artists.
But he was a countertenor and an Altino which is a rare voice - you are born with it or you aren’t.
His voice range was higher than Sam Cooke’s. He has hit C6 - extraordinary!! He could also sing with a raspy voice like Otis Redding if he chose. Sam Cooke did not ever sing with a raspy voice. I grew up in the Sixties and was a huge soul music/ Motown fan. As was Steve Perry.
Check out Bob Fosse - you’ll see Michael Jackson.
@@morelife6508HEY SUNNY!
I'VE HEARD HUNDREDS OF ARTISTS!
NO ONE LIKE STEVE PERRY!
WHAT'S UR FUKING POINT?! TRYING TO DOWNGRADE THE PERSON WITH MOST GREATEST, SWEETEST, HAUNTING, MELODIC VOICE EVER!!!
Steve is my absolute favorite. I currently have a chance to watch Journey but I won’t without Steve because in my mind “HE IS JOURNEY!”
Same with me!!!
I saw Journey when they toured with Def Leppard (maybe 2009) so not Steve but boy the guy they have sounds sooooo close. I never had the opportunity to see him while he was with Journey my parents were VERY anti R&R and didn’t allow me to go to any 😞 but the guy they had back then sounded pretty damn close
THAT'S SOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL 😍 🤩 😢❤ AND I AM WITH THAT PERSON WHO SAID THAT STEVE PERRY SHOULD BE BACK WITH THE BAND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE 🙏 STEVE GO BACK TO 🙏 YOUR GROUP THAT YOU 🙏 BELONG TO 🙏 ❤❤❤😢 I LOVE YOU ❤️ 😍 STEVE PERRY. I SAW 👀 YOU HERE IN THE LATE 80S AND YOU WAS SOOOOOO AWESOME AND THANKS 😊 👍 GOD BLESS 🙌 🙏 YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND FRIEND'S ❤
SO SORRY I FORGOT, THIS IS DONNA SEAY IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY ❤

I once sat across from Steve in a restaurant in Studio City and of course I wanted to tell him how much I loved him, I actually even shot photos of him at a show on the For Love of Strange Medicine tour and he was incredible, being so close I could really hear all of his great vibrato so clearly, and he would even pose for me once in a while, but no way was I going to interrupt him eating dinner, he's a real class act, such an amazing person!
I think I'd pass out if I saw him, lol. I love oh Sherry, and imagine he's singing to me when that comes on the radio. Love him xoxox

Steve is the real thing! What a voice whenever I hear him i smile! He really is Journey no one else can replace him!❤❤❤❤❤🤣

