thank you for showing the little floor plan as you move through the tour, it is a big help. My thoughts, the bedroom with that "partial wall" leading into the bath area, please run it to the top! This way is looks odd, I think, noise will also flow through to the bedroom. Take advantage of the smaller footprint of the bedroom, repeat the paneling look that is on one wall on the other walls. Havve some beautiful ceiling molding. Create a "jewel box" bedroom, it can be exquisate. The bedroom with the wall paper - keep it! with the right drapes on those fabulous rod structures, bedding, etc., it will be charming. Those "faux" stained glass windows - as someone mentioned, they are "painted stained glass" - keep it for now, when you are much farther along, having true stained glass custom made that will perhaps have a theme related to the adjacent room is a thought. Those just need to go down the road! Take your time making these decisions--so the best design decisions get made. It is great that you seek input in the Comments, thank you. That dog is a wonder! So sweet, quiet and nicely following you both on the tour!

I love your tours! So clearly presented and showing the plans helps so much. As for the last bedroom, I would knock down through the square tower for the en suite. It would save you so much time and money rather than installing new pipe lines in the round one. Keep the round one as a nook. If you put up a dramatic ,opulent wallpaper and two armchairs with a small round table ,it would become a wonderful feature.😀

We are all loving the format of the tours and maps, as for your questions about the ensuite.....I for one think using the square one will afford you a better layout and a more luxurious area....the round turret is so romantic, I kind of envision a comfy loveseat, plants, restored stained glass and a little table with wine and snacks. An aura of library perhaps? some mirrors across from the window would make it brighter ? You will find just the right application. Love this.

Hi loving the tours. The chateau is beautiful. In the turret off the guest room. It would make a beautiful dressing room imagine a curved a hanging rail up high and a bridal dress hanging from it. Or a space with a small table & chair to sit and read a book or tea and coffee break. The light coming in the window is very restful.

Could you make the turret area a reading/sitting nook?
Just thinking… if you have a washroom so close… why take a chance on future leak possibilities in your turret 🤔 As long as you can remove the wall with no issues I would personally keep all the water and drainage in the area already established. Hmmm just a thought.

Looking good! Love showing the floorplan as you go along.
Another vote here for expanding the existing toilet room to a full en suite. Plumbing to the turret would be costly, and if you don't insulate well, pipes could freeze in an extreme winter.
You could widen the doorway and put up a wall down the hallway to make it a small sitting area - a suite instead of just a room. In the turret itself - a reading nook, a meditation chamber, a writing space with a desk, etc. If you have furniture that serves multiple purposes, you'll have flexibility.

Hi there, why don’t you build a new entrance door in the corridor so you have a large master suite, so you have a foyer separate bathroom and then make the turret room in to a dressing room or a office/ sitting area. That way you can have a central door way facing you as you look down the corridor giving it a more grander perspective and no knocking though needed plus you maybe able to pull the existing bathroom wall forward to get a bigger footprint for the shower, less pluming work todo. Jason

    • @kennelmaid1
      @kennelmaid1 Před 2 lety +3

My thoughts to Jason and I agree with you, just saved me explaining it all lol .. the window nearest the bathroom wall (in corridor ) once wall is removed this window can hopefully be incorporated in to the larger bathroom footprint, looks like there is enough room to move wall forward up to existing bedroom door way .Placing the bathroom door in a new foyer area instead of knocking through as first mentioned from bedroom .Looks like there is ample space to have a new wall and bedroom door all the way down the corridor and past the walled book case then this area becomes the bedroom foyer.

I think using the existing bathroom as the ensuite is the best plan! I don't know that you need to open the wall though; I think you can use the existing door opening as the access, and build a new wall in the hallway with a doorway to the combined bedroom and ensuite. The existing bedroom door could be place there, in the new hallway wall. If there's room for that! Love the turrent as a little reading nook with the lovely stained glass window.

I understand wanting to keep the dreamy circular turret rooms as they are but if knocking through to another space will give you the room you need for en-suites, I would definitely do that. Excellent video! Thank you. Having just recently renovated my en suite I have two things you may wish to consider during your renovations. The first is the height of the sink. I’m 5’ 7” and find most sinks mounted too low for comfort. I installed sink at my waist height (about 100 cm/39”) and it makes a wonderful difference. It was not difficult to mount the sink and dresser to the wall. The second thing you might want to consider is the colour(s) used in the bathroom. I finally decided to have an all white bathroom except for slightly marble tiles on floor and shower. This enables me to change the colours in my bedroom and then easily tie in the bedroom colour using wall art, towels etc. Hope this is useful to you. Looking forward to your next video. You’re doing an excellent job!

Your second bedroom lost a little bit of it's grandeur with the en suite wall , knowing that your second & third bedrooms would make a fantastic family suite . Where you intend to put the third wash hand basin in the gap between the rooms might be a little awkward in hearing either bathroom or bedroom noises .

