Need to watch out for them suspicious bushes
Love ya bud x
I've seen a suspicious bush or two in my day. You just can't go plunging in to every bush that presents itself. Best to wait for a nicely trimmed one, especially if it is in the shape of the twin-tailed comet of Sigmar. A trustworthy bush indeed!
I wanted to post a comment like this in the previous videos, but other people already said everything I was thinking. These videos are very well made and we can feel the hard work behind it. This kind of stuff do more for the OW game than all GW’s promotion campaign.
Keep up the good work and I can’t wait for the next army.
That means so much to me! THANKYOU X
@@SquareBasedOldWorld you’re welcome, can’t wait for the High Elves
its empire then high elves i think
@@SquareBasedOldWorld oh, okay. Good to know.
@@SquareBasedOldWorldthat’s great man I’m getting so high on elves right now.
Good to see Beastmen a big threat again, feeling very positive about this new edition and the thought that’s gone into the rules. Really hope the legacy PDF is equally as well put together!
it looks like the Legacy factions have complete army lists, while the core factions are a shadow of their former lists. This is so they can sell you back the complete lists of the core factions over the course of time
Just as im thinking ... "I wonder if Beastmen could be the one?" ... the man does it again🎉. You two have single handedly revived my passion for Old-world, and for wargames in general. Keep doing the thing my dudes! Truely #squareblessed 🙏
I was so convinced I'd go dawi but honestly something about beastmen has always tickled me AND I could actually buy them right now instead of waiting for gw's janky schedual hmmmm.. thanks for the great video rob and the based crew!
Anytime babe!!
Great and substantive overview and kudos to the editor as well for the concise presentation!
Thanks, i was the editor too ( Rob ) so appreciated
It gives me so much nostalgia seeing all these old units and mechanics return for my favorite fantasy army! Beasts of chaos is what originally got me into warhammer back 17 years ago, and I worked for so long building up a modest collection without ever getting to actually play them. Looking forward to finally bringing out the herd against my new friends! Thank you for the great video
Another great video, these overviews have been such a good series! I love how much flavour the rules allow for, with units like the chaos giant being the biggest examples but even with the less complex units as well
The subject matter brought me in, passion and open-minded commentary got me to subscribe. You are my official go-to for examining this game and it's armies outside of local gameplay. Excellent work you guys!
And as Bray-herd 8th edition refugee I sincerely thank you for validating my excitement for the Old World. I am very much looking forward to any Beastmen tacticas you'll have coming out as my 100+ gors are looking for to add more meat to the menu. AoS was never an option for me and the Herd has been getting tired of me feeding them Space Marines.
I love that you covered Beasts of Chaos. They are usually not all that loved but the models are cool and the rules make them just random enough to be super fun if not super powerful.
These creatures are crazy....and im loving it 😂 great background dump once again, well done guys 🙌 being a new player and only coming from a middle earth background its all very different for me 😂
Thank you so much 😁
I absolutely LOVE Dragon Ogres and Shagoths! Kholek Suneater is one of my favorite character is WFB and I can't wait for him to smash the living lightning out of my opponent's army! As always, great army overview, and thanks for all you do for the Square Based community!
These overviews are great! Clear, concise, and well structured. I am sure a lot of work goes into making these, so: thanks Rob! (Keep them coming!!!!)
They do but ill keep going
Within a minute you had me wanting to go through my boxes and find my Gors and start modelling. I spent my whole lunch break looking up STL's for monsters that I could print. Thanks Rob, I appreciate the enthusiasm.
Check out Avatars of War for some amazing multipart STL kits! - Val
Best beastmen video I’ve ever seen
love you
The Beastmen have always been my favourite Fantasy Army. Thanks for this amazing overview. I think when I return to the Old World it'll be leading a big horde of Gors!
Cockatrice causes terror not only to the models but to the opponent, it is a very potent model, expensive but great, imagine two with that stat line and stone gaze against anything low toughness/ initiative
My favorite army! Thank you for the great content recently.
The mutant chicken is an auto include purely on rule of cool for me.
Game wise initial thought is a flexible tech piece / flank monster zipping in to take out warmachines supporting into flanks or even petrifying a couple of wounds off very tough but low initiative characters or monsters.
Equally possible it's just trying to be too clever at too much for it's own mutant good at 170 points though 😂
Allie Chimera page 75 or Cockatrice page 106?
Chariot Runner makes it seem like Beastie carts are gonna make a big showing
This was my first thought as well
Love to see the beasts getting some love. Love that they took some of the concepts from the 7th ed book and really ran with it. So many good synergies, and like you, this book is the once I am most excited about so far.
I think your analysis is spot on! Beastmen seem a fun and wild list to take. I'm particularly keen to run double ghorgons (like I did back in the day) to keep all the dragon lords honest! 😅
I always like Beastmen and they sound like they going to be a blast to play.
Thank you again for the hard work you putting into getting this out to us all.
