- Selling our horses at a auction - we had a lot of fun and learned a lot! Blake bought Spirit a wild mustang from the Navajo Reservation just under a year ago and has been doing some horse training on him ever since. Today he takes him and others to auction to see how his hard work might pay off. Selling horses from the farm.

I am so happy you and Blake decided to take Rawhide back home because he is worth a lot more than $2,100. He is so willing to learn and please his riders
Omygosh! I pray all of those beautiful horses went to loving homes. Also, I’m so glad Blake didn’t accept the final bid and that his beautiful horse is back home with him. From what I see in the videos Blake works so hard on the farm and he loves that horse so I hope he gets to stay with Blake forever.

You should sell your horses to your online community......all us horse people who have been watching Spirit know he is easily worth 5,000. 😉 Blake has made him a wonderful using horse.
Spirit is a beauty. Every horse if. Love seeing the love Blake shows the animals, the kids and his family. Wonderful young man.

Good that you got your price for Spirit, and that young lady is pleased with her first horse. Rawhide is not quite ready to bring your price. Spend time learning how to ride off your seat and teach him to work off your seat. What ever you do, enjoy life and keep the faith.

I appreciate all your expressions of love and affection. You all warm my heart. I was born in Riverside CA. Dad was USAF. Every time they drove back to Indiana they took HWY 66. So no doubt they went right by there from 1954-1957. I was in the car too. God bless you all. Prayers for a successful surgery. Don’t fear the pain meds. Take them. The less you hurt the more you do and the faster you heal. The only addiction in your life is horses. 🙏🙏🙏❤️🙏🙏🙏

There aren't many horses like Rawhide. He needs to be kept w you guys . That's his home. Never get rid of that one..Blake and Rawhide are a good pair .

You can 💯 say that is his heart horse and that horse loves him.he followed him everywhere and right next to him at all time. They make a beautiful pair. I think he should keep him . Beautiful horse and one of a kind.

The bridle is made of Biothane. It is wonderful!! Cleans up with a wet cloth. It is nylon coated with the plastic so its strong and durable and easy to clean. The colors stay bright for years. ( Two Horse Tack sells it as well)

I don't know how you can sell them, I get so attached to my animals I can never let them go, until they die of old age or disease, miss them way to much to let them go to some stranger! Heartbreaking watching!

It was so sad to see Spirit go but I’m glad Blake got his price. He’s a beautiful horse & I hope the new owner will appreciate him. At least Rawhide came home. I’m sure, with y’all’s care, the palomino & her colt will do well. I know you didn’t need any more mouths to feed, but so glad you rescued them. Y’all are a kind & loving family that are always giving & looking out for others. So glad Allen’s doing better. Do your therapy after surgery! I’ll warn you, it is not fun but it makes a world of difference in your recovery. Y’all stay safe & healthy.

Living out here in South Dakota I appreciate a good horse, good bone and good attitude. Blake has done a great job with Spirit. I have my own Spirit (Kiger mustang) but would have been very willing to give $3,000 for the horse. Keep up the good work guys.

I thought that ring looked familiar! We've been to Robertson's auction a number of times over the years. Pulled some rescues, and found a couple good riding horses, but it's hit or miss and it seems like most of the buyers hold out for a deal on finished horses.

That was a lot of work in hot weather, Blake. Beautiful horses, beautiful valley. The Davis side of my family came from Pima. Great memories of visiting there. Praying the surgery is successful. Keep on keeping on.

@@TheFarmonRoute66 I'm glad. Do you ever worry that those buyers could? I don't have horses but if I did and had to do an auction I'd be worried because I don't want my horses going to slaughter. I see so many videos of rescues going and buying as many horses as they can to save them from the kill buyers. It's so sad, especially for the registered racehorses.
That was my concern...why does someone take older mare and get young ones....very sad 😔

Blake great training...just try and learn to be softer in your Horses mouths...and when getting them to learn to backup....keep them soft in the mouth...just a little pressure in the mouth then let them drop their heads...then they will back up. You may not know how you make a difference in people lives. l just have to tell you. This past 2 year I have become handicap. I was a CNA for a little over 25 yeas. Now I can't walk with crutches. Every seance I was a little girl. I've wanted a horse of my owne and have been watching horse training videos for the last 15 ➕ years. Dreaming of getting a colt and doing most of it's training myself. I fear that my dream will be just that. A dream. When I watch you videos a little bit of that dream still lives as I sit and watch you and your family. Again thank you so much for sharing a small part of your lives with us. May God continue to keep you and bless you abundantly .

When in the auction ring, would it be a good idea to show how great the horse is with ground work (in addition to under saddle), and practical tasks, like picking up all four feet without incident? I wonder if that would help coax people to bid higher. There's a YT channel hosted by a western horse trainer who suggests, among other tips, that when you are shopping for a horse, being able to pick up the horse's hooves is a big deal. Thank you for sharing the auction experience!

@@dianehunsberger2271 That could be. A long time ago, I saw an old YT video of a mule in an auction sales ring and I learned something. Among other tricks, the sellers stood up on the mule's back, cracking a bull whip just over the animal's ears, eyes, and close to its rump. The mule stood quietly. They also took a running chain-saw and did the same as they did with the bull whip. Still, the animal stood quietly. The mule did what it was told, when it was told, and long-story-short, the sellers netted over $10k. Actually, if memory serves, I think it was over $30k. These stunts were over-the-top, but the "drama" of the show worked well.
I'm not an auction expert, but I have been learning something about marketing and what gets people to put their money down. Yes, it could be that groundwork can be shown before the bidding starts, but research shows that it is often when people are emotionally charged (the sales ring is the most exciting part of the auction, right?) that they make the decision to purchase.
However, I can see that in some cases, showing groundwork before time in the sales ring would be best. Some animals may not be desensitized to the auction noise, let alone a chain-saw, and may not tolerate anyone lifting their feet, right? But if that and other things can be done quietly amidst all the chaos (perhaps bridling right there in the ring), all the better for the seller, I would think.

Also, for your shoulder try using Voltaren pain gel. There’s a generic I do believe. I use it for a chest injury and it helps a lot. I pray that you heal quickly. You guys are so amazing.

Love your channel. I use to do so the same thing. A bit of advice that took me awhile to figure out. More time on less horses. Focusing on a select few to really dial them in. You want to get the most done in the auction ring with the least bit of effort. Im telling you why feed 5 horses when you can make the same amount or even more with 2 well trained horses.