Suggestion- bedroom 5, make toilet area in to full ensuite, this could be achieved by shortening south wing hall, by moving wall at end. The bedroom entry door could be moved more to the left if needed. By doing this it would not look like an add on. The turret could make a little reading nook or coffee making area. Pity that wall was added, it definitely looks like an add on as the position of the fire place doesn’t look right. Please this is my opinion only, I don’t mean to offend you in anyway, Best wishes from Australia x

Whaw the chateau looks to be in really good state! I love the big rooms and the light that comes flooding in! I actually love that greenisch wallpaper in the big room with the bathtub! Decorated with lush chartreuze green/ gold drapes and furnished with some lovely antiques it should look wonderfull! I would not spend money on redecoating if the paper is in good nick. Don’t make it tooo modern. People staying in chateaux want the feeling of actually staying in the opulent grandeur of a chateau Not a fan of the so called stained windows, normal stained windows don’t fade in the sun. They look like a do it yourself job where they simply painte the glass with glaspaint. But what a wonderful chateau! I am really surprised how well it was kept. Looks like you don’t have any real big structual works except for putting in new bathrooms on this floor at least.

Beautiful Chateau. I like how you are breaking up your videos by floor so we have a chance to digest it all, and it creates a major curiosity of what the next floor looks like so that we may dream along with you. It's really helpful that you inset the floor plan.
You asked for suggestions, and I have one for Bedroom 5 and its en-suite. I feel the end of the south hall could be better used if it ends at the very first wall of the bedroom. Knock down the wall of the bedroom that is now between the bedroom and the hall. That would enlarge the bedroom, add a window that was in the hall, and use the otherwise wasted space of the hall there. It would also create a cooling cross breeze in the summer when the windows are open.
The en-suite could run from the bathroom in the square tower and continue on the same line to the round tower. The shower could be one tower, and the toilet in the other with the sink and cabinets in between. There would be ample light from the three windows in that area. The en- suite door from the bedroom could be moved to opposite the window between the towers. Hope this helps.
Bedroom 5 could be named Bolero, after the piece by Maurice Ravel.

Hi, new subscriber here from California. I was drawn to you mainly because of your wonderful demeanor and desire to do a great job showing your new castle. Contrary to others, your castle is in great condition and bringing it back will be easier than redoing beams, floor, roofs, etc. , as others had to do. Nevertheless, you do have a ton of work ahead of you but, you have the opportunity to meet other Chateaux owners from England and other entrepreneurs that have taken on the hard task of “living in a French chateau “ 😍 and to join their community and network for more support. I certainly wish you the best and will continue to follow your progress. ❤️💜🙏🏼

Love the idea of shower in the turret and if you make it a wet room for shower only you won’t need any glass on the shower and keeping the toilet and vanity in seperate room.
Opening up the lounge room downstairs to the small room next to it would make a lovely evening room. As you won’t want to pack away the morning salon every day after breakfast. So make a 2 nd salon room for the evening maybe with 2 fireplaces. Best of luck it looks lovely. Thanks for sharing

I just thought of a possibility for the tower. Have you considered having a room with a crib? I’ve seen round cribs in the past. You could really have fun with it in the tower. It would be out of the way for those guests who may not have babies, plus you could possibly curtain it off for them when desired. Endless possibilities really!

For ideas, is it possible for Revel to have Luteco's tiny bathroom? And Luteco to have half of Bedroom 4's bathroom? Luteco's floor plan is a little odd with the fireplace so close to the bathroom wall. And BR 4 can incorporate the closet & odd doorway into its bathroom. I don't know if that's enough space, but it's something to consider.
Annexing the hallway unto BR 5 might make it big enough to be a family suite.
I like how some of your bathrooms are modern & some are more classic with a claw foot tub!

I love your tours they are very professional. Especially with the map guiding us as to where you are in the chateau. I would suggest that you try and put more French Chateau features into the rooms so that don't lose to much of the character of the chateau. The rooms are very big and need big cushy chairs, rugs and paneling or wallpaper if you can to warm them up. And of course paintings on the walls.

The first room shown on the south wing has a small entry area with the closet. Because you said that room (could it be called the Garden Suite?) is large, could the entry area be incorporated into extending the bathroom? The door to the Garden Suite could be moved down the hall a bit to accommodate that. This would eliminate the awkward entry into the room and give a full wall to place a beautiful wardrobe furniture piece.
With the bathroom extended, it would leave more room for the toilet, which I didn't see a spot for except possibly right in front of the bathroom door which wouldn't be very private. Move the bathroom door to open in front of the sweet sink niche. The bathtub could go in front of the window, and a private area for the toilet could go on the left at the other end of the room (what used to be the bedroom entryway). You could use the door you're taking off the sink niche. The spare door from the entry area can be used as the bathroom door and set aside the current windowed door. There would then possibly be room for a small towel cabinet as well.
    You did say "luxury" accommodations.

In the Lucese Room en-suite, would it be possible to take down the wall dividing the new sink area and existing bathroom? The sink area could then take advantage of the light from the window in the bathroom and open up the awkward zig-zag pattern created there. The small alcove you created when you put up the wall will be quite dark to put a wardrobe in, so knocking out even more of that dividing wall to make it more like one area rather than two would be helpful.

I absolutely agree with the other commenters who suggested devoting a portion of the south hall to the 5th suite, with the round tower room and existing square lavatory, as the hall appears to terminate there. Beginning with the view of the hallway at 13:07 on the video, a new entryway to the 5th suite would look impressive anywhere along there. Even if the existing wall between the suite and the hall could not be changed or removed, part of the hallway may be used to enlarge the lavatory to a full en suite. Then the 5th suite would have an antechamber, much like the 4th suite does. The round tower could remain a unique space to sit in comfortable chairs, or hold coffee and tea things, if desired. What is the diameter of the tower room? How does it feel to be inside, with the door closed?
Thank you very much for the videos!