I have over 30 Minotaurs from Bestiarum Miniatures (Aurox), I just spent the last two days rebasing them onto 50mm squares. Very excited to take these to an event with most of my army being large, aggressive bovines. Awesome content as always!
This is so great! I missed out getting my books. So happy to see the rules for my fav faction! Great content! Can't wait to push some square based around
The amount of time and effort you put into these edits really shows. Thanks for another concise detailed breakdown bud.
Hell yeah! This breakdowns of the beast bois is great!!! Thanks for staying up to make it
Just discovered your channel and have really been enjoying these overviews! Definitely earned my sub.
I’ve been Old World Curious for quite some time, but the coverage you and Val are putting out has my hesitance fading. Currently working on the backlog for my Slaves to Darkness, but I’ve got some beastmen lying around when the time comes.
Thank you for the clear and informative content as always Rob! I’ve learned a lot from your videos, and look forward to learning even more.
Rob I know you mentioned on another episide that this one didnt get a lot of views but I LOVE these overviews. Keep up the great work
I hope I'm right in thinking this, but a bray shaman on chariot might be able to get a 3+ save. The chariot has a 4+ save native, and taking the armoured hide mutation improves the models armour save by 1.
Beast men are so iconically old world and I don't think they ever really found their hook in Sigmar. Hope they get their love in Old World (and maybe they survive getting folded into StD in sigmar)
Thanks for the awesome video it has helped with my new Beastmen army!!
Awesome work mate! Thanks for the work you put in. Will definitely try out the Beastmen
You should!!
You were right! This is definitely the most interesting faction so far - makes me want to play against this with my new Bretonnians. Great video Rob.
Absolute best Warhammer content I've ever watched. Thank you so much Rob. I'm all in on Dragon Ogres, something I'd never be able to do when I was younger.
I am so excited about Old World and really look forward to all the content you produce.
Thanks Rob! I rhought i saw this pop up this morning then disappeared again... Thought i might be going crazy then its up again so glad ro see!
There were a couple of mistakes so i took it down to re edit it. Only the best for you
Loving the uploads, keep em coming!
Thanks for all the great content!
Great job as always, keep it up Rob!
I like how the army looks like you can go the jank route or play it more efficiently.
Great new design space exploration with Beastmen. We haven’t seen anything quite like this in fantasy before!
Been really enjoying these army guide vids you've been putting out, even if I am already sworn to my beloved Wood Elves!
Still, can't wait to hear about your meta-defining Centigor Wine Aunts list crushing the competitive scene!
I love this video, thank you 😊
Excellent breakdown! I can't wait to field an army of dragon ogres! (I'm pretty certain it will be in the Beastman or Warriors of Chaos supplement).
Dare I wish for a Kholek model!?
Working on 10 gors for my brayherd right now, and this video has gotten me hyped - as if I needed any more Old World-hype... Thanks Rob!
Legend. Sounds so fun!
Beastmen seem like a fun time. These are very well made and im very appreciative of these
Looks like a perfect army to be loaded with a bunch of unique monsters that your opponent won't be able to figure out which ones are the most threatening until it's too late. You lose one monster. Fine you have 3 more. It's kinda like poker where they have to guess what to shoot at and what to counter
Love these videos they always make me chuckle
So nice. We watch it twice. RiP all of the wonderful comments that were on the first release of this.
I think all your old world army reviews will receive a lot more views and remain a good resource for quite a while after the books become widely available. Once people wrap their head around the base rules and their own army these will be great for getting the basics of other armies you will be facing.
Great vid as always man! I've actually been having a bit of success with a 50 man gor heard with double hand weapoins and the razor standard and then I chuck a wargor in there with slugskin. Its expensive, but with the 10 wide formation generally still gets to attack and stuff and I already had 100 gors from 8th edition, so had to do something with them lol
Keep them coming! Awesome overviews and great for noobs like myself!
Can't wait to get the herd back on the table! Great video as always!
Yay! We love to see a new upload :D
The Quickening Storm needs the following addition: "...."it become Quickened. A Quickened model suffers no damage from Storm Call and has a +1 modifier..."
This fits with the older rule that Dragon Ogres were immune to lightning attacks and would become frenzied.
Thanks again, I was hear for the dragon ogres and chaos giants but the Brayherd proper looks very interesting...so watched it all.
I’ve been eagerly awaiting this one!
I’ve decided to play Beastmen because of this video. Thanks!
Hope you have the best time!! Get a horn to trumpet
This is very well done! Looking forward to the High Elves!
What's the Cockatrice for? I'll tell ya Rob. Having a good time, that's what it's for!
Thanks for reposting this comment. Its the one that made me so happy
It was the #squarebased thing to do@@SquareBasedOldWorld
Top content as always seems a really fun book. Was going to do WoC to match my slaves army in AoS but this is making me re consider!