“It was a good time for music...it really was”...truer words have never been spoken! 1975 to 1985 music was the best!!!
Steve, you deserve any good things that come your way. The amount of good feelings your voice has spread across the world, you definitely deserve accolades.
A😊
I never knew he's Portuguese and speaks the language!!! I'd love to hear him sing in Portuguese! Valeu!!!
I can see some 'brown' skin tones in him. Always thought it was American Indian. But now that makes sense. Seeing as how Portugal has a mix of Arab and northern African over time.
@@morelife6508 Not really. Not an Arab and northern African mix in Portugal.
He is the most talented singer. Love it when he laughs. So glad he came back❤️👍🏻🤟🏻😍
Steve Perry without a doubt has one of the best voices ever in music history.
Its rarified air when one is a top tier rock singer, the ultimate being the mountain top: however, that spot is occupied by Steve Perry
Brad delp of boston had a Hell of a voice when he was alive!
He wasn't the only one Mickey Thomas from Starship I think is every bit as good as Steve Perry and in some ways even better don't get me wrong I love Steve Perry's voice he's one of my favorites but I also like Mickey Thomas I've seen like both of them I personally think they're both pretty equal but I think that Mickey Thomas might be just a little bit better at this age right now currently back in the day they pry or equal right now I think this age group I would probably take a little bit, cuz he kept his voice in better shape
Yeah mickey still killing it!!!
And the sweetest man, unlike facelift Schon.
He is so insightful , deep thinker. So humble, love his laugh 😆 BEST VOICE EVER ❤
Steve comes off as a really nice humble down-to-earth dude. And he was 70 when this interview was done (71 now) - wow! I didn't realize he was that old - he looks and sounds great for his age.
This man has a heart of great compassion.. God loves you Steve, Dont stop believing
One of the best performer in music history: hands down.
Not only is he one of the BEST vocalist but I LOVE his laugh.
Steve Perry is the voice of Journey, and they'll never be the same without him! Neal Schon admitted that in a documentary a view year's ago. 😢💔
He’s just GREAT. Just a humble, kind soul.
This man has worked so hard and deserves continual success ...wish him well .
Here is what I love about Steve Perry. He has a warm spirit. He seems to be a faithful type of person. He showed respect to his mother by caring for her. I value those simple things.
💞
He seems very humble, kind, and trustworthy.
Faithfully....😍
I relate to him so much.
duradim
I don't think that caring for his mom was a simple thing, he was a only child for her and his father left when he was so young, so they were each other rock and she nurtured and encouraged him.
It's just mind boggling to me that we almost lost sharing in his precious gift to some turkeys😁 but lucky for us he decided that not singing would definitely make a turkey out of him.💞😍🍀
This is priceless!! I love Steve Perry! I’m so glad he found his way back to music!
Big thank you to Steve Perry and Journey for all the found memories shared with your music , throughout my golden years of life
Steve Perry one of the greatest male rock vocalists EVER!
Vice Squad , Yes, and he Rocks many genres of Music🎶💕
NO! I am!!
You say that like male voices are the anomaly or inferior...what's up with that?
Mickey Thomas was great also. Still got it!!!!
@@UKSportsFan No, he said that like there are many male vocalists out there while also acknowledging that there are some major female vocalists at the same time. I mean seriously, why are you so upset that he indicated that Steve is a male singer and not a female singer?
Steve Perry has a magical voice. His music never gets old.
My favorite male vocalist ever. ❤️ I just love him.
Steve has such a beautiful voice.
I'm so glad that I found Steve and his wonderful musical talent. I could listen to him talk and sing all day long!! I'm a late bloomer. I was two when he started touring with Journey.
Steve is so real!! Love his interviews, old or new!! 🥰
Steve is a beautiful human being ❤️
Gotta love this guy. I'd listen to him telling stories for hours.
Steve Perry lifts my spirit in both voices...singing & talking...does both, beyond the norm.
Steve Perry, one of the best voices ever!
I love his Singing Voice and his Songs. He has so much charisma. He is a Natural Born Singer. What a Beautiful Gift he has!
I also had the biggest crush on him when I was younger. That long black hair killed me. Saw him in concert in early 80s. He's still gorgeous 😍
No doubt about it ,the greatest range in his voice of all the rock stars. He can sustain those high notes with ease. His breath control is impeccable
Steve is the best! Humble grounded intelligent with a great sense of humour. He was smart about how he managed himself and his incredible gift back in the day and self aware enough to know when he was in trouble. That is why he's still here and still singing 40 years later.
Steve perry's voice is a gift from God. We are all truly blessed to have him❤💕
Yes!!
He is a gift from God!!!
I agree!
Who is this god of whom you speak, do you have some evidence?
Not that hard, is it?
@@motoxray God has become just a saying to a large majority of the world. Kind of like when someone gets excited or something they'd say "Jesus!" It's too bad most people don't actually seek for Him, but rather use His name is vain having no idea what is waiting after this test life. Anyway... be born again.
I could watch Steve Perry and listen to him talk and / or sing forever ❤️❤️❤️
Steve is not just talented, he is highly intelligent. This is why he interviews well.
Indeed. Very intelligent and eloquent.
YES you said it like it is. STEVE PERRY is GREAT, HANDSOME, INTELLIGENT & very KIND. And a man who LOVES HIS MOM. ONE OF THE BEST VOICES OF ALL TIME for sure.
Steve Perry, l love and admired you before and still does and more these time. I was so touched by your love live. Best thing I've learned fr. that is to move on. I love you.
THANK YOU BENZ VAN GENT for your KIND words. Mr. STEVE PERRY IS THE BEST! ARNEL PINADA is a good singer, but there is ONLY ONE STEVE PERRY!!!! GOD BLESS YOU SIR.

