- Imperial Anthem of Austria-Hungary "Lidová hymna" ("Volkshymne") or Zachovej nám, Hospodine ("Gott erhalte") were written by Joseph Haydn and used as Emperor's anthem in 1797-1918. Music was taken in 1841 as German national anthem.

My great grandpa was Czech and was conscripted into the Austro Hungarian military.
Czechs were conscripted in huge numbers aswell as Hungarians.
Mine actually deserted to fight for allies. He was one of those who escaped via Siberian railroad...

The greatest thing about the Habsburgs and the empire is that even now, with their rule long gone, they still are something that unites us. The empire's memory is something that belongs equally to all of us, its descendants, no matter of our language or ethnicity.

Yes, there exists a Hungarian version, but it never got really popular in Hungary. After the 1867 reconciliation in the Hungarian part of the Empire an own anthem was sung (which was pretty identical to the present Hungarian anthem, just the music has been slowed down since, after the 72% territory loss in the 1920 dictate of Trianon - this is why sometimes foreign football fans are wondering, whether what they hear is an anthem at all).
So, the official translation of Gott erhalte to Hungarian is:
„Tartsa Isten, óvja Isten
Királyunk s a közhazát!
Erőt lelve a szent hitben
Ossza bölcs parancsszavát!
Hadd védnünk ős koronáját
Bárhonnét fenyítse vész!
Magyar honnal Habsburg trónját
Egyesíté égi kéz!”
Note, that this translation, contrary to all other languages, doesn’t say that the Habsburgs' throne is united with the fate of Austria, but with the fate of Hungary. More of it, the Emperor is called not our Kaiser, but our King, according to the status quo after 1867, that Franz Joseph was the Kaiser of Austria AND the King of Hungary. (For this reason, his successor Karl is known as Kaiser Karl the 1st in Austria, but as King Karl the 4th in Hungary.)
I think, some professional ensemble should sing this in a church and add it to CZcams. Whatever the history was, it is still our cultural heritage, and part of the past.

There are a lot of versions... Austria could't really handle making German the primary language so they made a version for each language within the Empire.
It existed. Today's czech republic was one of 3 most important parts of Austro-Hungarian empire.

Nejkrásnější hymna co znám. Každá verze používá sice jiné sloky, ale vždy je výsledek dokonalý.
No nevím, nechtěl bych zpívat o tom, že mám padnout za týpka, co zrovna sedí na trůně, kam nebyl vybraný obyvateli celé země, ale protože se narodil do privilegované rodiny. Jsem rád za republiku a krásnou hymnu, která opěvuje přírodní krásy této země.

Dissolution of the Habsburg empire was the greatest mistake. There were 11 nationalities in Czechoslovakia. ONLY Czechs were free (I am Moravian).
Well Morava had long history of support for Austria. I am from Haná, my 6x great uncle was František Palacký and as far as I know, my family always supported Austria. During the Great war, lot of them volunteered to fight for the Emperor right in the beginning, most went to Italian front.

@@stepanpytlik4021 Zcela rovnoprávná nebyla. Měla být podle Badeniho jazykových nařízení z roku 1897, kdy měla být čeština s němčinou rovnoprávná i ve vnitřním úřadování, ale to bylo po roce zrušeno. I tak však situace byla velmi vzdálená tomu, aby byl německý jazyk českému národu nucen. Podání na jakýkoliv úřad mohlo být dáno česky pořád a český živel se v úřadech ke konci století velmi rozmáhal, často až k nelibosti německých úředníků.
@ Souhlasím s tím, že touto dobou už k nucení němčiny moc nedocházelo, ale stále měla významnější postavení,a to i v zemích koruny České, což moc smysl nedávalo, vzhledem k tomu, že zde dominovalo český mluvící obyvatelstvo. Snahy na změnu zde samozřejmě byly, ale bohužel nevyšly
@@stepanpytlik4021 Tak zrovna ta Stremayrova jazyková nařízení, na něž vede ten odkaz, změnou docela byla. Česky mluvící obyvatelstvo zde dominovalo, ale Němců tady taky nebylo málo a jak víme, v pohraničí převažovali, takže s nimi se muselo počítat taky. U centrálních úřadů je jeden jazyk celkem nutný, jinak moc fungovat nemůžou, a těžko volit jiný než němčinu. Na zemské úrovni už je to něco jiného a tady právě nějaké pokroky byly. Třeba pražský magistrát byl od 60. let 19. století v podstatě český. Ale nelze popřít, že situace byla celkem smutná oproti pobělohorské době, kdy zrovnprávnění němčiny a češtiny bylo vlastně za trest, protože předtím tady měla čeština vyšší postavení.

was until 1918 the anthem of the austrian - hungarian empire. even if Hoffmansthal used the melody to create the "lied of the gemans", certainly until 1918 nobody used it in Germany, due the German Empire had their own anthem and Hoffmannsthals text would have been a provocation of their austrian allied. so never this text was usual before 1919.

@@azrael9550 Jo to myslíš ty předělané německé vojáky, kteří mají výložky jako německá zeměbrana, polní čepice a podivnou vlajku k tomu. Jo, tak to nemá s Rakouskem-Uherskem nic společného. Takže ne, nejsou tam, pouze se za ně falešně vydávají. Pokud si chceš zahrát FPS z první světové války, tak si kup Verdun nebo Tannenberg, je tam mnohem víc obsahu, nádherné historické mapy, ale hlavně je ta hra dělaná s láskou k historii a taky podle toho vypadá.
@@matej3504 Pre mňa za mňa nech vyzerajú jak nemecká domobrana. Ale Battlefield ma proste baví viac ako tieto "Realistické" hry. A hlavne v 1sv. vojne kde ani samopal za spojencov nemáš.