Both are good. Some units work between and if you go big models you can do both armies well
(With regards to combat wizards at 9:36)
Combat Wizards? Don't think so small, think of the Wizarding Hat...
...THINK OF DOOMBULLS.
(Surgeon Generals note: You should never do this it isn't going to work and you'll probably fail your stupidity test every other turn in the game if you do and then lose a wound the one time you don't want to roll a six when you do manage to pull it off. Don't you do it, the 12 attack Strength 10 Minotaur isn't real, he's never going to be except when it's completely unneccesary and ghoulish overkill.)
Back from the wilds!!
Single units of Dragon Ogres are a super interesting idea. Building around Shaggoths seems very gimmicky but it could be fun!
But thats kinda the point there will be some gimmicks so go for it
@@SquareBasedOldWorld Oh that's FAR from a criticism, I just wouldn't know how to back it up on the table! The Vanguard AOS box has 3 Ogres in it, so a couple of those might be a good start, since they come with a buttload of every flavour of Gor.
Phenomenal video...will you be dropping these army guides in podcast format?
I’m thinking on a Doombull you add the mutations for +1 attack and improved AP of 1. Then you have 6 attacks base, up to 8 with Frenzy at AP-1, going to -3 with Primal Fury and Armour Bane 1.
That means you can take a shield rather than other weapons, and combined with the full plate magic item you are at a 3+ save. Pretty expensive but really nice
Great video as always.
Really exciting roster of units. It’s particularly great to see the pigs be so interesting. I think I’ll try some MSU Razorgors as they are so cheap with good attack profiles.
Love this video, had beastmen since way back when they did the big army box with the limited edition bsb. Can't wait to start playing ow again
Just played my first game with them very fun army!!
Another great overview!
S Tier content. Love these breakdowns. You spoil these thugs.
Really excited for the moment I get to see more than half a force pour out of ambush exactly on time.. there won't be much like it!
One bonus is that most minis are still in use in aos so you can cheap in most places
Can't wait to try my herd on the table! I feel running solo Gorebulls and individual Dragon Ogres could get into some silly MSU territory. You could even attach the big guys to Ungors in the opening turns to help protect them from war machines before having them run off to mow stuff down.
Amazing video! I was on the fence about TOW and was going to stick with my Legacy Dark Elves but this might've convinced me to pick some Beastmen up! 😅
These are great, thanks dude. I wonder, after the legacy pdfs come out, will you do a video for each of them as well? (hoping so!)
Beastmen actually look super fun in TOW.
Well thats helped me decide whether to put a wargor or a shaman on a chariot! Thankyou!
Glad we could
Definitely a better army list than what we encountered in the most recent Fantasy editions.
Pretty hyped for this. I've ended up with a number of beastmen from friends so I'm going to see if I can out an Old World Army together for them.
Loving the idea of multiple shaggoths all with Gnarled hide for a base 2+ armour save combined with multiple dragon ogre units. High strength/toughness and good armour is a rarity
Can't wait to watch this after I've had some dinner, not one I'll be looking to play but really interested to hear about their rules!
Thanks Rob got a new printer can't wait to get the goat boys on the table along with the chaos dwarves. It's a good time to be (square) based
Which one did you get? Go have a great time bud!
Elegoo 8k printer. Went big much like my spirit animals the ogors would do@@SquareBasedOldWorld
It's good to see that Robs beard is appropriately wild for covering the best faction.
It's here! Hell yes!
Fantastic as always. I think I'm probably going to start off with a monstrous infantry Beastperson Brayherds army, seeing as I've got most of it printed. #udders
The fact that you can take magic items for the Shaggoths I think it's going to make them really really powerfull, lots of great combos for sure and to be able to give them a 2+ save or strike first it's going to be very sweet I might even get a second one
My Beastmen hoard is froathin and a foamin to get on the table.
Thanks!
Aww that's huge! Many thanks to you too!
The beastmen were one of my first loves from MORDHIEM, don’t drag me into the woods rob!!!
Another great review! Currently debating between Warriors of Chaos and Beasts if I do (slowly) jump into Old World.
I think this might be the most fun and interesting Beastmen armylist we've ever had. Looking forward to them not just being poorly armored punching bags but really threatening ambushers like they always should have been.
Take a drink every time Rob says SURVIVABILITY
WE DRINKING? IM ALREADY DRUNK
Thanks for taking the time to re-edit.
My pleasure, want it to be worth people watching !! thanks for the comment
It feels like this is not being mentioned enough, and that its also missed in the battle reports that I have seen; "Warband" also allows you to re-roll missed charges, this is crazy good and important for this army...
Really good point. Guess I missed it too so thanks for that!! Wow that's huge
I feel ambush is going to be a game changer against gunline armies
Me too
If you were a doorman in past life, would you let a Centigor in the door if it had rolled a 2-5???
Great video, Think I will be putting my beasts in to squares!
The trees are alive with the sound of Jabberslythes
"Get into the beef of the army"