Steve Perry's voice can never be replaced. He is one of a kind. Love The Man. ❤
HE ALREADY HAS BEEN. L.O.L. HE EVEN LOOKS LIKE ARNEL PINEDA.
Oh please. Pineda can only imitate. Perry is the original and a Legend.
What a sweet humble guy, just honest & beautiful. An amazing guy and the best of the best of singers. Thanks for the music Steve, love ya
I didn’t realize Steve was such an awesome human being. I love when long time rockstars are super down to earth humble people.
I fucking love this guys voice.... voice of my youth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steve Perry is one of my all time favourite singers. I saw Perry and Journey live in Calgary in 1980. The drummer threw his broken drum sticks into the audience and I caught them. That was a great concert and the acid helped too.
I love you Steve Perry you are one the greatest singers ever in rock and roll history 💙
Being a therapist, I can tell he's done some great processing. He's so transparent and humble, wow! Mind-blowing! Thank you Mr. Perry for being so honest and with such integrity. In the few interviews I have seen of you, I have not heard you throwing anyone under the bus. Such a classy guy! I love how you had the ability to set boundaries and protect yourself. It seems to me, you did not forfeit yourself for the sake of money and fame. Blessings to you.
E P He’s so resilient. I hope he knows how strong he really is.
thundersmypup he sure is
just getting to know this great "fellow Valley guy" (I grew up 25 miles from Steve ). My school (Tulare Union High) played Hanford and Lemoore in sports. But...I am 4yrs Steve's senior. we also went to College of the Sequoias....different dates! So neat getting to "know" this talented man!!!!
He's decompressed for a long time and had time to learn how to compartmentalize those demons.
He has plenty of REASON to throw people under the bus, and to resent life for taking Good from him, but he's still giving.
What are you talking about? The guy is loaded, he has no kids and never married. Of course he’s doing ok.
Love hearing Steve talk about his life and music. #1 in my Book. Keep Singing Steve.... Don't Ever Stop.

My discovering of Journey went like this. Growing up pretty poor and it was just one of a very few times my parents had some spare change.
At 11 years old in 1981 our family went to either Woolworths or Woolco (can't remember which one) but, my brother came up to our mom and asked if he could get this album (Joan Jett) she said yes.
I asked if I could get one too, she said yes. I went over to the record section and started looking and found, what I thought was incredible album artwork. Not knowing anything about it, I had picked up Journey Escape and that was what I got..................turned out to be my favorite band!
One of the greatest. Thankyou
Great story 👌
I found him on my Walkman. "Separate Ways." I'd heard Santana, SRV, Sinatra...and the 50s stuff, but I don't recall many men singing this high as a kid
I have watched this video quite a few times now and I think it’s one of the if not the best Interview Steve done for Traces. He seemed to be right at home with Jonsey. He looked like he had a great time. So a big congratulations Jonesy.🎼❤️🎼❤️🇺🇸🕺🏻💃🎸☘️
69 years old. I'm 53 and I look old enough to be Steve's Dad.
Lmao🤣 He does look really good
blue heeler he didn’t get a facelift like Schon/ Valory.
@blue heeler , He don't need any surgeon, unlike Schon !!!!!
Love Steve Perry my favorite singer of all time ❤️
He is a genius with one of the best voices of the Century. He was the soul of Journey! They should have never let him leave.
I met Steve at the top of CN Tower when he was playing Toronto he was such a great guy and very talkative, just like here, brings back such good memories. Thanks.
Steve Perry is a Vocal Institution! He sings straight from his heart and soul!

If you say so. Poems and babies are only good to their creators.

Steve Perry is the best singer in the history of music - period. His voice is angelic and very powerful.
You must be joking lol he was good but he aint the best singer in history

Like Tina- Steve is "simply the best" 🙏🙋
Trying to sing Don't Stop Believin' in the right key is so difficult, omg, along with so many of Journey's songs. They really need to release the live ESCAPE tour officially on vinyl... Steve just sounded so good live.
His voice still stands out as one of the best in the business.
Thanks to Jonesy for doing a great interview. You were one of the few interviewers that realized the Man you are interviewing is Steve Perry, not just Journeys former singer. So much more! Respect.
I just heard “What Was “ and “I Stand Alone” and if I wasn’t in love with him before I am now!!! I have been in sheer awe of his voice since 79. Steve Perry having so much pain in his hip after they returned was devastating to me. Everything and every interview i am on it just to see himvand hear him laugh see him smile. His voice is golden!!! Be here faithfully, because I never stop believin! Love you!!
Man, Steve Perry still remains the perfect celebrity. Watching and listening to recent interviews, he's still very approachable and down to earth. He's still got a sense of humor about it all, he doesn't bottle everything up, not really. He does share a lot of information, just not everything all at once.
He's not just being good for the cameras or for the publicity, I don't think. He really strikes up a conversation, or at least he does now that he's more confident about it. Back in the day when he was still touring with Journey, things might have been different. But right now... he just seems like a real pleasure to talk to, to interview.
I hope I'm like that when I'm 70 years old.
