VW Polo 6C 1.4TDI (2014) - 3 cylinder CUSA - annoying noise

  • VW Polo 6C 1.4TDI (2014) 3 Cylinder Strange engine noise
    Engine code CUSA and mileage 102,000
    Engine Noise when warm around 1800 - 2000RPM
    No Fault codes. or any other issues.
    So far its had Turbo and Actuator, EGR flap, N47 relay,
    EGR large 'O' Ring gasket.
    Can't feel any escaping air from Turbo, exhaust / manifold, breather or intercooler.
    It appears to be after engine is warm and gets worse as it gets hotter from a long run.
    It sounds like its coming from the Drivers side O/S. checked Serpentine belt and crank pulley and they appear to be OK. Can't see any pipes leaking or Cables vibrating. Engine mounts seem OK.
    Cambelt was renewed by dealer not looked at that. Alternator pulley appears to be OK as does A/C.
    No noise from flywheel at all not even when in neutral hot or cold. It sounds like a trombone noise and a little vibration but not on any pedals,
    this is the same driving or in neutral.
    Any ideas or if someone else had similar issue and cured would be much appreciated?

      Still not found it to be honest just live with it, however i did get a P200200 error a week ago. when below about 8'c it misses for a while about 2mins so I'm thinking it may be the egr cooler as the egr valve functions correctly. although this may be nothing to do with the noise when warm.

      @@calvinhudson327 Did you get it fixed? Where's the EGR Cooler? It kind of sounds like a boost leak. It's very similar to the noise on mine.

      No, no smoke at all never uses any oil I fitted a turbo when I bought it as turbo shaft and sheared off so that's been done as well. I've swapped the n75 valve and check the pipework breather pipe and EGR all seem to function well. I think it has a weird intercooler and also swirl flaps which centre actuate but I could be wrong could be wrong.

      The intercooler is a square oblong box with a valve in between it

      @@calvinhudson327 my car has the same noise. I don't want to drive it hard. I'm scared it's a boost leak.

      ​@InvisibleYetVisible if it's not losing boost power it's probably ok I've drove mine up and down the motorway many times and it's been fine as long as the turbos getting oil and there's no significant play it should be fine.

      @@calvinhudson327 the DPF light is on. I wonder if it's EGR cooler.
