    ERRORS AND OMISSIONS:
    Biannual is indeed twice a year. BIENNIEL IS ONCE EVERY TWO YEARS. Because English.
    You have to make "contact" with a pursued unit in order to hack it to bits. So being able to place a pursuing unit is indeed important.

    In the French BTB, the "Strike last" rule states that the unit has an Initiative 10. :D
    There are TONS of incorrect copy/pastes and spelling mistakes and even phrases that make no sense in non-english rulebooks.
    The funniest one is at one point, they want to say "if you want" (si vous voulez) and they wrote "if you ovulate" (si vous ovulez).

    • @vodrake
      @vodrake Před 5 měsíci +2

      The reason why having both may be desirable is if the thing your hitting is immune to killing blow (monster for example).

    • @Na_bro_leon
      @Na_bro_leon Před 5 měsíci +1

      In the case of hitting something that isn't affected by KB, it just wouldn't come into play. It has no effect, so Armor Bane would kick in as something that does.

    • @nuttyfessor
      @nuttyfessor Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes- except against troop types which are not affected by Killing blow, in this case armorbane (x) can be useful still.

    Great Show! I got a big list of FAQ questions:
    What is the order of operations on leadership substitutions? If something in a unit gives a general in the unit a modifier to its leadership does that apply before or after it is used for inspiring presence. And then is the modifier on a unit that is recovering inspiring presence applied before or after.
    When is the first round of combat? If a unit charges a unit that FBIGO is that a first round of combat? When is a unit charging? Are charging and first round of combat divorced from each other?
    Can initiative go above 10?
    Does a "drilled" unit get to reform before charging?
    If an impetuous unit cannot complete a charge, say because a unit of friendly skirmishers is in front of it, or because it is in march column does it have to declare a charge?

  • @mystictirend1222
    @mystictirend1222 Před 5 měsíci +1

    I personally love the Overrun clarification just because it gives units with Frenzy a way to actually not get instantly put out of combat for like, 2 turns
    Edit: To put my 2 cents into the whole Character/General Leadership vs Unit's Leadership, in the older version I played there used to be a big difference. For example, Stubborn (which let a unit make break checks ignoring any penalties). If your unit had stubborn but your General/Character didn't then you had to make a choice between using the Character/General's higher Leadership that would then get modified or the unit's lower Leadership that couldn't be modified. This came up a lot for me back in the day because Greatswords were Stubborn but Elector Counts weren't so you had to choose the modifiable vs non modifiable one.
    Edit2: Something that's been bouncing back and forth between me and my friends is whether the Wizarding Hat allows you to select a school of magic normally not allowed to the character. e.g. an Orc Weirdboy puts the hat on and starts using necromancy (ignoring that this literally happened in the lore.) I'm of the mind that yes, you can choose any lore because that's literally what it says. Their counter is that Army rules override Game rules and since the character has a list of allowable spell lores they cannot do it.

    My rules question: does drilled give you a free redress the ranks maneuver for any move, or just moves during the movement phase? Most importantly, can you redress the ranks before performing a charge move? They specifically call out that you can declare a charge while in march formation, you just cannot make a charge move: does the drilled special rule allow you to charge out of march formation by redressing to a combat order?

    Great video. From the FAQ we know that a Cannon does not hit a Lone Characters if it is within 3" of a unit made up of 5+ models in ranks and files, excluding exceptions. Nowi have a question:
    The Cannon Rule says that it is not forced to TARGET a model or unit, does not use Templates and automatically HITS all models under its ricochet.
    A character joined to a unit of 5+ models in ranks and files, the rules say, CANNOT BE HIT, unless he is the TARGET of an attack that directly TARGETS a model within the unit, if he is positioned under a TEMPLATE, or if joined to a unit with fewer than 5+ models in ranks and files.
    If the Character in question is under the ricochet of the cannon, how should we behave?
    He must perform a Look Out Sir!, he completely ignores the Cannon Shot as per RAW (and also according to the spirit of the game rules), or he is automatically hit and cannot even do the Look Out Sir! ?

    Some questions I can't see a definitive answer to (Note that I am aware there are "spirit of the rules" answers to most of them, but clarity would be better):
    1. Can a cannon aim somewhere that risks hitting friendly models or models engaged in combat?
    2. Models that FBIGO can reform to completely change their facing and formation if they want to? I suspect the intent was for everyone to just do a longer Give Ground but rules as written FBIGO gives you a free reform...
    3. Models that started in a position to make a supporting attack that "step forward" due to casualties can still make their supporting attack, right?
    4. Formed Units Charging Skirmishers: What exactly is meant by "move as directly as possible"? The example image 186.3 apppears to show the unit *not* doing that.
    4. Shooting at Large Targets, every rank or just two ranks?
    5. Magic Vortex. Move every player turn or just controlling play?
    6. Pillar of Fire. Block line of sight? Grant cover?
    7. Drilled. Redress after declaring a charge but before conducting the "charge move"?
    8. Swiftstride a "may" ability? I can choose to charge, pursue, or flee less if circumstances would advantage me to?
    9. Mace of Helsturm + Spectral Doppelganger, yes or no?
    10. Flails, Hatred, and other "first round" effects after pursuing into an enemy that you just made FBIGO? Yes or no?
    11. Warband gives bonus LD against Stupidity?
    12. Unit A overruns into unit B. Before that combat is fought Unit C charges unit A. Unit A gets initiative bonus for attacks against unit C? If unit A was hammerers or had the Shieldwall rule could they trigger their "was charged" rules?
    13. Please errata the Fighting Ranks rule.
    14. How many shooting attacks on a split profile? Rider shoot a bow, use a bound spell, cast a regular spell, and have their dragon breathe fire in the same phase?
    15. Buff Spells that need arc or line of sight: can they target self?
    16. Sisters of Thorn: choose the *Lore* and then randomise or just literally choose the *spell* they want?
    17. Arcane items that refer to "instead of dispelling" need the bearer to be in range to do a Wizardly Dispel to be used at all?

    34:40 This was REALLY important for Bretonians armies in 6th edition, where the characters equipped with a lance MUST use the lance in the first round of combat when they charged, then, in ongoing turns, (if they didnt break the enemy), they should use the magic weapon.
    This maybe / maybe not could be a nerf to bretonian characters charging, cause I think they only have ONE magical lance in their army list, and lances are more impactful charging than most 1handed 40-50 points magical weapons.

  • @Na_bro_leon

    As usual, you guys are legit the best podcast around for square based hype!
    For the "Does a unit get run down if for some reason you can't complete the pursuit move", I think you guys are wrong on that one. On pg 157 "Catching the Curs!" It says if you made contact with the fleeing unit. I think that still holds - if you can't catch a unit by physically getting to them, you can't hack them apart. You're considering to have made a move, but not necessarily caught them.
    Oo also - for the Veteran/Leadership test thing - think of the Arise! rule with TKs. The model takes a lead test using their own leadership - this is asking if the lead test for Arise! is affected by Veteran from the unit when the character doesn't have the rule. (Answer: No). I know the person who asked this one, so I know the situation that brought it up!

    Thoughts on that weapon change after Give Ground / FBIGO rule and how it affects lances?
    It says in the fluffy bit at the end about discarding lances, but the lance rule specifies you can use them in any combat you count as having charged - not just first round of combat.
    Then FBIGO says if you catch them you count as charging. And then the FAQ is grouping FBIGO and Give Ground…
    So I take it that it just means if the enemy gives ground you can still switch from lance to sword, but if they FBIGO you *could* technically switch to lance if you want, but they still work anyway because you count as charging?

    • @SanFranSicko

    I believe you misunderstood the general principles point since you mentioned monsters but i believe all this point allows is a marching column of 1 wide and does not affect a lone model otherwise this would contradict the definition of a unit in close order on pg 100. ("A unit in close order consists of two or more models that are arranged in base to base, edge to edge and front corner to front corner") which is why i wish there was a bit more in this faq for single models since I'm still a little unsure what formation these would be in.

    I would have liked to have something called out about the fighting rank. From what I understand (I may well be wrong) everybody in the 'fighting rank' gets to make an attack even if not in base to base. What's to stop me having a unit 60 wide and therefore getting 60 attacks? If the fighting rank includes the guys in the second rank wielding spears and I'm 60 wide and 2 deep do I get 120 attacks? You get what I'm putting down I'm sure.
    As I don't have a copy of the rule book in front of me and I'm basing this off videos of people discussing the rules I may well be completely wrong about this.

      You can. However deploying around terrain would be tricky. And the whole enemy army would be able to charge you at once. Also, although rear ranks can wheel through units, the front rank cant so it would be difficult to move

    Hi guys. I think you missinterpret the purpose of the question in regards to Maximum possible charge range. There has been confusion when applying this with swiftstride, where you add 3" to the maximum possible charge range and add a D6 to the move. Some players have played it as such; i.e a swiftride unit with move 7 would have a maximum range of 16" (7M+6+3) while rolling, if they roll above 16 they have reduced the number to 16, while other have played it as rolled, ie. 18 (the maximum of 3D6). This clearifies that :)
    Best regards

    I was hoping to see a clarification on wether or not the model behind behind a frontline model that is killed can still make a supporting attack. The model behind a frontline model that has been killed has to step up and therefore can't make supporting attacks per "Stepping Forward" on pg 146. However on pg 150 under "Excess Casualties" it says that casualties beyond those in the front rank reduce supporting attacks. That statement is unneeded if they already couldn't attack.
    What do you guys think?

    • @jessepigram1039
      @jessepigram1039 Před 5 měsíci

      A model stepping into the supporting rank are only restricted in making supporting attacks by the rules in the Excess Casualties rules. Someone who steps into the supporting rank is able to attack unless the fighting rank was afflicted with more casualties than it has models

      @@benjaminboyle7329 I don't think there's any place in the rules that explicitly states "guys stepping into the second rank can still support", but the rules allow certain models to fight from the second rank, with the only rules stopping them being those under Excess Casualties. You could maybe argue it's rules by inference, but it's the only possibility I can see

    You mention when you talked about the size of the gaming table that 4'x6' is the size as God intended.
    But you never said which of all the gods, there are several in Warhammer, or should it be understood that you mean all the gods?
